  1. Honestly prefer the GA to the MCC - my loudness isn't appreciated in MCC
  2. Big Jim, you're in strife by the looks of things - only good for me!
  3. It'll be fixed next year, Essendon fielding their own team. Nicho's back!
  4. Hertz http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/more-news/melbourne-north-melbourne-are-cashing-up/story-e6frf9jf-1226333203031
  5. MCG already has one. Please don't blow up like the thread on BF.
  6. Guys. - Hindsight, 20/20 - Those two players have both broken their legs. You can rattle on all you want about luck, but a snapped leg is generally a 12 month injury for a professional sportsman. Think about a 'normal' person breaking their leg. At least 6 weeks in a plaster cast, followed by instructions to avoid any serious sport for a further 3 to 4 months. Generally it's about 6 months without doing a thing. Then you have to rebuild your fitness levels - running a lot etc. This can be further set back by soft-tissue injuries in the legs as they have been inactive for so long. - Jack Redden has a Brownlow medallist standing next to him when he walks onto the field. He also had another guy who was a contender for a while there. - Luke Shuey has a guy who nearly one a Brownlow. As well as one of the best ruckmen in the competition. And half a premiership side surrounding him. The reality is, our 2000-2005 drafting is what's killing us now. We were always going to have to go through the mass retirements from 2007 onwards. Look at our best 22 in 2006 and see how many of them were still playing by 2009, for example. Compare that to West Coast and Brisbane and look at some of the names that are still there.
  7. This is why I go with my old man. Well, that and the Melbourne-supporting mates I do have are MCC members, while I'm off sitting in the plebs. Not that I mind the plebs.
  8. Time to gamble...picked up LJ.
  9. No, when I actually rang the club shop Monday they were discussing what they were going to do re: the BOJ sponsor and the Reach jumpers as I rang them. I reckon they may have it on board and just sorting out that sort of thing...wouldn't be surprised to see another TFS announcement.
  10. There's a clue, they were discussing it Monday when I rang them.
  11. I know it's the Jimmy game, but are we really expecting to fill General Admission for it? Going to get there at 3pm and take the usual seats (Q49 Olympic, best in the house).
  12. Cox has got to be a contender, started every match and played significant time every time up forward. If he gets in and Fraser plays, time for hitout dominance.
  13. Damn, wish I'd taken that. That said, I think I'm hurting a lot because of Nicoski and Embley going down, as well as Ray not getting games at all. High draft picks kicking my butt.
  14. I'm not suggesting it as a long-term measure. It'd be a stopgap at best. We're hurting bad for onfield leadership, we've identified it clearly. But something similar - experienced player on the outskirts, although flawed - is almost certainly what we should be looking at to help the blokes onfield. I don't know if there is anyone around the league in a similar position to Brock - picked up a lot of games early in their career, and wanting one last crack - but if there are, to bring the blokes on and offer them some protection would be amazing.
  15. Question from a RF Leaguer - at what point do the position changes come in?
  16. Would I be shot on sight if I put HWFUA as captain? EDIT: Question - how long til the position changes come in? Is it like Wednesday? Hoping Dean Cox gets Ruck/Forward, would mean I'd dominate
  17. I know, he's a bloody tortoise and we're hurting for pace. But he was 2nd to Magner in the VFL last year and is still clearly playing well despite simply not being wanted by the Blues. Clearly on the outer at Carlton. Will have a year left on the deal, but we have so much cap space it wouldn't matter. Offer them our bottom pick in the draft and bring him back? It'd be a role model for the young mids to look up to.
  18. I think she was suggesting they'd swap it in the event of the vouchers, not too sure though. Hoping they just do a cover-over, it's both cheaper for the club and it means we get to hold onto the Reach jumpers.
  19. I've got black duct tape on mine. Looks shocking, but wearing it Sunday for the #11.
  20. Just telephoned the Demon Shop re: the EW sponsor and what will be done for supporters. The girl who answered said that they were actually in a meeting discussing it as we spoke. Said there's a few options being looked at, but most likely it'll either be a voucher for the club for a replacement or an iron-on for those who've bought the jumpers - bring the jumper in and they'll go over it with the new BOJ as they have with the current cover-over. She said to call back at the end of the week and they'll know, which I intend on doing. (I figure this might mean there's a BOJ sponsor sorted this week too)
  21. Long as Gablett keeps picking up 40+ touches you'll stay that way too I reckon
  22. If we spoon it...wow. Just wow. That said, I take encouragement from Richmond a couple of years back, when the bookies paid out on them going winless IIRC and then they won six of their last seven.
  23. That's a very good point, didn't think of it that way. Interesting that it seems to be coming easier to the bloke that has come into the system having been part of something similar - Mitch Clark.
  24. What does worry me is that in 20 or 30 years there will barely be a supporter base left. I will be there, but how many others will be around my age? How many lads and lasses younger than me? We do need to start winning again. Seriously.
  25. The traitorous bastard's handball-hapy ways are keeping me in games...
