Aaron vandenBerg not going - signs a new deal!!!
He doesn't "owe" the club anything. He's played out his contract, if he leaves we will get something in return. That's the way it works. Get a grip man. That sort of talk is purile.

I'd take a 3 year contract near family anyday over a 1 year contract 900km away. Even if it was for a bit less money. Was looking forward to seeing him in red and blue next year, but I respect his family loyalty. I hope we get trade value for a player now injury free and showing promise late in the season.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
A mate's family used to take turns presenting the Fitzroy B&F trophy to the winner each year. His family were related to the club official the award was named after (don't ask me to say who, as I have no idea). Anyway, each year the winner or placegetter was poached by a power club as poor old Fitzroy was near bust. Pert, Osborne, etc all abandoned the sinking ship. On the year my mate's turn came up, he presented the trophy to Paul Roos and broke tradition by announcing to the crowd it was now Roosy's opportunity to declare he would resign with the Lions. Handing the mike over to Roos, the response was, "Thank you very much for the award." And he left the stage. Well, you can imagine the silence as 300 fans sat, mouths agape in the knowledge that their club champion, star player was leaving. The following year he was at the Swans.

Sure, but I responded to your post which claimed: "All those “Dees better without Hogan” articles and posts couldn’t have helped his frame of mind re staying. So now you're referring to TV. Not sure Hogan watched the Geelong game on TV if he was there in the box next to Lever. I think he'd be nothing but wrapped for Weid. If Hogan pays no attention to AFL media, which is not uncommon (and also healthy) for players, it would have zero impact on his frame of mind re staying.- Farewell Jesse Hogan
Paywall. Does it say Jesse reads Demonland or pays attention to social media?- Rumour File
Sounds like this is going too be a crazy trade period. What else is in the mix #ethandoesdallas ?- Farewell Jesse Hogan
You honestly think he reads Demonland or media/social media at all, especially at trade time? I am confident that players are told not to look at footy forums and to keep their social media accounts closed.- Farewell Jesse Hogan

Yes, as i wrote, RFA in 2020, not 2021 as you stated. But he can leave at the end of his contract, RFA or not, under the scenario I mentioned.- Farewell Jesse Hogan
What, no riddle? All of the bolded parts are your opinion, of course. Not fact, a given or even the view of many here. One of your points is plain wrong. Hogan can just leave at the end of next year. He can go into the draft, nominate his price and go elsewhere, particularly if Freo finish bottom or near bottom. And he's a RFA in 2020, not 2021.- Farewell Jesse Hogan
FWIW, Karl Langdon just mentioned on SEN that he bumped into Jesse's mum outside Optus Stadium last week and "bombarded her with questions". She said Jesse loves living in Melbourne, he was homesick initially, but given his dad's death, does not have that drawcard anymore. He said she told him she loves coming to Melbourne city about 6 times per year to visit Jesse (I thought she lived in Melbourne???). Langdon flippantly added Hogan would be more likely to go to another Melbourne based club than to WA. This is Karl Langdon, though, so grain of salt. - Rumour File
