  1. I met him briefly with his parents a few months ago. Charming young man.
  2. David Cloke used to run the Celtic Club in Lonsdale Street. Perhaps he mellowed over the years? In any event, I found him to be an OK bloke.
  3. That's true. However missed shots for goal are deflating for team mates and have a negative impact on the team's performance. Well, that's what I reckon.
  4. Lynch is 199 cm (he's huge), Gunston 193 cm. Fritsch is 188 cm. But agree with you that he plays tall.
  5. B https://www.justhorseracing.com.au/tips/13-10-2019-horse-racing-tips-and-best-bets-cranbourne-cranbourne-cup-day/553176 I have found this site to be pretty good for provincial meetings. (Not so good on metropolitan meetings.) Here are their best bets for Cranbourne today. BEST BET: Race Eight Number 5 William Thomas NEXT BEST: Race Three Number 13 Zorro’s Dream LONG SHOT: Race Two Number 9 Royal Crown
  6. I was at that match. Very moving. The players linked arms before the match and played like they wanted to honour Troy's memory. The team's efforts in milestone matches thereafter has been very poor.
  7. Perhaps this is slightly off topic, but does anyone else hate the word "bespoke" ?
  8. I stand corrected. FWIW, De Goey's injury was far less serious. But my overall point remains the same.
  9. He's invariably outcoached Roos & Goodwin
  10. The problems are chronic. Years of failure, low membership (which will be worse next year), lack of funds/resources. Players at clubs like Geelong, Hawthorn and now Richmond are prepared to sign on for less money than they could get elsewhere because they see the value in potentially playing in premiership sides. Not so with the Demons. I don't know how much Brayshaw is being paid, but I suspect it is more than he would get at one of the clubs I've mentioned. So that has an impact on the salary cap. Similarly, star players (e.g. Lynch) don't want to come to the club. MFC needs someone like him ... or Cameron. No chance. So the rich get richer and ... well you know the point. As for resources, when De Goey was injured they flew him to Germany for treatment. I doubt that MFC would have the money to do that. The big clubs' medical/development departments seem so much better equipped resourced than ours. Having regard to this, it makes the Bulldogs' premiership win all the more amazing. And Leceister in the EPL. Of course, in each case sustained success was not achieved. For my part, one premiership would be enough ... after supporting the team for 51 years!! Rant over ...
  11. I hate the filth.
  12. Are you kidding about Martin? I don't like him, but he is a total freak. Match winner. Some of the things I saw him do in the finals made me shake my head in disbelief.
  13. The club did offer him a contract. But not for an amount that he deemed sufficient.
  14. Viney finishing 3rd was unbelievable. Bring in the auditors. I was surprised that Salem didn't finish higher than seventh. And surprised that Hunt finished top 10.
  15. Apparently he was OK to play, but not among the rough & tumble of centre bounces. And AF, I haven't posted about Brayshaw's back issues before. I only got the inside word yesterday. 100% accurate.
  16. Not trade related. But Brayshaw wasn't played in the middle all year because he had back issues.
  17. Or they'll follow MFC's Baldrick plan of not reviewing a thrashing in a final at all!! That worked !!!
  18. ... doesn't fall far from the tree ....
  19. From an insider at the Club ... Frostie's asking price is way too high!! Club not prepared to pay what he (or his manager) is asking. If he doesn't lower his expectations, the Club will let him go.
  20. I was at the 1988 and 2000 GFs. Carnage.
  21. Perhaps he should kick more during matches? Rather than handball to teammates under pressure?
  22. Wagners are not AFL standard. Hopefully they are on minimum (or close to minimum) coin.
