*Cue Dean Bailey abuse*
-
I'm a big CJ fan. I think his trade value will be minimal, and the value he represents at Melbourne is higher. With Bailey's guidance he can become a very good player, given that he already has a decent skills- set. Of course if St.Kilda want to trade Kosi for CJ....

I tell you what, I am so confident that this won't happen, that if it does, I am giving up football. People who ring SEN need to get a life.

Do you know if they still stock babywear? Also, does this mean we're getting a new sponsor?

God footballers are idiots!

THE TRADING CHRONICLES 2007: ZERO HOUR
Jaded No More replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's because he was a Melbourne supporter growing up, and Gary was his hero. He heard the number 3 was up for grabs, and thought he was more worthy of it than Judd. We dropped the Judd deal to get him! Third round pick > Sweet f*** all -
Damn straight. If that is really the reason why Judd didn't choose us, this club really does need to have its head examined. Which makes me think that it's absolute crap. Judd didn't come to Melbourne because Melbourne wouldn't pay him disgusting amounts of money for 5 years at the expense of its other future stars! Y_M, for once in your life, I hope that your prediction comes true.

Yeah, like Q Lynch except he can't mark above his shoulders or kick 60m goals. It's like they are twins separated at birth!

THE TRADING CHRONICLES 2007: ZERO HOUR
Jaded No More replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
They got a gun midfielder off us a few years back. Time to get one back. The kid wants out, he has proven nothing even if he has scope for improvement. Pick 21 is too high given the circumstances. We're actually being nice by offering them something. We could easily say "not interested" then pick him up in the PSD. Bastard clubs would have done that a week ago already, in fact, Carlton is trying to get the best player in the AFL for nothing. Besides, if he was so highly rated more clubs would show interest. -
It depends if Bailey thinks PJ is actually a ruckman. IMO he isn't. He is a tall who can take the occasional ruck contest, similar to Holland (and Nicho ). White has a year, maybe two left. That means that we really only have 2 developing ruckmen on our list at the moment. That's not enough. Having 4 ruckmen is completely acceptable, especially if some of these ruckmen can play in more than one position (can Meesen?)

Trade week really is a meat market. End of the week you get half-price meat that's 3 days old and a bit smelly. The butcher loses money but at least he doesn't have to keep the stinky produce. If Adelaide think they are getting pick 21 for a ruckman who has done absolutely nothing at AFL level, they are seriously kidding themselves. Check back on Friday at 1.30pm when about 10 deals will get done after a week of donut eating, coffee drinking, and poker playing. -
In the PSD? If another club wants to give away an early second round pick for him, they can have him.
-
Why would we give up pick 21 when we can just as easily pick him up in the PSD for nothing?
-
At least we're recognising our need for crumbers. We are hopeless at keeping the ball in our forward half, what with Yze, Robbo and Neita and their superb speed and willingness to chase

I bet my life on the fact that the club sees us winning a flag in the next 3-4 years. 3-4 years is a LONG time in football. In 3 years time Rivers, Davey, McLean, Jones etc... will have 100-150 games experience and will be primed to win a flag. This is when 200+ gamers in Green will be very handy. We are NOT rebuilding. We have a very good group of under 23's which we want to build around, that doesn't mean that we're starting from scratch, far from it. People forget that last year we missed out on the top 4 because we lost to Carlton! There was no ability issue in 2006 to make the finals, it was a mental issue. Bailey could well get us into the top 4 next season, and when you're in the top 4, you're a chance. I'm sure Geelong supporters thought they wouldn't win a flag for 3 or 4 years, given how badly they played last season. Same goes for Port, they made a GF only a few short years after winning a flag.

Trading is about improving our list. Someone explain to me how trading Brad Green for a late second round pick is going to improve our list. What are the chances of us getting a player who is as good as Green with this late pick? Not only that, what are the chances that this pick will produce a player who will have good leadership skills and the ability to play forward and midfield? I understand that after a bad season we want to throw out the baby, the bathwater and the bath too, but we can go over the top and suffer as a consequence. Drafting is an inexact science. Statistics show that most players drafted won't even reach 100 games. Green is a proven footballer, with at least 3-4 years left and a chance to captain the side next season. Trading him for anything less than a top 10 pick would be silly, which is why the club said that it would take a very special deal to even get us to consider moving Green along.

TRAVIS JOHNSTONE - WHY WHY WHY???
Jaded No More replied to Jonesy is the next captain's topic in Melbourne Demons
Because he has the mental maturity of a 7 year old, instead of a 27 year old? Just a thought... -
Top 10 pick or don't come knocking on our door you vultures. Would hate to trade away one of the only senior players we have with some real leadership qualities. Having said that, Green is expendable. Green to Dogs for pick 5? He can play forward or midfield or half back. Why not?
-
4 year deal! Good luck to Sydney...
-
The only way he'll get consistent game time next season, is if Davey spends even more time in the midfield (an idea I hate). We have an issue with crumbers and putting pressure on the opposition's defenders when the ball hits the deck. Sadly, because Yze hates chasing and rarely tackles, he does not satisfy our needs. He can however kick goals out of his arse when the ball lands in his lap. 2008 will be his last year without a doubt.
-
Thank god the media didn't get a hold of some of the old myspace pages that some of our players had. Those were some interesting photos...
-
Building a team around our 23's and under... brilliant idea!
-
Do we really want Ben Cousins if the Eagles are willing to let him walk for nothing? He has some serious issues, which while they may not affect his on-field ability, they certainly impact his off-field life. I don't think that I would be happy to have the influence of Ben Cousins around. He is clearly more trouble than he is worth, if he is indeed being given the boot. It will be a very very big risk, which given our president's strong stand on drugs, I can't see us taking.

Well that does it, if we trade Miller, we'll lose countless of female members...
