  1. WOW, class act that man. Best of luck and hopefully one day the boys can line up against a team coached by DB again (and towel them up might I add )
  2. I've no dubt that Trenners is cut from the right cloth to be a great success as a young captain. Leads by example on and off the field, eloquent and composed in the media and grounded enough to make it. That said, I do understand that people would like him to settle in a little more before being shouldered with such responsibility. I can't believe that Jonesy gets looked over. He bleeds for the club, leads by example on the track and virtually all season on game day, speaks well, oh and did I mention he absolutely LOVES the club. He'll go bloody close to winning the Bluey this year, and would IMO be a very deserving and good captain.
  3. Good post Nutbean, but I think that the bit in italics is more about being honest about history rather than rewriting it, as that is exactly what Bailey did. I have no doubt that Baileys time was up at the club, but he was appointed as the best coach available at the time to do what was required of him, and that is what he did. When he reached his limit it was time to part ways and look for the next bridge on our path to a premiership. Anyone who says Bailey was an abject failure can't see the woods for the trees.
  4. Surely you know better than this WWS Thanks for that J_t, a good insight there. Very, very good post there Pates. Nice to hear some sense I was of exactly the same opinion rpfc, and then on someones insistance I looked on youtube at his appearance on AFL Insider. It is only my observation, but he seems very astute, very well spoken (good communicator) and seems to command respect from Lynch, Scott and the Chief, which says alot to me. I still don't know him, and will reserve my judgement till I see him in action with our boys and hear from people I know who have a clue, but for now, he is making all the right noises for me to feel confident that he will be a success. After we appointed Bailey, I had mates asking how I felt about him for a long time, and who he really was. I get the feeling that will not be the case this time around, as Neelds reputation preceeds him. Surely the reports that virtually every other club looking for a coach wanted him too has to mean something.
  5. Gazza said tomorrow afternoon. I would expect about middayish to allow some time before the game.
  6. Did Bailey have a rep on the level with the rep that Neeld has from people who know? I think not. I mentioned Port. Sorry I didn't mention Essendon, my bad. There are only a few of you doom and gloomers out there, majority of people seem to think that it is a very wise appointment. How many were saying that when Bailey got appointed?? Not many. Speaks volumes to me. Port of 04 were light years from the Pies of 10/11, and he gets a hell of alot of credit for where the pies are now.
  7. On ya bike then. Bailey was experienced at Port, big difference between them and the Pies I'd suggest.
  8. When I first started listening, first thing I heard was Gazza say "there will be an announcement tomorrow afternoon". I went "woo hoo" and made my post. He then said he wouldn't confirm nor deny, but there would be an announcement tomorrow, hence my edit. That said, having actually heard it, I would put my house on it as you could hear it in his voice. I also would not be surprised if there was a twist along the lines of a Director of Coaching etc, as it sounded like Gazza had something up his sleeve. Thanks for posting that WYL, very interesting to read. Look forward to his first serious huddle now I just watched the interviews on Insider, pretty switched on fella, I must say.
  9. It's not my ideal appointment, but of the available coaches and short of Malthouse, from what I know of him I am pretty happy about it. As others have said, time for us all to get behind a new coach and the MFC. GO DEES!
  10. Garry Lyon just confirmed it on MMM. I'm pretty happy with this one. Edit: he said I'm not confirming or denying anything, but there will be an announcement tomorrow arvo.
  11. Thing that worries me with that TM9, is that his first two years he had a good list and has managed it from 1st to 11th. He's gone in the wrong direction every single year.
  12. I would guess so. He is supposed to give three months notice to terminate. Obviously he will forfeit all monies owed, but after that, I don't know.
  13. Hahaha, exactly. Sounds very "self assured"
  14. Kelly couldn't do much as he couldn't represent RL in underhanded dealings against another of his clients.
  15. Just heard on SEN that RL was even able to name his amount to stay at St Kilda. He also walked into a board meeting, told them he was leaving and then walked out, leaving for Perth.
  16. I dont know too much about Burns personally, but I do like Craig, and would deal with this scenario pretty well.
  17. Yes he had WYL, but I couldn't give a [censored] about that. What a [censored] of a man to go behind Harveys back like that. Far as I'm concerned this is something that just should not happen. If the club had approached him, that is vastly different. But they didn't, he approached them in full knowledge that Harvey had a contract, a good list who had been injured and a team in their window. He got jealous and wanted it. He coveted another mans wife. DOG of a man he is. Glad he's gone west and not to us.
  18. Just thought I'd correct your typo here WJ. I believe you missed the word "no" in between "of" and "integrity". But he approached them first, so how could it be all about $$$$$ He didn't know what they would offer, he just knew he wanted to go there.
  19. Well as far as we actually KNOW, he did not seek it, but had it offered. Lyon on the other hand did seek it, snaking another coach along the way might I add. I don't want the [censored] anymore, this to me paints him as nothing but a dog. I agree Choko. I said earlier about the game last year when Freo beat Geelong at Subi. Absolutely one of the best games of footy I've ever seen. If he could get our guys playing like that we would be dead set lethal withing 3 years. Remember they finished 14th in his first year, so he has to get a lot of credit for where they were/should be. Or we didn't because the deal was already done, as they are reporting it all started weeks ago. If that is the case, I am worried again. And another thing 7.5million over 5 years. HOLY [censored]! That is incredible.
  20. SEN now that Ross Lyon did deal on his own and his management have now sacked him! WTF! This mans credibility is now worse than Scullys.
  21. Well it seems apparent that the deal between Freo and Lyon has been in the pipeline for 5 weeks, so we probably did approach and got told thanks, but no thanks.
  22. Mercenary, way worse than even he who cant be named.
  23. Mind boggling isn't it. I'll bet Harvey will be setting up a dart board with a piccie of Ross Lyon on it as soon as he settles in his new abode, where ever that may be.
