The main thing they have over us is senior experience in players like Murphy, Simpson, Waite, Judd, Robinson, Walker, Carrazzo, Thomas etc. This is what every side has over us, because of our rubbish development and drafting. If you peeled those blokes off or took them away until our experience was comparable then yes, we'd have a better list. But at the moment we do not. Footnote: I have enormous respect for Kade Simpson. He's tough, hard working and very under rated as a player. What is also great is how well he has done as midfielder considering his size. I wish he played for us.

In both those cases the player is worth more than those offers. Regarding Wines, there is nothing to indicate that he is anything but ecstatic about being part of the Port outfit - he is an unrealistic target. Dangerfield too, probably.

GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

I'd say Jurrah was the best set shot kick I've seen at the Dees recently but maybe stats will tell a different story. -
GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Mitch is really in a pickle. Depression is very debilitating, but one of the best forms of treatment is physical activity and excercise, which is a great distraction. I'm sure whoever is looking out for him at the moment from a medical point of view would encourage him to continue playing footy, but obviously while injured he can't. He really is stuck while he's at the club, especially if there's no prospect of him playing for the short term future. He should be going out and doing -

Best of luck to Mitch with his recovery - it's an absolute [censored] of a condition. Anyway, could we wrangle some kind of compensation from the AFL for this in the way of a pick, simply because we're the MFC? -
I totally agree, my point was that it's impossible that we could have picked a dud every single time while the teams around us picked better. It's clearly development which has been the main factor, for me.
-
But then if we picked the wrong players, other clubs were fully intending to pick the same 'wrong' players around our picks. We can't have been so unlucky to steal every dud from under the noses of the other clubs could we?
-
I find the same to a point, however I always find it easier to sympathise and connect to a point with the underdogs, or the struggling sides. Probably because my brain has been wired that way after so long supporting the MFC.

But we should have taken Dunstan! Have we ever had one of those?

How about we just agree to blame Jack Watts?

He hasn't been a vocal leader, but he can still lead. Nathan Jones has never really been a vocal leader until a couple of press conferences this season but he still shows his leadership on the field - sometimes he convinces me with his attitude among the packs that he'd die for the jumper. Frawley doesn't display the same on gameday while I distinctly remember he used to. Although he hasn't been a vocal leader in the past, there's nothing stopping him coming out now and holding a presser where he announces that he's 100% behind Roos and the club. That would instil some confidence in the guys playing around him I have no doubt and would be a great act of leadership and loyalty. Unfortunately I doubt he will do it because I firmly believe he's off.

Might be time to get a new guernsey methinks.

Some good points in there. Regarding Spencer, I don't think he can really 'bounce back' after a bad game because he's really hit his ceiling as an AFL footballer I feel. I love his aggression and endeavour which is top 5 in the 22 but he just doesn't have the skills or awareness and his tap work is constantly found wanting. We need Jamar or Gawn in ASAP but ASAP probably won't be this week.

The last three weeks after the St Kilda loss have really shown how fragile our confidence is. We played well that game and really should have won. St Kilda are playing some much better than expected footy at the moment and I have no doubt that if we'd won that game, we'd be in a similar boat to them now. We would have beaten GWS yesterday and at least looked competitive against West Coast. Now however it's going to take more time to instil that confidence into the playing group again and every big loss we cop is going to push it further down. It can be done over time (hopefully we see some results later this season) but I'm bloody sick of waiting.

Interest Factor in football these days almost dead
Little Richard replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jeez, 1 in 5 sounds a lot better than how I actually feel about the last 7 seasons. -
But what's the next step if Roos decides not to extend his contract beyond two years and we are left with an unsatisfactory arrangement with the successor coach? Roos was regarded as the best option by many on here so once the best option has been exhausted, what happens? What will the AFL think if Roos fulfills his 2 years and we're still a steaming pile of fecal matter?
-
That's an issue though, I wouldn't want to give him away for anything less than an end of first rounder. He's obviously not worth that but there's something inside me that knows that if Trengove goes to another team, he'll become a great player again.
-
Howe maybe though Trengove is one I think it would be more advantageous to keep and hope that he improves radically because we'll get next to nothing for him.
-
I would have been all over this a while ago but I don't think I believe anymore.

Beautiful nickname

Who the hell is Pig Dog?

I think Viney will make a big difference, as long as he's completely fit. His attitude will lift others around him as well as the fact that he's a great extractor and tackler. I'm keen to see what he can do today.
-
Haha yes I did, I was just waiting for someone to pick up on it. But seriously, he dominated for the Knights yesterday.
