  1. With Slone re-committing, the big cash from Norf, Saints and Hawks will focus on Gaff and Lynch. Hope we've got big space in our cap. I'm concerned we still have a couple of dees yet to put pen to paper
  2. Careful Biff, the best part of you goes to Werribee
  3. 13 contested. He's no longer just an outside player. Still 5-6 years left in his career
  4. Lucky he didn't knock on your door Toady
  5. 'Uncle's truffles', it's called in Victoria, Ethan
  6. Wonder if they serve banana smoothies at this fine establishment
  7. Would still like us to have a crack at Wallis from WB. Think he might be gettable
  8. Maybe we should take a leaf out of the Boomers book of fighting back
  9. We have a few who are quick, but have average foot skills or just don't get enough of it. Hunt is a poor kick, Stretch goes missing, Baker is apparently a poor kick as well. Then we have a number who aren't quick but have good foot skills, e.g. Salem, Jetta. Unfortunately, Lewis and Vince now struggle with both. Would be ideal to pick up/trade for someone quick off the mark who can use it well
  10. Gaff is just ok, but only if he won a B&F or finished top 3 in the Brownlow or was an AA, then I'd want him at the Dees
  11. How dare you let facts and reason get in the way of childish defiance!

The industry they are in is football, not a share price, dividend driven market. And yes, they still do the equivalent to meat raffles, eg. Silent auctions for wine, jumpers, president lunches, etc. CEOs in real business don't do that. Missed the point again. Keep going if you wish. I'm out.

Missed the point again. Let's move on chap

Sorry chap, you missed the point, which was that I was surprised PJ wasn't involved in any way. Not sure which bit you are struggling with, unless you don't trust him or disagree with his opinions. The admin is part of a football club, which is not like a "normal business". Comparing a footy club with a normal business is a mistake, otherwise we would've folded years ago Caro has better intel than you could ever hope to salivate over. Sour grapes

I too would've consulted PJ. The guy is an open book. I highly doubt he wouldn't put the club's interests first or let ego get in the way. Pert's appointment may be a master stroke, but to me it sounds like the process could've been handled better. That Bartlett read the landscape wrong is evidence of this.

As I said, lol posters playing the man. Wilson named plenty of people. If you read it for what is says without rose coloured, anti-Caro glasses, there are clearly some concerning issues in the appointment process. Comparing an AFL club with a "normal business" is ridiculous. It's similar to posters comparing player payments with what they'd get in the 'real world'. Apples and oranges. Jackson being involved in the selection process, as opposed to "ticking off the incoming" CEO, makes perfect sense, unless of course, you don't respect or trust PJs opinion. I certainly do.

I thought it a good article, assuming what she writes is accurate. There's a lot in there that I wasn't aware of, some of it unfortunate. What concerns me is the separation of PJ from the selection process. He has more knowledge of how to run an AFL club that the whole board put together. Also, the lack of contact with some of the key people during Pert's time at Collingwood seems to defy due diligence by the board. And lol to posters playing the (wo)man rather than the ball.
  18. Nice sentiment, but imo on a 12 deg, wet winter twilight game at the G vs Freo, Port, Brisbane or GCS we would be lucky to draw 20,000. I haven't checked figures from a range of attendances of interstate teams vs lowly supported Vic teams (like us) this year at the G. And would the property above the Jolimont rail line be ours or would we lease the development from the govt? The state and/or federal govt would need to tip in at least half of the money needed to build. Not sure they'd give us ownership as well.
  19. Ignore function is a sanity saver when it comes to Deeluded's posts. Except of course, when others quote him
  20. He's not a FA, so Norf will have to trade for him on top of paying $1mill pa. Probably 1 rounder + second rounder. This could come back to bite Norf on the bumm
  21. Bet he was aiming for a hole-in-one
  22. Sorry, what??? Giving every young kid on our list "a go" is a prerequisite before drafting new kids??? Are you aware AFL rules state we must turn over min 3 each year (I think). Surely some of these replacements will be kids from the draft
