Also, wasn't there discussion about suspending players who staged for free kicks?
-
Yes it's within the rules to do it, but if you duck and are taken high, it's meant to be play on.

Changes for Round 4 vs. GWS
Good Times Grimes replied to Good Times Grimes's topic in Melbourne Demons
Magner isn't allowed to play because he's on the rookie list. We need a long term injury in order to upgrade him. Unfortunately, you can't put Jamar, Frawley or Gillies on the LTI list for 8-10 weeks with a bad case of lack of heart. -
He wanted success in the twilight of his career. Can you blame him?
-
I guarantee you that we will not beat Brisbane. We will be lucky to beat GWS.
-
Here it is, for everyone's viewing pleasure.
-
Negative. We only drafted midfielders + Hogan. I have faith in Gawn, but I don't think he'll be dominant for at least a couple of years.
-
He was one of only three players on the ground that didn't take a mark. The other two were subs and played half a game between them. I didn't like Mark "Doughnut" Jamar last year, but this year I'm dead sick of him. Bring in Spencer, Gawn, Fitzpatrick...ANYONE that at least wants to look like they're trying.
-
It was definitely inconsistent. Clark was manhandled on a couple of occasions in marking contests with no free, yet Kennedy and Darling each got frees for the same thing. I really didn't like the high tackle calls for Ashton Hams; he ducked on every occasion and threw his head back before contact was made. There were also several passages of play where holding the ball should have been called but it wasn't and it ultimately led to a West Coast goal. Even if the umpiring was fair though, we were dominated and it wouldn't have made a difference.

Out: Toumpas-- needs some time in the VFL to get his confidence up. Jamar-- do I need to explain this? Bail-- I assume he'll need to rest his head In: Gawn Kent McKenzie (if healthy. If not, Strauss) I don't think we'll improve quickly if we keep making 5 changes a week. Gawn will provide some competitiveness that we just don't have with Jamar. If McKenzie is fit, he'll slot straight back into the side. GWS is a good team for Kent to have his first AFL game against, given that they are also young and developing, and shouldn't beat us by 100+. Disclaimer: These are the changes that I would like to see, not the changes I expect will be made.

DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Round 3
Good Times Grimes replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6. N Jones 5. Sylvia 4. M. Jones 3. Terlich 2. Viney 1. Clark Close: Howe, McDonald, Bail -
Have a read of this article, written in 2010 when our defence conceded the fourth least average points in the competition. Oh, how things have changed.
-
I'm sorry, what? You can't see much upside in Gawn? You've got to be kidding. Not only did he dominate in the ruck last week in just his second game back from a year-long lay-off, but he also led the tackle count, converted when up forward, and had 20 disposals. Oh, also, he's 208cm tall...the second tallest player in the league. Sure, there's chance that he could go the way of many of our other recruits and not live up to his potential, but I have no idea how somebody could not see his upside.
-
I agree. I wouldn't be opposed to playing him next week against GWS in a game that we have half a chance in. I'd hate to see him rack up 5 possessions in a 150 point belting and get sent straight back to Casey.
-
I'd rather they don't ruin his confidence in a 100+ point loss. I'd rather see him have his first go around against GWS next week.
-
I wonder if Jamar will get dropped after getting towelled by Cox this week. Thank God Naitanui isn't playing as well. Please play well for Casey, Gawn and Spencil. I'm sick of Jamar and I want some change in the ruck rather than cycling the usual suspects through the Scorpions and letting a former All Australian coast by on the reputation he developed through ONE good season.

This would be awesome. Please be true. It is so something that Eugene Levy's character from the American Pie series would do to try and be cool.

Finally, some attention on our biggest under performer
Good Times Grimes replied to jnrmac's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah....there is no parallel universe in which Collingwood would do that deal. -
I couldn't understand at the time why they gave him a 3-year contract extension. He showed very little last year, and his form the past two weeks has been terrible. He's had one good season in his entire career, and because of that he'll always have the All-Australian tag beside his name. If it were up to me, he would be playing AT LEAST the next few weeks at Casey. It will send a message to all the players that no one is safe, even if you're an "All-Australian", and it might be the kick in the pants he needs.

Alright, the season's underway! Who's your prediction for the 2013 World Series Champs? I like what the Jays have done in the offseason, but I find it hard to go past the Tigers. There's lots of good teams going around though...should make for an interesting season!

Nice read; I'm sorry for your loss.

DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - ROUND 1
Good Times Grimes replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is this thread some sick attempt at humour? I think from now on, we should vote for the 6 worst players on the ground, and the Demonland player of the year should go to the player with the least votes. Here's mine: 6. Sellar 5. Tapscott 4. Gillies 3. Watts 2. Pedersen 1. Rodan -
Who will be the next coach of MFC?
Good Times Grimes replied to bandicoot's topic in Melbourne Demons
The fact of the matter is, if the majority of your players have pea hearts, it doesn't matter who the coach is. -
That's not fair, he was easily one of our best. At least he looked like he was trying.
-
The supporters had every right to boo the players off. That effort deserved nothing less.
