Farewell Jesse Hogan
So is Hogan in 14 months

Worth remembering the rise in the SC every year. As much as $1mill per year is an outrageous amount to the average punter, the number of players getting this will increase over the next few years. Oliver will get it next contract, easy.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Haven't seen the OTC interview, but seriously folk, did anyone think he'd say anything else? Goody was hardly going to say he's up for trading Hogan in October. It's the start of our first finals in 3279 years and all coaches would state the obvious in this case.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
There's a lot more emotional outragists on this thread who refuse to even consider the possibility of Hogan playing elsewhere. Reminds me a bit of the Mitch Clark era. I doubt any right minded person wants Hogan to leave, but discussion about our needs and where he fits into that, including the possibility of a trade, should not be dismissed. I'd be disappointed if the club wasn't doing similar.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
We've played some pretty good football without Hogan over the last couple of years, even going back to the win at Kardina Park 3 years ago. We are bigger than any one player, perhaps with exception of Gawn and Oliver. Weid has shown improvement and expectations are that he will continue to do so. I'd prefer to keep Hogan, maybe consider him off half back as others have said. I'm not in the emotional 'keep at all costs' camp as I think we have bigger holes in the midfield that need addressing. I do not see Hogan as the quality midfielder we need to find. Cerra and pick 5 may not improve us now, but they'd sure as hell improve us in the next 4-5 years as we play more finals. Pick 5 could be included in a trade package for a mature player, eg Whitfield or Cogniglio. It's all hypothetical, but I'd bet my house that the club is looking at everything possible

My thoughts too Bub. We are run professionally these days, the recruiting guys look at all scenarios so that we aren't potentially caught with our pants down. No harm in us discussing likewise on Land

Farewell Jesse Hogan
I'd be truly amazed if Taylor, TViney and Mahoney weren't doing due diligence and assessing the value of most players on our list and considering what deals might get done in trade week, likely or unlikely. IMO only Gawn and Oliver are untouchable, possibly Jack Viney too. Thankfully, the FD isn't run by the emotional outragists like yourself who shout down reasonable discussion. Stick with the riddles mate, the comedy festival awaits.

That might also depend on the severity of the injury and speed of recovery. Iirc Goodwin said it was caught very early and expects full recovery in readiness for next year. Other club doctors would consult specialists to form an opinion. On the other hand, if, if the injury is a worry, would we be better trading now rather than delaying for less later?- Andrew Gaff
No. This year he has added an inside element to his game. He's now a classy outsider who also does inside work very well. I'd pass on Sheed ATM- The No T$ No B$ Thread

Jed Anderson is yet to recommit to Norf. Played 20 games and has done quite well this year. Might get squeezed out.- Andrew Gaff
My understanding is the AFL can give a compo pick anywhere. It could be after their first pick, say 20 or 21, or they could just say mid 1st round, which would be about 9 or 10.- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM

Like the concept of trying Hogan in the backline during the preseason. He has terrific versatility. I'd like to see Weid played regularly next year. He showed a bit on the weekend and I think he'll become a good key forward. Not enough space in the forward 50 for Weid, Tmac and Hogan every week.- Sam Weideman
