Mooney backs the Dees
According to those numbers if we bounce back to our trajectory of the past 5 years we are looking at approximately 18 wins this year... ??? Go Dees...

vandenBerg Feeling Fit After Return
Vandenberg is key to the manic forward pressure game that had us unravel top teams in 2018. Him crashing and hunting opens the congestion for others to wreak havoc. He can also mark and kick goals, and hurt the opposition fairly... a very useful trait in modern sanitised footy.

Training Ground?
I donât get why youâd need a âmassiveâ 20 Ac facility to train a single men and womenâs footy team..? Tech, good equipment, best fitness and coaching staff, enough space for the team to have unimpeded access to gear, etc... but thereâs only 44 odd men in training with minimal overlap with the womenâs team (which at a pinch could continue to train at Casey). I think a hi-tech compact facility in center of town is far more attractive (to players weâre courting) and effective than 20 acre in the middle of nowhere. The fact we train along side soccer and rugby teams adds to the energy and potential for innovation... Bigger and more, is more about the egos at play than the proven benefits of such largess on the performance of the team...

State of Origin Squads
Another well timed slap in the face of our playing group. No respect given. (and understandably so) Hoping our 2020 season runs like a redemptive Tarantino movie, violent, entertaining, and ultimately cathartic. Go Demons.

Training Ground?
I think the best prion is to stay right where we are, and build smarter into and over our immediate surrounds, ie over roads to Yarra to South of Gosheâs paddock etc do that in combination with other shuffles in the area and we should be good for another 50 yrs.

To Hell & Back Episode 2
I thought the mise-en-scene, camera work and dialogue was top notch in episode 2, with the Shrine, Harleys interrogation and cathartic hug with the big guy, even has a bit of comedy from Gus... Brilliant stuff, show me any other club putting out such high grade docs!!?!? roll on episode 3! Hoping for them to take it up another notch ?

MFC Strategic Plan for Next 4 Years
Our board are astute operators, movement on facilities wouldnât be in there unless they are close to concluding on a doable solution.

Young Guns Primed for Round 1
To be honest Iâm more excited at the prospect of Tomlinson, Langdon and Vandenberg also playing Round 1. Add LJ and Kossie as icing and talented kids learning the game, while the seasoned men provide the mettle and meat required to knock the Eagles off at home.

To Hell & Back Episode 2
I think Burgessâs point to the players that, having done âanother 35-37km weekâ, that the team didnât get to that point ever in their preseason last year, AND that next week they were going 20% higher. This is Key to title, and reason for optimism. To use another phrase from episode two, last year we couldnât âcontrol the controllable â (preseason, player prep, season prep, etc...) thatâs was âHellâ and flowed through the year. This year, as both episodes have touched on weâre âbackâ, in control of those elements we can control and optimise. For professional football people we were in Hell in 2019 months before the season started. So we can (and hopefully are) be âbackâ in the preseason too... love the videos and like the title.

To Hell & Back Episode 2
Excited hearing Vanders say â... the skyâs the limitâ... re his foot and footy. If our stars align in 2020 and our best 22 are fit and firing we are a top team. Good signs, fingers crossed.

Injury List 2020
I think that we are in a pretty good spot re-injuries. We appear to be pushing the boys very hard on the track, but being ultra-conservative (and slow to re-introduce them) if they have injuries or niggles. Of the current injury list, only Preuss is clearly out for part of the season (aside from tyhose injured prior to the pre-season in KK, Bennell and Neitschke. My guess all (the TBA) will be back in full training over the next couple of weeks to a month, and if we were in the season proper some of the "injured" players would be working through it to play next week...

The Breaking of Nathan Jones
I think Jone will have a resurgent year without the âweightâ of the captaincy to bear. Have faith.

The Breaking of Nathan Jones
Jones deserves a send off similar to what the Hawks gave Crawford. I truely hope he gets it.

To Hell & Back Episode 1
At one point Goody mentions that our poor 2019 gifted us a "golden ticket" the first part of which was the extra time they had to work on their fitness and game prior to next year... I was wondering what the other elements of the "golden ticket" are, so figured I'd list them. Golden ticket parts Additional Pre-season time to prepare (recover from surgery, etc...), Access to higher draft picks (Jackson, Picket), Improved draw, Hunger driven from humiliation at 2019, at individual and team levels, Distillation of what works from what does not work, across the club, and renewed focus on what works. One of the things Part 1 reminded me is that aside from (or as a result of) our crap onfield performance in 2019, we have been aggressively moving well to take full advantage of the "Golden ticket" with the appointment of Burgess, focused and successful trade and draft, and early pre-season intent and healthy hours at high level being pumped into the team... Jones call out to his team mates to stand up and take on more leadership (interesting to note who the camera identified as he said this i.e. Trac, Brayshaw ... Bring on Part 2... Go Demons.

To Hell & Back Episode 1
I liked it, thought it was vulnerable and courageous of Jones to lead with his heart. And of the club to show how theyâre responding to the pain of 2019.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
It sounds like Freo have tried to put some pressure on Jesse via media scuttlebut to get his social life in order, which would ideally help him handle any mental health Issues. Classic good cop (club), bad cop (media speculation) routine being played out. Itâs amateur, disrespectful and self fulfilling, in that if thatâs how Freo handle players going through such issues and times, it contributes to making it unlikely Jesse will play footy for them again.

Dees 2020: The Good, Bad & Ugly
On Frost, and âFrost Ballâ, it was fun to watch, when it worked, and a sign of our desperate lack of depth when it didnât. Prefer Harmes or Smith or even Tomlinson playing the role Frosty played. I will miss yelling âFROOOSTY!!!â Excitedly as he charges chaotically forward...

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Have a year off Jesse, get sorted/well... Then come home to the Dees! ps was thinking about how much structure and support Jesse had built in his time at MFC (ages 17-23), and that walking away from that to go to Freo may not have helped him...
