  1. I'm busy at uni (don't let the fact that I'm posting instead of listening in class fool you )... you do it! <_< In all seriousness, I can't access emails on uni computers. I'll formulate the letter if someone else is happy to send it.
  2. Mail it to Sam's Mailbag and they may pick it up from there?
  3. Selection of Newton might come down to Neita's fitness. I'd love to see them both play alongside Robbo, Bate and Sylvia, but I don't think we'll go that way.
  4. I hope they give Moloney, Rivers and Bartram the rest of the year off. What's the point in rushing them back, given their injury problems, when the year is already gone? None of them are fighting to stay at the club, as when fit, they are quite clearly in our best 22.
  5. I voted: Another footy site, but it's a two-fold story. I used to read Bigfooty, and the place disgusted me. I then heard about Demonland through a friend who posted both on Bigfooty and here (old forum), and the rest is history. I've been reading/posting/moderating this site for what feels like a lifetime. Thank god we lost our post count when we moved to the new setup, or I would probably be up to about 20,000 posts by now!
  6. True, but I wish they identified that it wasn't working early enough... who knows, it might have changed the direction of our season. Also, some accountability from Daniher regarding the failure of this plan would have been nice. I think they put all their eggs in the one basket, and the eggs cracked. We never should have run with a different style onto the MCG, where we dominated last year.
  7. I was thinking last night that I hope he doesn't kick more than 3 because I'm very poor at the moment... Oh, the conflict of interest!
  8. If we beat Essendon it proves further that we're under-performing, that we're mentally weak, that we only fight when our backs are against the wall, that we get too far ahead of ourselves and that Daniher has to go. This week has nothing to do with anyone's future. Gary was right, just as you don't sack a coach based on one loss, you don't reappoint them based on one win.
  9. Spot on (and I too am a Caro fan). Melbourne supporters WANT to hear that things are being done, defeats are taken seriously, the board is working towards a better future. I don't care if it doesn't help our on-field performance, because at the moment we're playing for nothing but pride. Daniher is under pressure, he would have known that way before Gardner went on SEN.
  10. If they drop Petterd, I will make an impassioned plea to try and talk myself out of torching the place. And no doubt we'll win, it's typical of Melbourne. We'll win, the papers will say Daniher should say, the club will probably buy it, and in 2017 we'll all still be here wondering what happened...
  11. Maybe we need to start a "Pay so he may coach" thread? I would absolutely love to get him to Melbourne, so much so that it is my new bandwagon to drive. If it fails, big deal, we've been failing for 43 years!
  12. Correct. This is purely a way to get people to donate money to the club, and it is all a bit of fun. If the Michael Newton hysteria helps raise a few hundred dollars, than that's great. I doubt he'll find out about it, and even if he does, I'm sure he'll feel a little chuffed and move on. The real pressure on the kid will come when he runs out with the team for the first time, regardless of how the supporters might feel. I think you'll find that most people just want to see him get a chance, not many are expecting him to come out and dominate. If they are, they need a reality check.
  13. And that's before he even kicked a goal! Good job everyone, that's money the club could really use.
  14. No he isn't. Very very raw, but should be promoted to the senior list at the end of the season, especially if we trade Jamar. He needs at least one or two more years to even be competitive on an AFL field, but he has potential.
  15. They asked him if he'd leave Brisbane to coach. He said yes. They asked him if he's got a team of assistants in mind ready to go. He said yes. They asked him if he had a plan. He said yes. They ask him if he'd be ready to coach and could coach next year. He said yes. When asked whether he'd take a senior job if it became available, he said that at the moment it is a hypothetical as no job is available. The thing I found interesting was he said that it's important to him to go into a club with good resources and managment, which is where he might reject our offer. Compare our footy department and facilities to that of Brisbane's, and you might understand why Voss may find that we haven't got the resources to support his vision. He didn't put as much emphasis on the list, and you get the feeling that regardless of who he coaches, he'll make significant changes to their list. Words cannot describe how much I'd love for him to coach us, even as an assistant. We just have to get his services if we want the attitude of our club to change. He is ruthless, thoughtful, strong, articulated and inspirational. And if every one of our players became half as good or worked half as hard as he did, we would be in a very very strong position to challenge for a premiership.
  16. In the words of Voss: extraordinary things happen because we do them when others don't think we can. He can be a senior coach next year, and I would back our club 110% if they chose to appoint him. He's a risk, just as any other appointment would be, but if the risk of his appointment comes off, it'll come off in a huge way! Oh, and if we get Chris Connolly, I may just have to shoot myself. We want someone ruthless, someone different. Connolly is Daniher wearing purple.
  17. Is apparently at home tonight considering it (what exactly "it" is, I'm not sure) and they'll announce the formal review tomorrow. From what I understand, it is more of a blueprint for what a new coach will have to go through to get the job, or what Daniher will have to agree to do if he wants to coach us next year. Despite what Caroline Wilson said, I think Gardner and the entire club is handling this situation pretty well. It could have got much uglier, much sooner.
  18. This has nothing to do with pressure. He'll be under pressure regardless of when or where, or how much money he'll raise on debut. This is actually a way of getting money out of Melbourne supporters. We're just disguising it
  19. Hopefully all payment details and such will be posted a little later on. I'll get back to ya... in the meantime, pledge away people as the sooner we raise the money, the sooner we can start publicising the cause.
  20. I'll start with $50. If Newton kicks more than 3 goals, I'll raise it to $100.
  21. As part of trying to bring the Newton hysteria to all new levels, Demonland is proud to launch the Michael Newton Pledge. The idea is as follows; pledge as much or as little money as you can afford to donate to the club, if Newton debuts this week. Here are the rules: 1- Money will only be taken if Newton actually gets a game 2- If you pledge money in this thread, you have to follow through and pay up 3- All money goes directly to the MFC to help fund our new facilities and such 4- We will try and generate as much publicity as we can about this, maybe even get the papers involved This is a good way to generate some much needed money for the club. We don't expect it to actually work, but who knows... Remember, if you want him to play, you gotta pay.
  22. Why not? It's a pick just like any other. Can't see why we couldn't trade it. If we did end up with a priority pick (Carlton better win another game!), hopefully we'd use one of the picks as trade bait combined with a couple of high-profile players. Who knows, we could land ourselves something really good if we use the picks correctly. I'd hate to give up our number one pick, unless it involves getting Judd/Pavlich/Reiwoldt. Also, I'm pretty sure Brock was the priority pick since we finished 14th, therefore pick 3 was always going to be ours... no? If we get another Brock as a result of this season, I can live with that. If we get Judd, well it was all worth it! :D
