Nah, Clark is great how he is and is already effectively the captain of the forward line. He has enough to do with that, his injury management and off field initiatives.
Wines would fit into our side beautifully - we are crying out for some size in the contests to batter the opposition and protect some of the smaller frames and at 188cm and 90kg he is already very solid for a midfielder.
I actually think his career disproves this. Over the last 5 or 6 years Chunk has increased steadily from being a plodder, to not half bad to a very good player this year. I don't see why he can't continue to improve like this especially when you take into account his appetite for hard work.
Although we have all of these new players coming in and training regime and so on, it will take time for them to gel as a side. Considering what will be a very large turnover of players by the end of the draft period, it will take time for them to learn to work as a unit and this takes game time. I'll be ecstatic if we get 8 wins on the board.
This is the attitude to take I think, too many years of let down to be optimistic about Col.
He does need to play in the middle if he is going to 'explode' though.
Early days but didn't look great this arvo. Lyon has some work to do and I think Clarke should have bowled himself today (and if he doesn't tomorrow that is a big mistake). Pattinson was a bit wayward and Siddle didn't look very threatening. Need a bit of spark tomorrow!
Just personally I'd buy a house before I bought a Ferrari...
But anyway, yes because it's called upgrading.
It's not like all three of the guys you named are going to fill the forward line for the next decade anyway - stuff happens.
If you have a chance to get a one in a generation player like Lance Franklin, you try and get him. When a player of his calibre and profile is on the line, forget about structures and that stuff.
Thanks for the updates.
I like Magner more and more and have a lot of respect for him. From all reports he really really wants this and is working harder than most to get there, good on him. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the middle more next season and proving those people who reckon he can only be a plodder completely wrong. I think he can get to that next level.
I agree, I reckon in a similar way Clark has surprised everyone this year. People scoffed when we gave up pick 12 for him but Neeld and co clearly could see the ability and attitude that he is displaying now. Being played out of position at Brisbane was a big factor in his improvement at the MFC too.
Dawes is a very similar situation - has the ability (I believe), from all reports a great attitude and was played out of position at Collingwood the last one or two seasons - can't wait to see him tear it up in the red and blue.
There is a chance but it's pretty small. Even with Lyon they'll have three quicks plus Watson who is very capable and not slow by any means as he showed in South Africa. I reckon Lyon will play.
And Brock coming out publicly and making statements doesn't show his backbone, it just shows how brainless he really is. Carlton will be next thanks to him.
