  1. I hear what you are saying but it's round 8 as you said and IMO we have a duty of care (buzz phrase of the week) to support our players when they are hung out to dry for following club instructions. We are already sufficiently distracted and I'd say the playing group would feel very strongly about an appeal and would welcome the distraction if it means supporting one of their own. Even if we think we have a small chance of winning I'd hope we go for it.
  2. Agreed. How could Gawn be any worse than Dunn/Newton combo? He is a specialist ruck and as raw as he is, he is the only player currently able to actually compete in the ruck for a whole match without giving away size and free kicks. When a door closes and you can't open a window, crawl out the kitty door.
  3. Excellent. Sometimes you've just gotta say [censored] it, and fight for justice. The club owes it to Trengove to explore every avenue.
  4. And this from someone who actually understands the legal system. Redleg, offer your services and go get our boy off. The free footy world needs you! At the very least please email your thoughts to the club.
  5. Only if you've thrown this season away and no longer have any expectations of finals/mild success, which is ironically what you laughed at people for doing. There is nothing interesting in losing our best players to injuries/suspensions when we're not trying to tank. It's shithouse and no amount of spin will change that. We've had a good win on the weekend and it means absolutely nothing now because we came out of it without 3 of our best 18 players.
  6. Means nothing if we don't appeal and take this further. The bottom line is we need Trengove and he should be playing, and we need to do whatever we can to make that happen. Of course we can't let this interrupt our short preparation this week, but this is not a footy department matter, it's a matter for Connolly, Schwab etc to deal with now.
  7. I'm sorry but that's glass half empty if you go by previous form. Time for Martin to shine. I'm a believer!
  8. Seriously? Find me one person outside the 3 morons on the panel tonight who think Trengove's tackle was a suspendable offense, and for 3 weeks nonetheless.
  9. We've been very unlucky for many years, so it's in no way shocking to me to find out all these bad news. But for me it's a great opportunity to see Martin play first ruck. Should be interesting. Although I have no doubt we'll now lose all of our next 4 games, so whatever. I was very much over this season after the West Coast game, and absolutely nothing has changed now.
  10. I think we've had some massive blows in the past 24 hours which have put a complete dampner on our win and have almost made our next 4 games un-winnable. No ruckman, no Trengove, no Grimes, and still no Scully or McKenzie, and possibly no Rivers. That is a huge chunk of our best 22 out at a very crucial part of the season.
  11. The problem I have with this whole system is that it has no feel for the game. And also that they have their favourites in there. Judd would NEVER get suspended for this tackle. Ever. Tinney would be told by Vlad to argue that "it was forceful but part of the game". I'm sick of our players being made examples of. It was a rubbish citing, a rubbish ruling and a rubbish decision, and we're weak if we don't take this to the next level and appeal, on principle if nothing else.
  12. I didn't think it possible, but this decision is worse than the Moloney decision of "he didn't make contact but he could have" back in 2007.
  13. And I hope we do! We have nothing to lose now and it's worth a try. It seems unbelievable to me that they can justify 3 weeks for a tackle when kicking a player in the nuts or punching them in the face (with a bad record) gets you 2 weeks max. ARGH!!!!
  14. A big giant F-YOU to the AFL. Unbelievable! Can we appeal?!
  15. It shows that we don't believe it's dangerous to tackle this way or else we wouldn't tackle this way at training, thus risking injury to our own players.
  16. Our evidence should be "this is no netball, [censored] off". Ridiculous!
  17. Very very very few players who are Grimes' age suffer career ending injuries these days. We're not talking 3 knee reconstructions or a severe neck injury which forced a Collingwood (?) player to retire in just his first few seasons. Egan was almost the first of his kind with this type of injury and Geelong stuffed up and have served as a good case for everyone else. Just like OP used to threaten careers and is now so well managed that few players miss more than a few months with this type of injury. Of course there are always horrible negative endings, but we can't be thinking like that and I'm sure the club isn't either.
  18. There are so many new advances these days, far more than there were even two or three years ago when Egan got injured. I was told about a new treatment by a knee specialist recently that some footballers have apparently already tried, where they harvest your cells in a lab and inject it into an injured body part to quicken the healing process. I know the type of injury Grimes has is hard to treat due to lack of blood supply to the area, but there are honestly so many ways to get around these things and if we got Garland out of this injury, we'll get Grimes out of it too. Remember that Garland actually played for a few weeks with a 'hot spot' before it was detected, no doubt making the injury worse. We at least got to Grimesy straight away. Someone as meticulous in his recovery as him, will do a great job to get himself ready for 2012. It's such a big blow for him mentally and for us, but he'll be playing again before you know it. Just gotta trust the club to get him the best medical treatment available. Still absolutely devastating for him to sustain yet another serious, long-term injury, and so early in the season as well. It seems like every time he goes into the midfield for a brief moment everything comes crashing down around him. Clearly he is just too good and the footy gods get angry that someone so brilliant is making everyone else look ordinary so they strike him with random injuries!
  19. Based on their form, most definitely Evans and Nicholson. Can't see any other rookie getting a game right now, unless of course Campbell has decided to stop dying somewhere in obscurity.
  20. Two things. Firstly he played a lot deeper in the second half, and we know historically that that doesn't always suit him. Secondly he runs around so much in his role that he is bound to get tired. He is fit, but he doesn't have the tank to run around for 4 quarters yet. There is no doubt that he has answered a lot of the question marks that were hovering above his head over the past few weeks. The questions some had about hardness, contested marking and running to the right positions seem to have all been answered. Not emphatically, but it's a start. Watts played on a very very good player yesterday who I'm guessing has at least 10kg on him, and was excellent. But it's the cleanliness below his knees, his pace off the mark and his disposal (both in terms of skills and decision making), that makes him so special. All the other 'typical KPF' stuff will come slowly.
  21. The way Bailey was talking up Scully's fitness and how he'll "quickly regain fitness as he is such a fit guy", tells me that they won't even bother with Casey practice games first and he'll go straight into the side (maybe as a sub) once he gets the all clear.
  22. Can we all stop talking about career ending injuries RIGHT NOW!!! Grimes is not Egan. He will make a full recovery and will be running around getting injured again in no time! Oh Grimesy, you are like the new Rivers. I'm feeling the need for another signature counter. Number of seasons uninjured= 0
  23. FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUU! :( so shattered!!! Also Spencer has done his ACL. So much for our small injury list. FFS we cannot catch a break!!!
  24. 3 weeks?! Get stuffed. He tackled him in the midst in battle. He had no intention to hurt him. FFS we have to challenge this rubbish! Massive overkill by the AFL and of course it has to come at the expense of one of our players.
