  1. Watson, who continually makes it to the 90's, only to get himself out? The evidence is there, just look around.
  2. No, I was saying a lot of his club cricket has probably also contributed to the 'hit out or get out' mentality that he often shows. I agree that we are bereft of technically good batsman, that much is obvious. 20/20 though is affecting the players games though, as I said above, in terms of concentration at the crease and not knowing when to attack or defend. There are plenty of examples of our batsmen getting themselves out over the past couple of years in that way and the big scores (batsmen batting on after 100) are less and less each year. Due in part to talent and skill but also this plight.
  3. That is my point, the 20/20 matches and the extra focus on it these days really affects the batsman's ability to concentrate, at least in Australia. If Warner had been brought into tests before 20/20 there is a good chance he would have developed better concentration and discipline at the crease, rather than playing rash shots and being indecisive as to when to attack and defend. And I believe that in his club cricket, Warner was also playing 20/20 and 50 over matches. It is affecting arguably all the bats aside from Clarke, who is obviously our best bat.
  4. And there in point is what 20/20 cricket has done to our test players.
  5. Cameron White a smokey for the first test? Probably not but putting his name back out there as a serious candidate.
  6. I like it though I think the unfulfilled spot is Ebert - I'd have Viney as the equivalent of Wines (though he'll be better ). Trengove might end up being that consistent worker.
  7. Has anyone seen Mystery Road, new Australian western sort of movie based in an indigenous community in far west NSW? Stars Aaron Pedersen who was from Water Rats and more recently City Homicide (where I thought he was absolute rubbish as an actor) and he does very well. Also has Hugo Weaving, Tasma Walton and Damien Walshe-Howling, who played Benji Veniaman. Saw it last week and thought it was quite good though there were a few loose ends to the plot and the dialogue was lacking a bit in flow.
  8. It's amazing how scenes and shots in major productions are shuffled and altered to get brand recognition in, there are a couple of very good docos about it.
  9. Wonder if we'll have a serious look at Tom Cooper as a potential national selection? If he keeps scoring shield runs like this they would have to contemplate it. What would the process be anyway, to get him into the Australian side and off Holland's list/payroll (hypothetical).
  10. It was a big influence in my display name and pic
  11. Wow, dare I say it, we could potentially be 3 and 0.
  12. In case you haven't been following footy recently, you need a lot more than 6 midfielders to win games.
  13. I think he'll definitely find his way onto another list, probably as a rookie.
  14. I think we could definitely afford to shed a couple of forwards and forward/mids for genuine midfielders as well as probably one of those tall backs. The best teams at the moment are showing that an abundance of midfielders is the way to go.
  15. What a bloody pointless thread. He wasn't good enough, we made a big mistake picking him, boohoo, end of story. There's nothing else to it.
  16. I'd rather use the rookie draft on a prospective ruckman as well as a midfielder or two. KPF aren't what we need right now, especially considering that next years draft is supposed to be choc full of them.
  17. I really like the look of Cavarra but the height may be such a concern that he doesn't get picked up, like Anton Woods a few years ago.
  18. The more I hear and see about Freeman, the more he grows on me. The pace factor, for an inside midfielder, is precisely why he is our guy. Hoping he falls to us at 9.
  19. And he was dominant before the knee injury.
  20. I think Thomas is definitely worth a look, I was surprised that he was delisted actually.
  21. I forgot about Crouch, what's his pace like? I've heard some really good things.
  22. The footy media these days tend to have no idea until about a minute before the news breaks anyway. I don't think Freeman will be available at 9 - Collingwood are apparently keen on him with 6 but I hope he falls through. If he's not available, Sheed or Lennon could be likely types.
  23. I played from under 9's in the Northern Footy League, a couple of years in the VAFA and back in the NFL now just playing with some mates. I'd give anything to be able to put on the red and blue though, like everyone on here.
