  1. I can help them out. Here's a logo they can use for AFLX:
  2. Presumably the Carlton members can vote for a change of President. I am quite surprised that there hasn't been much conjecture about a Board putsch, either.
  3. I expect he might have 7 kicks this week. Hope I'm wrong.
  4. You should expect a call from Matthew Richardson's lawyers. I think he's claiming copyright over that expression which he uses as his most stringent form of criticism without actually being critical.
  5. There's another former Melbourne player who I can't believe isn't in the Hall of Fame. How Brent Croswell has never been inducted astounds me.
  6. Made me laugh. I know what you mean, but I think most of us would prefer if Frost didn't return to his old self. While the current version still has one nervous every time he's near the ball, the 2019 Frost is far superior in overall output to the earlier version.
  7. The sad part is that there are many others at Carlton from the President down, who have failed at their jobs more than Bolton but either won't stand down or won't be sacked. It's the club that has failed, more than the coach.
  8. Not sure why Hibberd is on this list. He's 186 cm and generally plays on smaller forwards. However, I agree with the other four, although I think the answer is "yes" as both Hore and Frost should be able to play on smaller forwards.
  9. Either this is next level economic theory or you're just doing my head in. In essence, you're complaining that if Max wins, instead of winning $81 x $10 = $810 you're only going to win $67 x $10 = $670, a difference of $140. If you're concerned that you'll be "down another $10", aren't you saying you expect to lose altogether...which would mean you would be down $10 whether you took the $81 or $67 on offer?
  10. Did I see somewhere that Grundy might be injured and not playing Queen's Birthday? If that were to be the case, it would help us significantly but be a real shame for football. Having Gawn v Grundy is my idea of the best head-to-head match up going around. Two superb ruckmen.
  11. I don't disagree with your thesis, but should we end up at Casey (which I doubt will happen), we do have something else to sell to prospective players...playing roughly half our games each year at the MCG.
  12. For this season and last, yes. But for most of the last 10 years the inside 50 differential has not been in our favour.
  13. As incompetent as the AFL often is, they can't give Carlton a Priority Pick as it would make a mockery of the live drafting concept. If the AFL gives Carlton a PP, the AFL has effectively given any club carte blanche to misuse the live draft on the expectation that the AFL will clean up any mess they make in the process.
  14. I've been at the ground for a couple of night functions in corporate lounges and the grass-growing lights were on. It's possible they only put them on when corporate facilities are in use to add to the ambience of the night time event. They make the ground look pretty cool.
  15. As much as I hope the Pies return to Victoria Park, we may need to find ways to encourage the move. I think two additional facilities that should be included in any new Magpie home to encourage their supporters to support, or even demand, the shift would be a tattoo parlour and a free dental clinic. For those supporters who don't know what a dental clinic is, they can be told it's a museum which is giving Victoria Park some culture.
  16. I thought of Isaac Smith. But whether I was just dreaming that I hoped he would becomes like Smith or whether I thought he actually reminds me of him is more difficult to discern.
  17. I'll eagerly watch the spin-off series, Survivor AFL House
  18. We're bound to have had the fewest because for much of that time we were incapable of getting the ball into the forward 50 anyway. For this particular stat to have any relevance (and it would be an interesting guide), it will have to be measured as free kicks given as a proportion of forward 50 entries.
  19. I'm always amused at number of posters who want a player's return from injury delayed another week based on no insight. It's like scans, GPS results and the player's conversation with the medical team are all valueless. How would we know whether any player's treatment and return date are either aggressive or conservative?
  20. This is the real story. If Richmond can prove that the AFL forced them to do something at the same time the AFL denies having done so, it's an indictment on AFL HQ. Heads should roll (but probably won't).
  21. So, somewhat similar to Israel Folau in that rather than being penalised for what he said he has been penalised for breaching an undertaking he must have made. That makes more sense.
  22. I thought I heard someone say it wasn't an AFL decision but made by the Richmond FC. Either way, massive over-reaction, if it was for using the expression "green maggot".
  23. Perhaps also the most difficult game to officiate out of any professional sport. And the AFL should do something about that. It should start be reducing the number of rules where umpires have to make judgement calls. For example, why require an umpire to decide whether a ball is juggled over a boundary or goal line before deciding whether to pay a mark? Why not just say if the player touches the ball prior to the ball being over the line and completes the mark whether the ball is juggled or not, the mark gets paid. The deliberate out of bounds rule is also too subjective. The reasoning is sound but the execution is too difficult. Change it to something that is less subjective. For example, could the rule be changed so that a free kick is always paid if the ball only bounces once inside the line? In other words, "out on the full" would be become "out on the full or only one bounce". Rather than spending its time in denial about umpiring and virtually never admitting the umpires make mistakes, the AFL would help everyone if they made the job of umpiring significantly easier.
  24. I suspect Hannan and Kennedy-Harris were brought in one week earlier than planned so that next week we can bring in another tranche of formerly injured players. Hannan didn't look ready but I thought Kennedy-Harris was good. It is questionable whether it is wise to bring in all of Salem, Hore, May and Lever - 4 defenders - at once, even though all of them deserve their place in the team. Nevertheless, given where our season is at, I would bring them all in and omit O McDonald, Stretch, J Wagner and Spargo. Fritsch finally gets the chance to go forward in place of Spargo. Spargo could count himself unlucky as he was much better than Hannan, but he (Hannan) needs a second game before we judge him too harshly. Neal-Bullen, if he's ready, will have to wait another week. It's not like he has been dominating when he's been in the side and I think four unforced changes at once is enough.
