  1. What is the vote format for the Scorps B&F? Great effort by Gawn, considering he played a fair chunk of AFL games in 2013.
  2. Similar sort of luck...Ottawa hasn't EVER won...worse than the Dees! I've hated Ottawa since they met the Leafs about 4 years in a row in the playoffs...it's a great rivalry! Well, it was. They haven't played in the playoffs since then and the Sens have had the upper hand in recent years. Can't wait until the next time we face you guys in the playoffs!
  3. Jones got 3, Scully got 1. I'll never complain when Jones is getting votes...he's always worthy of them.
  4. Question: Does the award go to the highest ranked first year player in the B&F, or is it an independent vote? If it's the former, I say Jones. If it's the latter, Terlich. Hard to split them, though. Viney would be a way back due to injury.
  5. Jesse Hogan us out 4-6 weeks with the knee injury he sustained on the weekend against Bendigo Gold. His next game will be for the Demons in round 1, 2014.
  6. Well deserved. The article on afl.com.au could use a bit of editing, though.
  7. Backs Lynden Dunn Colin Garland Dean Terlich Half backs Matt Jones Tom McDonald James Strauss Centreline Jordie McKenzie Jack Trengove Jeremy Howe Half forwards Jack Viney Jack Watts Shannon Byrnes Forwards Colin Sylvia Jack Fitzpatrick Troy Davis Followers Jake Spencer Jack Grimes Nathan Jones Interchange (from) Sam Blease Aaron Davey Max Gawn Dean Kent Cameron Pedersen, David Rodan Luke Tapscott I think the final bench will be: Davey, Kent, Pedersen, Rodan (Sub). Pedersen has done enough in the past few weeks to justify his spot for this week. Davey will have a farewell game at the MCG. Kent is a lock. Rodan has been playing well at Casey by all reports, and in the rain we need smalls and he is ahead of Tapscott IMO.
  8. Just as you'd expect they would. Melbourne better not offer him overs, he hasn't shown anything to indicate that he will get any better than he is now. I say trade him and get the best midfielder we possibly can.
  9. He DID want to play for MFC, that's why he renewed his contract a couple of years back. Hopefully we can bolster our midfield by trading him.
  10. If I was in Melbourne, I would. I'll be watching it though.
  11. To be honest, Freo is the team that I know least about. I could name a best 22 for every team in the league, but I'm not sure I could even name 15 Freo players.... never really watch them/read about them at all.
  12. I don't necessarily want to trade him, but I get the feeling he wants out. If the right deal comes along that can improve our midfield then I won't have any issues with him going. I guess we'll see in a few weeks.
  13. I don't really understand how the report didn't give evidence that any players were administered illegal drugs, yet the club and administrators were charged. How did they bring the game into disrepute if they didn't do anything illegal? Seems like Essendon have a very strong case if this goes to court, IMO.
  14. I would do Watts for Swallow in a heartbeat. Suppose Watts wants to go to Fremantle, though. What would we want back in that trade?
  15. Article is by Jon Ralph...holds no weight whatsoever. The guy is less reliable than a weatherman.
  16. What's preventing him from being an earlier pick?
  17. I'm sure I'll get hounded for this comment, but in recent years we've screwed up enough early picks that I would be more than happy for us to pay "overs" and select Jones in the second round and know that he'll be mentored by his brother and he's keen to be a Demon. Think about it: 2010 pick 12: Lucas Cook (0 games, "project player", delisted) 2009 pick 1: Tom Scully (31 Melbourne games, never interested in being a Demon, signed elsewhere) 2009 pick 11: Jordie Gysberts (19 Melbourne games, another "project player", no heart-- traded to North) 2008 pick 17: Sam Blease (30 games, doesn't seem determined, drifting back and forth between Casey and Melbourne) 2008 pick 19: James Strauss (22 games, selected for his excellent kicking, can't escape Casey and will be delisted) 2007 pick 4: Cale Morton (73 MFC games, skinny midfielder with no determination, traded to WCE for nothing) 2007 pick 21: Addam Maric (21 MFC games, "skillful small forward", didn't last long at AFL level) I didn't use any examples from the 2012 draft because it's too soon, and 2011's selections began in the 30s. My point, though, is that early picks haven't worked out for us in recent years for a variety of reasons. I'd love to see somebody who wants to play for Melbourne, is related to our best player, is big bodied and is by all accounts a reliable footballer selected with our second round pick, rather than us using it to pick more players like those listed above.
