Correct. When I used to fly to China for work the airline staff at check in in Melbourne would check that I had my visa. Why can’t we enforce check in staff in the airports around Australia to check travel permits? Airports aren’t exactly busy right now!

If the grand final is in Perth and we can’t go due to being filthy Victorians, I would be happy to give my grand final priority access to WA Melbourne supporters. Just because we get to miss out doesn’t mean everyone else should. The more support we could get for the boys in finals the better. Should this awful situation arise, I would be more than happy to have private conversations with WA fans who post here to try and help them out.

I wouldn’t be opposed to playing him as the sub on grand final day if he’s fit and depending on the opponent (Geelong aren’t quick so perhaps that suits). But Jones had a great sendoff in his 300th and if we do win the flag I would be happy for him to be on the ground with the guys and maybe even accept the cup with Gawny, sort of like Murphy at the Dogs.

I agree. Flags are rare. This might never come around again. If we can win one I would be over the moon, even if I’m not there to watch it in person. I will however acknowledge that if we don’t make the grand final or we lose the grand final and it isn’t being played at the G with crowds, then I think it would somewhat soften the blow.

Pre Covid I haven’t missed a home or Marvel game live in years. The only time I missed one was if I was traveling. I sat through years of us losing week in week out by sometimes 15 goals, all in the hope that one day I will get to experience the joy of seeing us win a flag. To have that taken away from me and any other long suffering fan would just be another piece of joy being ripped away from us in Victoria.

I can’t think of anything worse than Melbourne winning a flag and it being played elsewhere and we can’t attend. It would just top off what has been probably the worst year of my life.

Super disappointing and his pace will be really hard to replace. I hope he can make it back for prelims if we make it that far. I would say Hibbo is the natural replacement there and Bowey can play a more attacking role with Hibbo defending. You lose pace with Bowey but you gain better ball use. Last week was enjoyable but honestly I felt a bit sorry for GC. I don’t have anything against them. But beating those flogs in Boo Stadium was just marvelous. I despise that club about 50% as much as I despise Geelong, and anyone who knows me knows I would bomb GMHBA if I could.

Mine too. I was not around for Flower or Jimmy as I only moved to Australia in 1998. Clarry is the best player I’ve seen in a Melbourne jumper purely because he has rarely had a bad game since the day he debuted.

Sure, if you love a throw 😂 Mitchell and Libba are slow. Clarry has a brilliant burst of speed and his ability to pick up the ball one handed while charging forward is unmatched. He won us the game last night by doing just that in the final centre bounce and then had the vision to hit the ball lace out to Spargo. He is a talent like no other. I will fight to the death anyone who thinks he isn’t the best inside mid in the competition! He was winning AA blazers at 20 in a game over flowing with midfielders who can see ball and get ball. He is special.
