Emma Quayle Moving Article On Nathan Jones
Moonshadow replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Seven coaches in nine years! Sheeesh! If I had that many different bosses in that time I'd go round the twist! Jones is certainly patient. -
Hard to take you seriously with that avatar ^ , and with that suggestion

Zac Jones at 16. Either he's shot up in the rankings or as Denis Cometti would say, ambitious.

Translation: "Mmmmmmm, fresh meat...."

Yes, to some extent you are right there Sue, and if it was cutting edge it wouldn't be put online by the Swans Academy. It should be standard practice at most clubs and would be nothing new to those in the industry. The question is, have these techniques been drilled in at the MFC? We know Roos can do it at senior level, but these clips make it clear that he is a good communicator and instructor at all levels. And the obvious connection with the players was the keen line up for a hand shake with the guru. Or am I taking this too seriously?
-
Or Luke Hodge (Salem) or Jonno Brown (Hogan) or Stevie Johnson (Lennon) or Simon Black (Sheed). We seem to be prematurely hopeful (if that make sense) of what the current draftees will become. Makes it hard for them to live up to the hype.
-
Great little clips dd36. Very well explained and exampled. Really looking forward to seeing what Roos can do with our lot. As an aside, anyone know when training starts up? Will be interesting to see how things change this preseason from last.
-
Not sure. I would have thought that Roos wants the best available mid at 9 that has a decent sized body (unless Aish or Kelly slip to 9, which is highly unlikely). If that is Salem or Sheed, then I don't think we can have enough mids of that ilk.
-
Will be interesting to see Emma Quale's draft prediction a few days before as she usually gets it spot on.
-
Geez, watching through some of those videos there looks to be quite a few good choices around the pick 9 mark. Haven't seen any of them live, but it makes the decision to trade pick 2+20 for Tyson+9 look like a winner. Many in the media and on here have said that the draft thins out after about 14. Nice work Dees.

How much football have Demonland members played?

Not to mention that of Father Peter. -

Not many under age of 40 though dd36 I hear BBO wore a cap, lace up vest, 3/4 pants and a sizeable tash when he played. -
Big of you.

Helps if you know the names of the players on our list Benny, might just give you a smidge of credibility. The broken leg comment and youtube clip was in relation to another poster's comment that we draft injury prone players, such as JAMES Strauss or Blease. It does not surprise me that the line of conversation is lost on such a narrow mind as yours.
-
I'll take that to be sarcasm Toady. If not, you seriously have NFI.
-
Hard to crystal ball this on draft day. Ditto Blease.

Actually, I'm gonna agree with you Twistie. I dated a girl that played for the Muggars (Melb Uni) and they went hard at it. Skill level not great, but fantastic enthusiasm and love for the game. Was fun to watch.I played some school footy and then u16-u18 eastern districts footy league. Was pretty rough and wild back then, not really my strengths unfortunately. When I mentioned in conversation where I played people often replied with "Oh really? Show us your tatts". This was when mostly crims, sailors, carnies and Islanders had ink. Highlight was having Barry Rawlings take training for a few weeks towards the end of his career. We were shite. Edit. Finally figured how to return your avatar pic Bitty and get your sarcastic mojo back into gear? -
Also BB no one demanded to be traded out. Sylvia as a FA is in a different situation and after 10 yrs he probably saw that Roos et al would demand far more of him and give him less latitude as a senior player than a 21 or 22 yr old. Perhaps the list on the whole have more optimism for the future under Roos and Jackson. A good sign if that is the case.
-
Or should they be filed out to the press in Casey jerseys?
-
IMHO Goffy, sometimes the 'ignore' feature on 'land can be an absolute blessing. Would be mildly interesting to see a list of 'landers who have the most ignores set to their posts.

Haven't seen him live, but from the various online clips he seems to have good disposal and very good vision, in the style of Luke Hodge as others have noted. However, he doesn't look particulary quick. Short and stocky build, breaks tackles but not blessed with speed. Does this sound about right to those that have seen him play? I would have thought that a lightening quick mid with good delivery skills would be handy for us now that we have Tyson, Vince, Michie on board.
