  1. This year we would have realistic chance at beating Carlton ,Richmond ,Essendon ,StKilda ,Collingwood and the Bulldogs at least once to me beating most of these and a couple of interstaters would be a great year
  2. As an afterthought the match day umpire reported Merrett and the mark was completed . Shouldn't that be 50 metres and a probable goal
  3. Other incidents assessed: The match day report laid against the Brisbane Lions Daniel Merrett for striking Melbournes Cam Pedersen was assessed. Melbournes Dom Tyson had the ball and kicked towards his teammate Pedersen. As Pedersen was preparing to mark, Merrett, who had his eyes on the ball, reached up to spoil with his left arm. Merrett made contact with the ball with his left arm in his spoiling action and also made high contact to Pedersen at the same time. It was the view of the panel that Merretts action was a legitimate attempt to spoil and the high contact made was deemed to be accidental as part of the spoiling motion. No further action was taken.
  4. If he had done it for two quarters yesterday we would have won by 4 goals at least. If he did it for two quarters every few weeks we would probably win those games see Rioli Goodes Jurrah
  5. I would prefer to look at that third quarter and see the potential it wasn't just 13 possessions it was 13 telling possiesThe more times we can get the ball into his hands the better we are. In the last quarter he was tagged and the other players did nothing to get him the ball he's a creative player and taller than Goodes as shown by that intercept that resulted in his goal. Our patience is starting to pay off glass half full.
  6. A little nugget from Roos last week where he feels that the players that come from TAC are skilful offensively but lack the AFL requirement of defence. All the good teams leave their players in the seconds for long periods of time to develop this side of their game. Maybe , just maybe the Tapscott, Bleases and now JKH are there to learn and not as some on here would say with their cards marked. Other player such as Watts have the general skill but not the endurance as shown by his inability to run out games in Darwin. These players don't gain as much by being in the seconds and are better played in the firsts with more breaks. "Success is best measured by how far you have come with the talents you have been given." RDB
  7. I would love to see Ling come at the end of this year and work with Roos for 2 years and possibly Kirk as well and then see what unfolds.
  8. I would prefer Demons Dees puts us behind the As Bs and Cs before we even start
  9. What about Kyle Cheney. Oh hang on he's playing centre half back for the premiers Godfrey ???????? We would love to have him back now 6 months ago you would have had Dunn in there and now he's in our best I seem to remember people here canning Nathan Jones in his first couple of years Maybe we should wait till players careers finish before we make our keyboard judgments
  10. 6 N Jones 5 Cross 4 Dunn 3 Tyson 2 Frawley 1 Terlich
  11. The only advantage netball has is that they tend to select the team on looks except in NZ you can actually play a game of basketball adhering to netball rules without breaking any basketball rules but not Vice versa I would also say that most of the Opals or ex coach Carrie Graf would be able to take destroy all and Biffen down without too much effort
  12. Netball is just basketball with all the good bits removed
  13. Unless any of you guys have seen US college basketball live then you haven't seen basketball NBA is a manufactured boring game but DIV 1 college is every bit as good to watch live as AFL Also AFL has followed basketball in its development over the last 30 years. Zoning and lately the run and jump defence are basketball through and through The screen was developed by the Doggies but was deemed too rough for AFL and therefore banned. I wouldn't mind a fit Jason Gram or Scott Pendlebury playing for us of even that Big softy Roughead all Country Victorian basketballers. Also your probably lucky that Eddie Mely (probably not the correct spelling) is not reading this The Dandenong Ruckman from the 60's played a high level of basketball as well Check out Port Melbourne Dandenong games of the era the Port Ruckman Stretch Anninson again probably not the right spelling played quite a few games for Sth Melbourne and I don't think was known for his softness and wearing a dress
  14. That's exactly the point an expanded salary cap allowing us to keep the Watts and Sylvias as well as top up on some new talent. If the AFL is serious about bringing us back to a power ,which is in their interest then this would be a simple and effective method. Some of the other struggling clubs could never bring in the crowds like a powerful Melbourne.
  15. How about no priority pick but enough cash to poach a few or keep some. Developing players has been our biggest problem .
  16. Just about everyone who plays with the dees has improved since Neeld left we need a few weeks and games to evaluate players before we start putting them into categories .
  17. Barassi first as he didn't accept losing Flower second as the only time he played finals he was terrific Schwarz fit and firing (not the Ox) third as he was probably the best athlete we ever had Fred Fanning never saw him but he holds so many VFL AFL records he must have been something
  18. Tassie Johnson drop kicking to the centre circle Daylight Al Nicholson just to brighten up otherwise dreary days
  19. Premiership same as every other year but failing that not to get pooed on by a seagull just before the other team goes on a 10 goal run like last night ( I hate twilight games)
  20. Looking at yesterday's game we seriously need another tall backman Frawley was undersized Rivers is always undersized as is Garland. Sellar was recruited as a backman I thought but seems to have been thrown forward. Why can't Martin be the big backman we obviously need. As a rebounder he would be hard to stop playing on slow giants. He started as a full back and was then thrown all over the shop. I'd trade a few others before him.
  21. Sheedy would have thrown everything into getting Nic Nat he would have been the poster boy. Maybe he would have developed with us or maybe he wouldn't. If we'd had Nic we mightn't have got the priority pick and got scully and trengove . If we could kick and mark and tackle and had a game plan we would be playing finals. Lets just get on with what we can do and do it better.
  22. Good on you Brad much maligned on the forums probably would have done well under Neeld Would still be a welcome addition in some capacity at the club for his attitude and focus and of course Pia
