Wonder how Gary Lyon is feeling considering he thought we were still a chance at keeping TS last week as per his comments on FC. You dont BS a Legend like Gary and also Stynes, very disrespectful TS.

You can not blame him for taking the money. Whats got my goat is all the BS in getting to the decision thats what has hurt him imo. Its not the end of the world and will galvanize all Dees supporters. Renew your membership we support the CLUB not the individual. Glad its all over and we can move forward.

I am sure they will be flooded with memberships when the new coach is signed. Scull is one player and as we all know one player does not make the team especially when that player has played 30 odd average games and has a dinky knee.

Saw this today in the Age "Melbourne casts the net wide for senior coach" surley this is not correct and a smoke screen as I thought we wanted a senior coach (ie MM, Roos, Lyon, Thompson etc).

Just a quick question - What if Tom decides to stay (and thsts a big if IMO) how will he be treated by the supporters? Based on some of the comments on this site it seems there are quiet a few who now dislike him because of the process he has gone through to make up his mind. Just curious.

Gareth you mention "tweek an existing gameplan" lol, I didnt know we had a gameplan. Bailey has allot to answer for. Agree with your comments in that you cannot judge Viney on 5 weeks, Bailey had 3.5 years to poison their minds with his so called gameplan. It will take a good preseason to jolt it out of them.

Yes the umps were bad but at the end of the day the Dees lost it. You can not expect to win a game when you kick points, dont apply pressure for 4 qrts and continually kick it to the opposition which has been the Dees way for most of the season. Their skills for the past 4 years has been pathetic for AFL footballers. Bailey has a lot to answer for. Its going to take time to get the game plan (and I use the term very very losely) which Bailey implemented in the players out of their system. Once we get a coach that knows what he is doing we will move forward. As bad as this season has been we are in a better position than in previous seasons. One thing Bailey did do was cull the list. Keep the faith. GO DEES.

Understand what you are saying but in defence of Viney he was never going to do too much in 5 weeks as the game plan and i use the term very losely which DB had installed in the players will take time to get out of their system. With a new coach comes new expectation and hope. Bring it on.

I havent watched the game yet, should I bother to? One positive out of the season is that we got rid of the coach. Gotta look at some positive from a dismal season. Bring on the cricket!

Great news. Hopefully he can play next season like he did against the Toothless Tigers. He has the ability and hopefully the application to play like that every week. For me Morton and Scully can go. Looks like Green and Martin are in deep talks with the Dees to resign too. Hopefully more good news to follow with players and coaches to come.

Yep Its time to move on from wanting draft picks and start to perform. I dont know about anyone else but I am sick of the tanking talk. At this point of the season it would be nice for all of us to be talking about ladder position and finals instead of draft picks!

Perfect answer. We get a big full forward (min cost) and protect ourselves with the behaviour clauses in his contract. Its a win win. 3rd time lucky for Fev!!!

Agree RPFC. If Malthouse wants to coach it has to be next year otherwise we look else where such as Lyon, Williams, Roos or Bomber. We can not be in a holding pattern for another year. (we have basically been in a holding pattern for the past 4 years its time to move forward now not in 12 months)

Didnt Roos take over Sydney mid season? If this is correct we are in for a very very long season, possibly worse than 2008/09.

Welcome on board. If this is correct do you mean a current head coach or assistant? When you say its a compromise rather than a coup is it a good coach that we will be happy with and while your at it name the coach (or give intials)

What happens if we continue to lose and not only lose but lose badly where we show no passion or game plan? I understand where you are coming from but if we continue to lose and we do nothing does that make the MFC look unprofessional or unattractive to a potential coach too? Also how will it affect attendances at the games and memberships?
