Trade Rumours 2023
Feel like we are creating a trade for trades sake. We need talent now, I am already bemused by us pushing out our seasoned bodies without replacement upgrades and we then are proposing to push high draft picks further into future. I have been a big advocate on our list management for the last 5 years or so, but something isn’t quite right this year. Did we get our salary cap structure wrong?

Farewell Brodie Grundy
As it becomes more apparent Grundy will appear in the red and white next year. If Sydney’s second round selection at 22 isnt on the table as a straight swap. Would we be better to package Grundy and our 32 for Sydney’s 22 and 41. Effectively nets valuing Grundy @ 673 points (approx pick 28) but feels a whole heap better return than their 30.

Welcome to Demonland: Trent Rivers
As a start I cannot stand the cats so I feel dirty making the comparison. But as the year has gone on for me the comparison to two of their finest backs becomes stronger. Rivers plays very similar to Andrew Mackie and Judd McVee to Corey Enright. If we could get the careers these two had for the Dees we are well placed for the next decade.

Harley Reid
I’m not sure Clarkson has ‘it’ left in him. The past year has warning bells ringing.

How far away is Matt Jefferson?
From a good friend whose son played with Jefferson at Wesley he has always had the skills but never the real appetite for physicality. Cross fingers that this can be learned behaviour but AFL history suggests it’s unlikely.

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs North Melbourne
A win is a win. While those around us are stumbling we are putting together a good period of footy. I think with that win it is now mathematically impossible not to play finals. Hopefully we can now get some loading in (Pies are definitely in a loading phase) and maintain our place in top 4. Congrats Dees!

Welcome to Demonland Josh Schache
Not a lot of love for Josh’s debut for the red & the blue. A return of 3 & 4 goals in his only outings for Casey has me optimistic on a strong showing against the Kangas. Good luck Josh - 3rd time lucky

Super excited, from a good source they are on a serious pre season campaign

CHANGES: Rd 18 vs Port Adelaide
I’m hoping they use Brayshaw in Oliver’s inside midfield role and bring in Rivers for reinforcement to back 6. Both Dunstan and Melksham offer very little.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND: DANIEL TURNER
Congrats Daniel Turner - really excited by his form at Casey. Do we know if he is replacing Petty or Tomlinson?

Is David Noble the new Mark Neeld?
Although last year Roos was in the coaches box game day and one of the first things he did was to uncomplicate the game style. This year he is in US and they have returned to playing a complicated game plan that not even a hardened experience group could play. Not Neeld but may come close to ruining a generation of North players.

CASEY: Rd 05 vs Richmond
Agreed, was surprised it wasn’t called out by the commentary

The Kalani White Thread
Another son of an ex ruck continues to excel at his chosen sport. From all reports Tiernan Stynes continues to impress and made the state u/16 metro boys team in 2020 and is part of the state development team this year. Haven’t seen him play but from all reports is a very smooth, highly co-ordinated tall guard. Not sure if he is still playing footy but a cross over from basketball to footy if he doesn’t make it would surely bring a smile to a few Dee’s supporters.

Trade Targets
Posted in another thread that we have, alongside a number of clubs, met with Richards management. He certainly seems as though a realistic target. The less he plays the more likely he is on the move.

2021 Off season targets
One outside midfielder that we have spoken to is Ed Richards. We are one of three or four clubs that have been laying some ground work. Think we would get a lot out of him on the opposite wing to Langdon.

Scratch Match vs Pies (14/8/20)
Watching the doggies on the weekend and an undersized Dunkley spending some significant time in the ruck, I wondered what has happened to Kyle. Don’t believe he’s injured - does anyone have an insight on how he’s going. Thought he showed a little bit despite fitness being well underdone last year in his 5 games and playing largely in the graveyard at HFF in a poor side?

POSTGAME: Rd 06 vs Gold Coast
Thought O-Mac was terrific, and is the reason he was one of the core in 2018. He is never going to be a superstar, but his ball use is solid, he competes and allows others (Lever) to play their game. Enough with the temptations to play the more athletic Smith, I think O-Mac had Day for large parts of game who has been handy so far in 2020. I don’t think I heard his (Day’s) name. Well done Oscar

PREGAME: Rd 02 vs Geelong
Sam Frost – 7 As expected, Frost had the job on Tom Hawkins and the much-improved defender was very solid. The Cats forward booted two goals, but both majors came from set-shots where Frost's teammates did not do a good enough job of supporting him. Crucial to Melbourne's finals hopes. i think we are overlooking the simple explanation on Frost, he was more than solid on Tom Hawkins in final last year. As we all know we have been on the wrong side of Hawkins more than a few times over the year. I think Frost will have first crack, he has excellent physical attributes to go with him and allows May to be play more of a Lever type role which was clearly missing last week.
