Tonight is the turning point for the MFC.
IWAP replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
A disgrace that the club is not writing individualised and personal emails to all supporters that write in. I understand we have limited resources, so why are we wasting time with all these extra developmental coaches, and modern sports science techniques when there should be full-time staff employed to write to supporters to comfort and assure them that everything will be alright. -
I'd always worry about conflict of interests with a father coaching a son, and any potential fallout if Jack ends up being a gun, and if we have to sack his old man. Not the same kettle of fish, but Frank Lampard put in a transfer request from West Ham in the EPL, when they sacked his father.
-
This is fantastic if it happens. Win-win. GWS get a draft pick that they wouldn't have gotten otherwise, and we won't have to use a 1st round draft pick to secure Jack.
-
I must say it was refreshing to hear Hawthorn supporters complaining about his lack of speed and the innacuracy of some of his disposals
-
I'm with Sylvia Saint on this one. Was at the game so didn't hear today's commentary, but if anything, he is usually anti-Melbourne in his calling.
-
ok, i'll drop out - but will be around online this afternoon if needed.
-
Have signed up - don't think i can do a draft during a weekday, but i'm happy to pre-rank my players.
-
i'll give it a go - if there is still a spot
-
Warnock anyone? I would have thought with Frawley out, we need another big bodied defender.
-
I'd be happy for him get a game early on to see how he goes in the real thing, but i don't think he's ready just yet to replace anyone in the starting 22. Looked liked he adapted to the pace of the game reasonably well, just needs a bit more composure when disposing of the ball. Agree Jones and Moloney in the midfield can be of concern, and I'd imagine team selection may get quite interesting when Gysberts is fit and ready to go.
-
The kid has looked ok so far, but lets not get carried away. They were just pre-season games. Bail, Jones and Gysberts would be comfortably ahead of him for selection (although fitness may rule out Gysberts).

I think the media are making this into a much bigger deal than it really is. He wasn't kicked out of crown. He was reminded that he is a problem gambler, and perhaps should not be there. He could have stayed had he chosen to. I doubt Casey will particularly care that much. But its pretty disturbing that relatively soon after spending months in a rehab clinic, he has chosen to go down this path. Hope for his family's sake that he can shake the habit. Really needs to take a lesson from Schwarta's book 'All Bets are Off'.

Sting in the tail for Casey Our own VFL side? Love it!

Anyone in Tassie this Friday night?

Had a great morning tea break looking through all the memorabilia on your website. You've got a fantastic collection! -
Sigh. I wish we had the cash for our own VFL side

1. Think it was Wallace that mentioned Maric and Jetta were competing for the same spot. I think he was just going with the indigenous player stereotype (crumbing small forward). He's a lot closer to a midfielder than a forward IMO 2. Brisvegas were pretty strong as far as i could tell. Missing Brown, Banfield (also Fevola, Riscitelli, Brennan and Sherman) 3. Tapscott was awesome. Although probably lacks match fitness. If fit, would be far ahead of Strauss IMO

Please, please don't release the sex tape if there is one!

I liked this idea when i thought we would move the club somewhere more viable. It just won't make money in its present location. I used to live 5 minutes walk away, and even i used to get lost getting there. Its seriously hard to find - in a side street off another side street.

I think Fraser is a good buy - as you'd expect he'll do the vast majority of rucking for GC Bailey from Hawthorn has a rock bottom price and should get plenty of gametime ... provided no more complications with his knee

Training with us Permission to train list - 30Nov
-
Two more names for the list. Ben Jakobi (Coburg) Daniel Nicholson (Uni Blues)
-
He had an injury the pre-season which he struggled to overcome. I think some people are a little short-sighted. Not for MFC, but will be a handy pickup wherever he goes.
-
I think the AFL misunderstood us when we requested a Friday night game....
-
The wording is "up to 70% off" which means there will probably be a couple of fremantle stubby holders that are marked down from $5 to $1.50, and the rest will be 5%-10% off. I'm not sure if it applies to this sale, but Essendon FC get a percentage of all sales from the Etihad Stadium merchandise outlets. Thats enough to turn me away.

I agree with you on Spencer. He has had enough time, and should be given a decent go in the ones. I’m not advocating for Skipper to come in and play 22 games as 2nd ruck. My argument is Skipper > Johnson. If we delist Johnson, and don’t pick up another senior ruckman, we’re left with 1 proven AFL ruckman, and 3 unproven youngsters (1 coming of a knee reco, 1 chronically injured last year), and an un-proven part-timer in Martin. If something happens to Jamar, it would hinder Spencer’s development, if he had to shoulder the majority of the ruck all year . Skipper, if available, would require a rookie list selection, in a compromised draft. Pretty cheap. Haven’t seen Sinclair, so I can’t comment on him.
