  1. Noah went alright as well. Exceptional in the wet and was lethal inside the 50m arc.
  2. I read this and I am surprised you didn't hear my jaw clunk as it hit the desk. I am stated "anti capital punishment" but I can respectfully listen to arguments to the contrary and whilst not agreeing, understand views to the opposite when we are talking about crazed and inhuman killers. But this ??? I also try to draw a distinction between moderate and peace loving muslims and radicals murdering in the name of their Islam. I wish it was black and white but when you read news like you have posted DC, it is very hard to see where exactly the line between the two is.
  3. Saty ? You are questioning my veracity ? Don't make me track you down and show you my ar$e.
  4. The difference for me with a Dangerfield, is he in that rare category of being a game changer. We desperately need a game changer ( actually a few of them) .
  5. I lost my mind at 50 and got a dancing snoopy tattooed on my ar$e - is that the same thing ?
  6. The risk of a non FA is that the opposition club could play hardball and not deal. Rarely happens but the risk is there that Adelaide can say to Sloane - re-sign with us or take pot luck in the draft and go to the bottom placed team.
  7. First things first. Let's uncover one. ( for the record - I am more confident than I have ever been that we may have one on the list. Firstly because I see players that I believe have a lot of talent but more importantly, for the first time in a long time I believe we have the personnel in place to help bring out and maximise the talents these boys have)
  8. I love this time of the year - everyone is so upbeat and the players themselves really looking like they are enjoying themselves. It is my fervent wish for 2015 that this "feeling" keeps going all the way to September.
  9. Unfortunately its a fly in and fly out thing - arriving at noon and out on Saturday morning first thing. I am trying to sneak out and back before my girlfriend even realises I am gone !
  10. Hardtack - coming up your way tomorrow for the triple J 40th anniversary concert. Great line up - should be a ripper.
  11. I'm tipping a bit of both.
  12. Ill be a little more brutal. For us to jump up the ladder the five most important players are not the ones that shone last season. My expectation is the likes of Jones, Tyson, Vince, Dunn will do the same again this season. I even include Jetta in this as his performance in games played was very good. I also include Lamumba in this list as he had a fine season with the Pies last season. We need the players that started to show a bit without starring to step up to the next level. Gartlett - was poor last season for Carlton but showed previously he can play - we need someone who can crumb and kick goals and he has a track record Howe - I know some believe he is a one trick pony but I think he has the tools to take his game to the next level McDonald - Shoot me but he does have some brain fades/disposal and decision issues at time - I want him to limit these and become an excellent key defender Gawn - So far his body has let him down and because he has not a fair run without injury he also has looked like he runs out of puff pretty quickly. But he has also shown he can take a grab, tap a ball and is no slouch at ground level for a man 2,975 cm's tall. Hogan - going against everything I have ever posted about not having expectations on players who are young and haven't played yet, what I have seen at VFL level I just feel he will "arrive" very quickly like Jeremy Cameron. I'll add one more - Viney - he has all the hunger to succeed but just hasn't put the runs on the board yet. I think he can make big steps forward this season. If we get similar output from the first group mentioned this upcoming season as we did in 2014 and my list of 6 make significant contributions we will move up the ladder.
  13. Voldemort used the cruciatus curse a little too much for my liking and whilst Lilly and James Potter were fair game, trying to take out a first gamer in Harry was just beyond the pale as far as I am concerned.
  14. To be fair to DL - this forum is probably less negative then the other club forums I have read ( in particular Punt Road End ) ...however..... This little gathering of head cases is a mere reflection of what goes on at all other club fan forums - with the "woes is us" at one end, the "we can never possibly be anything other than magnificent" at the other extreme and then varying shades of posters in between. We have thoughtful, insightful posters vs the reactors who fly off from viewing a split second of football and finally we have the polite " he could do better" against the "he's a giant spit bucket of spud vomit and should never disgrace our jumper again". The common thread is that anyone who has time to read a football forum like this let alone post is a sad football tragic. ( I am as tragic as they come)
  15. or conversely, no one would believe it.
  16. drop the C bomb and you'll get one !
  17. As I was there and it was all unfolding I sat with my French hosts from a B&B I was at and they pulled out some back issues of Charlie Hebdo. (And translated as my French is appalling) The references to Islam were NOT few and far between but hardly surprising as the prior to the publicised attack there had been three drive down attacks in French cities and radical Islam is a hot topic. But as pointed out nothing was off limits and ridulculing government and politicians was always prevalent. What was clear to me is that the magazine could never get published in Australia. our laws would not permit it. It makes you realise what a highly emotive subject "free speech" is and the biggest question - where do you draw the line? I am torn between not having a problem with any material published or speeches made that will offend me and worrying about the publishing or speaking of highly provocative material that may lead to discrimination and/or violence. I have no problem with offence - I obviously have a problem with discrimination and violence. It is so subjective as to what is offence and what is offence that could normally be expected to lead to unwanted actions.
  18. In todays game Thatcher would have got 6 weeks for what she did to Willisee.
  19. Join me in Oakleigh - oupa !
  20. I equate critiquing players with reviewing a movie. Actors/Directors are paid to produce entertainment that we the public pay good money to see. We discuss, criticise and applaud individuals and a performance as a whole. Football is no different. For me it is all about being constructive. Calling players wimps, spuds and hacks to me is unnecessary and serves no purpose. To suggest that Jack Watts impose himself more physically at a contest or McKenzie/Terlich improve their disposal worded respectfully is something footballer should expect as they are being paid to perform and "put on a show". I do like balance in criticism and also prefer posters who criticise but also praise when praise is earned.
  21. Just came back from France and was there for the attack that unfolded last week. People I talked to were embarrassed and shamed at how their country would be perceived - the home of terrorists. My obvious response was sympathy for their plight but reassurance that this was not a French problem but a global problem.
  22. Joyeux noël mon Amis ( nutbean spending christmas in Paris)
  23. I have never been a romantic when it comes to getting a brother to our club - tom flower, Glenn Giles to name but two who had talented brothers but weren't much chop themselves. The febeys could both go okay and Anthony McDonald was a pass (Jnr's bro). Haven't seen enough of Zak to comment but if he has the jones willingness to get the absolute best out of himself and has a touch of talent to boot he would be a great acquisition.
