Very true and it is great that Fev seems to be moving in the right direction. However, Fev is the type of player that needs a specific game plan built to suit him. Spending 2 years structuring a team around getting the ball to Fev means that our forwards never learn to be the focus, take the best defenders, lead from the square etc. They instead learn to play second fiddle to a dominant key forward, not get the hands on experience of trying to be one. I remember watching Carlton all those years and the game plan was simple, kick it to Fev and everyone else clear out of the way. I just don’t see how this helps our young forwards learn.

These thing are great, but don’t forget: • Theft of jackets from a drycleaners in North Melbourne; he was fined $8000 • Involved in an incident at Crown Casino no charges were laid, but he was suspended by Carlton for a week. • Assaulted a barman during a tour of Ireland in 2006 with the Australian International Rules team, and was sent back to Australia • Fined $10,000 and traded after behaving inappropriately at the 2009 Brownlow Medal count. • Proceedings started to sue Fevola for breach of privacy, defamation and misuse of an image for the release of a nude photo. • Formal police investigation into claims that Fevola had flashed a woman at a Brisbane park during a football clinic. • Arrested in Brisbane on charges of public nuisance and obstructing police • 65 days in rehabilitation for gambling addiction. I really like the guy and would absolutely love him to get another chance, but there is a lot of baggage that I think the MFC could do without.

31 next year is a bit too old for our side I think. Maybe if we were looking to top 4 next year he would be a consideration, however next year I think we will be looking to continue the development of our players and get some form of consistency into our game under a new coach. I know it’s a sucky excuse and this year has been massively disappointing with no progress but we are still an extremely young side and I still believe that next year we will take a huge step forward. I think our average games on Sunday was around the 60 mark. Of the players that ran out the following still have not even reached 50 games: Blease, Howe, Martin, McKenzie, Nicholson, Pettard, Scully, Tapscott, Trengove and Watts. Give these blokes another pre-season and another year playing together as a team and we should be making some real progress. Not sure that adding Fev into the game plan will be of much advantage when in 2 years when these guys are in their prime and the game plan is really clicking he is gone and our team style needs to change again. Would prefer to build a team around Pettard, Watts, Howe and Jurra forward and have Green and Davey as the older guys in support.

Wins aside, I think our poor percentage will hurt us.

What do you mean you don't blame him? You think that it is okay to bail on a club because it is going through a rough patch? I don't think he will go and don't even think he was that bad today but if you think that because MFC are struggling a little that its acceptable that its senior players should want to leave then maybe you don't understand what it means to be part of a football club. What you don't blame him wanting to leave cause things are a bit hard at the moment?

Was shown on the footy show last night. The place in unbelievable and will be available to all players for the first 2 years. Going for an American / US College Style apparently.

hahaha gold.

Agree Luke Ball is good player - B&F winner, All Australian a few years back. Gets the ball out and plays his role. However...... Judd is a 5 time B&F winner, 5 time All Australia, premiership captain, soon to be triple Brownlow medalist.
-
Comparing Ball to Judd is either totally under-estimating how good Judd is or totally over-estimating how good Ball is.

Loved when Garry was asked about it last night, three word response: I believe Tom.

And we know what happened last year when they paid out on Richmond....

I really hope your right. I wish sportsbet was giving odds on if he will stay I recon you would be getting great value in him staying at MFC. What do you think 10-1? More? Less?
-
Yeah maybe. But then on the other hand seeing things like Strauss breaking his leg might make him realize that you could be potentially 1 game away from it all being over (not that I think Strauss' career is over, just making a point that the tables can turn very quickly and some might say you should cash in while your value is high).

Yeah your right, bit pessimistic. I'll change mine to 3,483.

Once again people take any opportunity to bag Jones. I would have thought that he is one of the only players that actually works hard every week and continues to improve in an under achieving side 2011: 1st for disposals 3rd for inside 50's 3rd for rebounding 50's 3rd for goal assists 4th of Contested Possessions 4th for marks Not sure who people are expecting to step up and fill this role?

Understand your thinking but don't like when players get a free run of it. I am of the opinion you need to at least try and limit the damage and then make them accountable for an opponent. Essendon let Swan do as he liked on Sunday and it caused a 100 point turn around.

Juddy was 21 when he won the Brownlow then 23 when he was lifting the cup..... bit of an exception though.

Cameron Schwab use as a sacrifice to keep Tom Scully
Mac7 replied to 7-UP's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thomas has far more value than Scully from a marketing perspective also, given a choice between the two I would think that GWS would definitely take Thomas over Scully. If Thomas is weighing up his options maybe there will not be quite so much money left for Tom as first expected... -
Can Davey tag? We know that a strong tag takes him out of the game but if he has a completely defensive role on Judd and does okay it would not matter that he doesn't get much of the footy. Could also make Judd accountable with a bit of speed pressing forward on a turn over. He is maybe not strong enough around the pack...

Last time I checked Dale Thomas had still not signed... maybe he is demanding Eddie be sacked first? -
I agree 100% with all of this, my only concern would be putting too much pressure and workload on a young guy that is still developing his game. Would hate to stagnate his improvement

Dumbest most bitter thing I have ever read. As mentioned on another post; Debt gone, investments being purchased, record membership, state of the art facilities, a reunited club with the MCC, and then the bloke, half blind gets up and apologises for what has happened this week... does he have to take responsibility for every single person employed by the MFC personally? Do you have any clue how a large organisation works? Jim cannot do everything, others have to take responsibility. Yeah the supporters paid for the Debt Demolition... who do you think orchestrated the whole thing? Every single sporting organisation in the world would kill for the passion and workload Jim is willing to take on. Mate, the bloke is almost willing to die to see the club succeed!! If Fitzroy had a Jim Stynes they would not be playing in Queensland. But I suppose it is easier to sit on the internet and take pot shots rather than have to actually do some something about it. Oh sorry did you put in some extra money once? Good On You!!! Thats the equivalent to dedicating ever spare hour you have to the club. Get a clue you fool.
