I guess my issue is that he sooo untried at this stage- as you can tell, I am a [censored] "live in hope "type and I quite like Neeld as he appears to be the opposite. If we trade out Morton (who at times shows a bit) I semi get it as we have seen plenty of him to be able to say yeah....naaaahhhhhhhh. But this guy is two years in and injuries, no real preseason yet - have we seen enough to make the call ? The only thing that none of us are privvy to, which coaches are, are the close up hunger, passion and desire to make it. We see it from the other side of the boundary. It was interesting that someone posted Brett Lovett saying that Cook should never play for the MFC- it maybe that he has witnessed closely the complete absense of any desire that we see from the other side of the fence.

I'm really "Cale Morton" about Cale Morton. On fleeting occasions I'm wild about his prospects and then mostly I go all soft and flaccid and move onto something else rather than hit the contest.
-
You can't see the contradiction there ? You agree that talls take time in one breath but you wont concede time to Cook because right now he isnt good enough - how does that work ? I have no idea if he will make it or not and on EARLY INDICATIONS you could well be right. Here's the flipside - he is very young and under-developed and might make it. With smaller lists and a greater need for instant success giving time is a now a commodity in short supply but I get that. You will get zero apologies from me for your flawed logic but I am more than happy to come back and say you were 100% right when he is given a couple of years by another club and turns out to be a dud.

I could not agree with the OP anymore and to say that it is "recruiters job" to get comparisons on human flesh always right is a nonsense. All clubs make good calls and bad calls on recruiting and then you have to factor in development (or in our past years, lack thereof) I dont expect posters to name the top 20 but how about they pick who we should have taken with the picks we have. I,for one, am heartily sick of posters being rear vision mirror experts - "we could have had him or we shouldn't have picked him". I coulda shoulda picked 8 winners at the races last Saturday but I didnt. It is the easiest thing in the world to sit in a big fat chair 2 years down the track and name who we should have or shouldnt have picked. Cojones on the line now ! Pick who you would and wouldnt have taken straight after the draft is completed and then you can have bragging rights to come back to this thread and say "see, I told you so"

Ok -put your cojones on the line without the benefit of hindsight - did we get it right or wrong ?** **rules - if you think we got it wrong and he turns out a star you will not be allowed to gloat about him in 2 years time like you actually suggested him and got him signed up. if you think we got it right and he turns out a dud you are not allowed to whinge down the track "but we could have ......" . Choose carefully. -
Yes they are- for Christ sakes stop sending me application forms -I DON'T WANT YOUR FREAKIN CREDIT CARD
-
I sometimes feel that things can't possibly be any worse for the club but then I read Bluey's posts and realise that apparently I'm wrong.
-
I'm with you - no idea if he can play but damn gotta love anyone called Maverick Weller
-
Didnt know that existed! There will be one more furry Melbourne member next year ! Edit - its gone up to $35 and you get a pillow for the pooch to lie on. Harvey Wayne Hershel is now paid up !

To those who were saying that BL wasnt the most talented as a footballer- I recall very differently and I think representing the big V 6 times speaks volumes. Slow as a wet cement but he more than compensated by being strong of body and very quick of mind. Rarely got beaten and was very creative.

Its about holding firm. I have two girls and one wasnt interested in footy from an early age but the older one was (and is). At age 11 she decided she couldnt take the losing and wanted to barrack for Carlton. Using gentle parenting techniques I told her that I will never take her to the football again and her name on the MCC waiting list would be scratched off because I wouldnt pay MCC dues for a non dees supporter. Harsh but effective. I can now confirm that the highlight of my week is sitting with my now 22 year old daughter being miserable together watching the Dees play. Edit- without getting too mushy -for those parents out there with kids who come with you to the footy with you and barrack for the same team, especially when they get older and start doing their own thing - it really is one of life's joys to put your arm over their shoulder at 4:30pm on a Saturday after a win and belt out the club song together after winning.

Probably a poor choice of words and not what supporters want to hear
-
Who would of thought - making it about the footballers at your disposal.

Miranda signed a 3 year contract with me last year- I will trade her for a pick in the U17 mini draft (if you promise not to tell the police) and Rebecca Gibney (the older mans sex goddess)

Rest easy - it aint gonna happen.

I want MFC fantasy shows because reality is giving me ulcers.

I will not be satisfied with this thread until we have heard from Bluey.

Herald Sun reports Gysberts to be shown the door...Neeld has gone mad!!!

Talk to old Hawthorn players about Alan Jeans - they played like men possessed so they wouldn't ever have to hearJeans speak about anything. Brilliant coach who had the utmost respect from his players but was no orator. There is more to coaching than being an inspirational speaker. -
Can we get Greg Parke to the MFC as our kicking coach ...ohh wait......
-
Cameron Ling was the third of fourth best midfielder at Geelong Carrazo at Carlton is way behind Judd and Murphy. Both very valuable-both play roles and I very much see Jordie like these.
-
ughhhh -free agent
-
I think it is hysterical that apart from a handful of players everyone here is summing up most players on the list as to whether they should stay or go. Pretty much sums up what sort of year we have had.
