  1. Letโ€™s not get too carried away after 1 round of footy vs a very depleted Freo forward line. May (and Lever) played well, but aside from when May was on Fyfe he was on very average players.
  2. He left the ground bracing to bump the Crows kid, and left him concussed with a broken nose. As clear cut case for suspension as the AFL likely to get this year, need to set an example.
  3. Weโ€™re also over 6 months out from the gF..$
  4. At game and the AFL played our unconscious anthem... Bring on 2021, the year of the Demons! ??
  5. Good blend of experience and youth. I was thinking about our end-to-end lines i.e from FB to FF, as itโ€™s our ability to connect (and defend) along these lines that weโ€™ve been working on, and if we can get right will see us rise. Expect Maxy will play forward a lot, roaming up when balls in our defence, with our smalls setting up around and working off him, and the contested space around him. Feeling confident that weโ€™ve got the approach, age, speed/endurance, and motivation to win today, and as players return evolve into a powerful unit as the season progresses. as I was called recently in regard to my MFC thoughts Iโ€™m โ€œbravely optimistic โ€œ. Dees by 5+ goals Go Denons!

  7. Richmond are ripe for the plucking... beating up on a young and weak Carlton outfit, Big deal. Theyโ€™re gonna go down this year, I just hope itโ€™s us riding them into the wall. ?
  8. Give me three years Clint, should be clear by then...
  9. Rd 1 - game 1 - โ€œCasbolt was mounted!!โ€ (Free to air, sometime in second half). Gold.
  10. We used to sing a fun and funny song about Oscar McDonald... was a shame when he left. mind you, Farmer, weโ€™re a better team for it, despite us all loving Oscars cute puppy dog looks. Went to the tune of โ€œFrosty the snowman... heโ€™s a ...โ€, had to adapt after Frosty was moved on.
  11. โ€œCasbolt was mounted!!โ€
  12. That was funny!
  13. 5 touches and a goal... can play back, can play forward...
  14. Oscar kicked a goal!
  15. Oscar has been activated!!! ?
  16. Respectfully disagree 58er. its fanciful and unfair to both Bowey and Jetta to think an 18 year old new recruit with minimal footy last year could come in and out perform a 10+ year veteran who's craft is sublime even as his physical prime passes. I'd suggest at least 4-22 weeks learning, building skills and body in the VFL would be what Bowey needs in order to eclipse Jetta. can you imagine Bowey one-on-one versus say Green (GWS) or Cameron (Lions) ..? He'd get murdered. Jetta can hold his own, even if they'd take him on the burst. The kids will come in when they force it based on accumulated form in the VFL, not because they're new and shiny, and like all new things offer the promise of future glory. Jetta has a well earnt reputation as a solid and experienced backman, and while his time will come, it should only come when others exceed him in realty, not imaginations.
  17. Bowery may take Jets place in the team in a year or two, whenโ€™s learnt half of what Jetta has forgotten about defending. Jetta may have lost some pace, but his contested defensive work, poise and experience still make him the best option for deep back, and Hunt can be the last back when weโ€™re stretched forward...
  18. Was it Chicoโ€™s Poet team that kill the Dons run after they belted us in 2000? if so, all hail Nark Williams!!!
  19. I find the โ€œreplacement for Simonโ€ narrative tedious, and are more interested in the issues in our team that Mark was specifically hired to address. He mentioned a couple, kicking being one, he seems a great team bonder, what else? I like to think that the footy brains trust at the MFC have a strategy in motion with the additions of Williams and Yze, and if it all comes together (under Simon Goodwin, our coach), weโ€™ll have a happy year. Cannot wait.
  20. Does anyone know anything about Yzeโ€™s midfield plan or philosophy? I figure as an ambitious smart and experienced assistant coach heโ€™ll be wanting to weave some magic on our underperforming midfield group. Watched โ€œThe Last Dance.โ€ recently, and was thinking about that almost anonymous assistant coach who developed the โ€œTriangleโ€, kinda hoping Adem can innovate as well. Bring on the Dockers at the G, and letโ€™s see if we have a new midfield...
  21. True, but four goals while also rucking, with an afl seasoned body... he may be more ready than has been let on... itโ€™s not like heโ€™s had a year out of the game.
  22. Sooooo, comms issues aside, sounds like Gus, Kozzie, Vanders and Daws has good games, are ready and have put their hands up for round 1. I like to hear that Kozzie is spending time in the middle, as his agility and skill can be dynamite in congested spaces. Does Daws come in for Jackson or TMac? Did Hibbard play full 4-quarters with intensity, and is he ready? good signs.
