Well they were Collingwood highlights, so I would really hope so. Was watching myself and thinking where is our come back, havnt seen any of our late goals. not surprising, the pies played well. so it seems

Demonland Player of the Year - Rd 14
6. May 5. Petracca 4. Langdon (great either end of the ground) 3. Salem (composed game) 2. Gawn (back line intercept marks) 1. Viney (for his tag on Steele) The whole back line played well, OMac, Lever, Hibberd, Rivers, even Jones. I also thought that Spargo, Melky, Brown and Weid, all had important touches or moments. Pickett will be fantastic, creates uncertainty for the opposition. That last half of football was the most intense and strong willed from Melbourne that I can remember. Not greatly skilled perhaps but what a game, and we won a close one.... Go Dees

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Western Bulldogs
Watching on a very small screen, What appeared to me was that the backs did a competent job, the problem seemed to be that the ball came out of our i50 or from the centre with relative ease, therefore getting inside their scoring area quickly or accurately. Sometimes both. Against the pies, our attack seemed to get to the contest, just in time, and win most of the time. Against the dogs, it just did not happen, we got to the contest late. And they were well spread across the ground seemingly without a demon close by. I will read this and other threads to see what more competent observers think of our game yesterday. I can't organise my sock drawer and if you saw my business desk you would wonder how I managed my work for last 37 years, I wonder sometimes. The game style against Collingwood was great, the opposite yesterday, What went wrong and how do we fix it, not to blame anyone just how do we fix it. Repercussions can wait till December. Go Dees.

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Western Bulldogs
Wanted to wait a while, calm down then vent. just some points, I did think we could beat Footscray today, if we played like we did against Collingwood, but not to be... I do not think Max would have raised a win, so it was wise to rest him. Although I think St.Kilda will be harder to beat. They usually pummel us ! So we can beat the bottom two sides easily, even a depleted Pieside, but not with today's game plan and effort. We were playing very poorly but still in front at half time, If Fritz, Melky, and Kossy had kicKed straight... The third quarter was as bad as I can remember, For 186 I was heading OS, so missed it. but in that 3rd we were witches hats at training, was it like that. and our coaches did didley squat ! the game was effectively over after that. We still squared the last, almost. I do think Kossy will be a very great player, but now he is ineffective and needs to learn his craft a little bit better, he is too rushed or something. Our backs did OK, given the amount of times the ball was coming down. There was little or no pressure from our half forwards or centre line. There are days the ball just does not bounce your way and today we did not get one bounce like that. Perhaps we did not run hard enough. Bontempelli, not a bad player at all, but who was his opponent, how many times did he get a second possession or goal after giving off a pass or handball. getting it back and the dogs end up scoring. Hells Bells if I can see that it must be bloody obvious . I do think the dogs are a very good side, top 4 perhaps, and the Saints are not bad either. I think we sit 8 or 9 maybe 10th. But that's not a pass mark for our coaching staff, it was their job to prepare our players and in the 3rd they failed dismally. Still, we are still alive, see what next week brings, I hope its better than today.

GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Bulldogs
My thoughts, very even game, both sides at their best, fantastic, I think we shade them in the midfield overall, our backs at least equal to their forwards. and I think our forwards can shine on a dry day, about 10 points a quarter better side Demons, if we are switched on and play the four quarters. Betting shifting has no effect on what happens ob the field, unkless you are playing Carlton or Collingwood and they are betting their trip away money, Go Dees

CHANGES: Rd 13 vs Bulldogs
The decision to keep Preuss in for another game, is good for Gawn, therefore good good the Dees, but also really good exposure for Preuss himself, to show what he could do if he was no 1 at any Other club. If he was to look elsewhere will be a good advert to other clubs. Therefore really good for him. it will guarantee that he goes hard and long. Wish him well for tomorrow’s game

Tom Lynch Incident (incl. Dimma vs The Ox)
This topic is getting a good siting on here, no doubt because if the Ox. but is it being raised on any of the other clubs web sites, if it was getting as much exposure on the others then Hardwick may well regret making any comment. And Lynch might cop a bit of attention from players and umpires.

Tom Lynch Incident (incl. Dimma vs The Ox)
Thanks, Windy Hill therefore Essendon v ?? and only 46 years ago, Demons were not playing very well in 74 I was sitting in the red seats back then, given up playing for a while, and the cheer squad, so I sat on the sensible side of the ground. Go Dees

Tom Lynch Incident (incl. Dimma vs The Ox)
Was it Richmond and Essendon that had a brawl during a finals game about 30 years ago ? I know its not the South Melb bloodbath v Carlton (??) from the 1950's My memory has gone now, once I stopped drinking too much beer, Not sure I respect Mitch Robinson, but it [censored] me off badly when he called us softy's probably cos it was too close to the truth !!

Tom Lynch Incident (incl. Dimma vs The Ox)
If you look at both Hardwick and the Ox which one out of their replies through the media comes out smelling OK. I think it’s clear, the Ox was raising something that was being discussed widely. It was a cheap hit by Lynch Hardwick resorts to personal retorts that remind all of his dubious past enough said !

Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
This is a great thread, not sure I understand it all. I can see that some of the players have tweaked their method of play. And it’s working. If we can win the next couple of games, I might believe in Goodwin again. I will certainly re read this thread. just live watching Ollie burst forward or Tracca and having the Weid step up with Kossy and last week Spargo at the drop. our backline is SOLID does not seem to matter who is in or who is out. May, Lever, Salem and Hibbo seem to handle it. let’s stay a bit unpredictable. And the opposing teams only have a few weeks to work out how to handle our winning ways. its good to have a bit of confidence Go Dees !!
