  1. McLean should have got a free. As I said, soft free kick, but the rule clearly says that you're not allowed to touch a player above the shoulders. So technically, the free was there. Sylvia should have kept his head. Can we trade our entire team for Jonathan Brown, please?
  2. Out: Melbourne In: Sandringham or Out: 2007 In: 2008 Robbo's 200th game next week. Hopefully the Demon fans still turn up, but I highly doubt it. It was soft, but he shouldn't have touched his neck. He should know that.
  3. Sure it was, but Sylvia should have kept his cool and at the end of the day, he is the idiot who gave away a free. We are so undisciplined. We need an absolute bastard of a coach to prevent this sort of [censored] from happening. The floodgates have opened and we're going to get smashed now. I guess that's the risk you take when you play a group of kids, and you have no backline. I'd give my left arm to ensure Rivers is never injured ever again!
  4. I'm over this game. We are pathetic! Any chance that someone other than McLean chases an opponent and applies some pressure?! Quite clearly, our players have given up and are looking forward to Mad Monday. P.S.- PUT NEWTON AT FF (what the hell is he doing in the midfield?)!!
  5. When you have Lappin, Brown, Black and Power in your side, you are always a chance. When your best/ most decorated players on the ground are White and Robbo, you're in trouble! Mind you, even with Neita, Bruce, TJ and Green, we'd still struggle.
  6. Heard of Bradshaw? Thank god he's not playing, or we'd be losing by 100 right about now! <_<
  7. It's a very young side, which is why it looks quite bad. But when you think about it, the majority of these players should represent our club for years to come. Apart from Brown, Ward, Bizzell, Junior and White, the rest of the squad has another 50-200 games left in them! Our biggest issue is that without Bell and Rivers, we really struggle down back. Frawley is doing a very good job so far, but Carroll is again fighting out of his weight/height division.
  8. Half time report: - Junior captain - Melbourne finally manning-up, still can't deliver the ball forward - Robbo getting belted - We're getting spanked in the clearances... AGAIN! - Frawley very good - McLean getting free and finding the ball, good signs - 17 possessions so far - Garland is very quick for his size - Why isn't Newton at FF? - Carroll doing a good job on Brown, with the help of the midfield - We are terrible! Oh, and I love Jonathan Brown!
  9. Much like this season!
  10. He has good speed so far, and is playing on the wing. Far too small to play in a KP at the moment.
  11. Is there any chance our midfielders could find an opponent and stay within a meter of them at ALL times? FFS, how easy were Brisbane streaming forward. Poor Brad Miller indeed, there isn't a defender on the planet who could stop Brown with that sort of delivery. As for Aaron Davey, if he comes back on the ground in the fourth quarter, it would be a quarter too early. Absolutely pathetic behaviour!
  12. I know I'll probably be the only one to say this, but... excellent! Bruce can heal properly, and we get to see Garland again, hopefully playing in the backline this time. BRING IT ON! :D
  13. Are you kidding? 14 is a new world record!
  14. Haha, did they turn the lights back on? And cheers for the Carroll info. He's obviously passed a concussion test.
  15. Could there be a double change, with both Bruce and Carroll out? Can you find out from your mate whether Carroll trained?
  16. Do we know which emergency flew up to Brisbane? If Bruce is out, I hope Moloney plays. Just to prove to all the doomsayers that he isn't finished at the highest level because of his ongoing OP.
  17. I never justified his actions, I just don't think it is such a huge deal and IMO it should have no bearings on his appointment to coach our club. If the club believes he is the right man for the job, than one stupid mistake shouldn't cost him his career. And Deanox, don't compare a man throwing a punch to a man raping a woman. I certainly didn't!
  18. I'll say this again, have we got proof that Voss made plans with Lawrence and Co., or did they simply run into each other on a night out?
  19. You can be sure that if I was player manager, our boys would never get into trouble off the field, because I'd go out partying with them and keep an eye out... unless I drink, and then I am no longer responsible for anything that takes place I'm confident that the club has put the right processes in place, and the fact that they've been open and upfront about what has been happening at board level, is a welcomed change. Riley should apply and if he doesn't get the job, he will certainly rate highly, for his knowledge of our players and list if nothing else. The only real question mark I would have is, how different is he to Neale? IMO we need a completely different approach if we're to move forward.
  20. The video shows the guy clearly throwing the ball. Do we know how long after Voss punched him? I would suggest it was a matter of minutes. If this situation took place between Joe Public you would never hear about it. It is such a common occurance, guys get drunk, guys start a fight, until someone throws a pool ball and gets their head punched in. If you haven't witnessed something similar yourself, you probably haven't spent enough time on Fitzroy St. That does not make it alright, and there is no justification for physical violence, but I think the reaction of some to the situation has been blown out of all proportion. It was a Saturday night, alcohol fueled brawl. Welcome to every Saturday night out in Melbourne!
  21. Tell me you wouldn't act in the same way if someone tried to hurt your friend. I know I would (if only I could throw such a good punch ). And you don't know whether Voss and Black planned to hang out with the rest of the crew, or whether they all found themselves in the same place. There were some Swans players there too, and as disgusting as that place is, it is a very popular joint. They may have ended up in the same place without any intention.
  22. You don't really believe that, do you? Neita stuffed up while representing the MFC. Voss stuffed up while representing nobody. Neita was escorted out of the premises for drunken behaviour, and rumors were rife that he got physical with the bouncers. Voss punched some idiot who threw a ball at his mate's head. Both incidents are as bad as each other, and completely irrelevant when you look at the big picture as both have enough credit to slip-up once.
  23. I do want him as coach, and this incident does not change my mind in the slightest. Again, I'm not defending him. What he did was stupid, but it's hardly earth shattering. We have players taking drugs, players associating with criminals, players being accused of hitting and sexually assaulting women and we let them play. Suddenly because someone loses their cool on a drunken night out, his capabilities of representing the MFC is reduced? It was a dumb, weak moment, which IMO Voss has already paid for with all this bad publicity. As I said, we all make mistakes and we're all human. I don't think that just because someone has a clean slate that they are better suited to coach this club. If Voss had a long history of inappropriate behaviour, than of course you wouldn't want him coaching our club. However, one brain fade shouldn't jeopardized his coaching career. The worse penalty a court could possibly hand out is community service or a fine. It will get sorted in August and we can all move on. Gees, it's just a slow news week
  24. I explained myself in a later post. I don't care what he does off the field, in that he can go out, drink, etc... as long as it does not compromise our footy club. He was not an AFL player when the incident took place. Now that doesn't mean it was ok, but he had no responsibility to anyone at the time, but himself. Meanwhile, when at Brisbane, he has been nothing short of outstanding, and the same goes for his time at Ch.10 I don't condone people going out and punching strangers, but it was clearly a provoked reaction. I myself am not a saint, so I won't sit there and judge someone who had a minor slip-up of judgment. I think we're all guilty of that sometimes, and part of being human is making mistakes and learning from them. If anyone deserves a second chance, it would be Michael Voss. And one more thing, why is this all of a sudden such a huge deal? This incident was made public months ago, and we all still strongly supported Voss. Just because we now have video evidence of him throwing one solitary punch, we are ready to change our mind?
  25. I will forward you the email where the exact same quotes are tagged onto American sport stars. Someone decided to change all the names to AFL players. For one, when did our club find enough money to send the players to Egypt?
