Had a big laugh to myself when I saw this in the Herald Sun Melbourne coach Dean Bailey challenges players to prove they deserve places in team. Bailey could include himself in that too. He needs to challenge himself to prove he is a good long term coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It wasnt the loss it was the way we lost. Second quarter was very good but hello as soon as pressure comes we crumble. Every man and his dog would know the Hawks were going to come out hard in the second half and what did we do????????? rold over and played dead. Looked like a bloody training drill after half time. Even if we win the next 2 matches BIG DEAL as it will be against sh$t teams. Very Very dissapointing. Under 10's at my local footy club would show more passion. IMO Bailey has had his time and needs to go. You can only hear the same BS so many times before it goes in one ear and out the other(This is obviously happening to the players). Another year is going to be wasted AGAIN. And dont say Bailey needs more time as that is crap. They should be more competitive at this stage of their development. Besides we should have been blown out of the water in the first qrter except for the hawks bad kicking for goal.

Like your thinking Range Rover. If the Dees show pressure on the ball carrier (in the midfield) then the ball will not get into the opps I50 as much and therefore our backline will not be exposed as much. When teams apply pressure on the Dees they seem to go to water. This has to improve this year and if it does then the results will take care of itself. If it doesnt and we win 9-10 games IMO its goddbye Bails and hello Roos, Malthouse, Mathews with G Lyon as assistant. I know we need patience but we have to see improvement. I dont know about the rest of you but I am getting sick of hearing from the players and coaches we need to do this or that. Its time to start doing it NOW and less talk about doing it.

I would like to see Watts running with Goodes and Jones to tag K Jack. Would be a very good learning curve for Watts to see what it takes to be an elite player at AFL level. Jones, I would have him stick to K Jack like glue and pester the crap out of him all day. Any other thoughts?????????????

How about less talk and MORE ACTION from the coaches and players. I too am sick of hearing the same dribble from Bailey. Actions speak louder than words.

Before we all get too excited, I am playing devils advocate and just posing this as a possible scenario. Our first four games are against Syndey, Hawthorn, Brisbane and Gold Coast follwed by a bye in round 5. I would hope we would win at least 3 out of the first 4. What happens if we are 0 and 4??????? Bailey has rebult the team but when you listen to his press conferences over the last 3 years he continues to say the same thing. (IE to many turnovers, not enough inside 50's, skill level needs improvement etc etc). Isnt that his job to make sure we do improve. Sadly he is saying the same thing again this year (yes i know its only preseason). Obviously we have a team that can compete and I know we are young and I know we have to be patient but there comes a time when we "the fans" need to see more improvement on the field. LESS TALK MORE ACTION. If we start 0-4 (then after R5 we have a trip to Perth, could be 0-5) then Bailey needs to go. Replacement Leigh Matthew or Mick Malthouse or Paul Roos with G Lyon as Assistant. Your thoughts?????????
