Whilst you are right in saying that the all athletes come under the Australian Olympic Team Banner I think common sense would prevail and there would be recognition that the Olympic Team is a completely different structure than a football club. The Olympic team is like an umbrella company with many independent self run companies under it. A football club is a completely different kettle of fish ( rotten stinky fish).

That should read "Port player for the life of the contract (unless there is the Boyd get out of contract clause )"

This gave me a laugh - especially the last line. From Titus O'Reilly Essendon Football Club: Casual vacancies available The Essendon Football Club currently has approximately 20 vacancies for the position of ‘AFL footballer’. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who has ever dreamed of playing at the highest-level but couldn’t because they were terrible at football. The ideal candidate must be somewhat in shape and have the necessary skills to match it with St Kilda, GWS and Melbourne (not a huge ask). This once in a lifetime opportunity will see you play on the hallowed turf of Etihad Stadium, Spotless Stadium and Morwell Recreational Reserve. Prior experience in the VFL, WAFL, SANFL or Auskick will be looked upon favourably. Uniforms, meals and legal fees will be provided but the successful candidates must provide their own boots. A willingness to work with James Hird is a must. Please, no ASADA employees or Cale Mortons

I agree on the whack job that is Angelina Jolie but when you look at some members of many think tanks you shake your head. Doesn't mean I don't agree with the premise of the article.(To show my bipartisanship, I am not sure that Rudd mark 2 would have fared any better). Look at this mornings effort of Abbott and Brandis on the report released by the Human Rights Commission. They are not slamming the actual contents of the report - they are slamming the committee for what they consider a Partisan approach because they didn't slam the previous Labor Government as well. That well may be true, although Gillian Trigg is saying that the report covers both this and the previous Government - but is the issue who is worse or is the issue that human rights abuse shouldn't be allowed to happen under ANY Government. Abbott is a first class dick and I don't need any report to tell me that.

Makes sense but is completely wrong. The reason Toumpas was taken is he was rated by all the experts as a higher rated player than Wines - that simple. Even young Viney is on record prior to the draft when asked who he would take without hesitation said Toumpas. There has been numerous debates around whether picking the "higher rated" is the way to go. Toumpas may or may not turn out to be good as Wines. As is stands today and now - this is one more example of a lower rated player shining brighter than his more highly fancied draft picks.

I thought it was a pretty good concert. I must clarify my thoughts on Sting. I loved the early Police - saw their first Australian tour at festival hall and they blew the roof off. His body of work is impressive. I am also politically active but I don't like muso's spending 50% of their concert preaching . Well..not 100% correct - Peter Garrett for some reason didn't seem to upset me. Sting on the other hand- I wanted to lock him in a room with Bono so they could bore the socks off each other. For the record- I love U2 as well - just don't want Bono to stop singing and start talking. Sting was great on Tuesday - all about his music - not a political comment for the whole night. Paul Simon was good too. He never had a fabulous voice and it hasn't improved. I behaved myself and wasn't turfed out.

I am reading between the lines. I would suspect it is not so much the learning of the game plan as practicing it properly and consistently until it is second nature. The comment that keeps resonating with me is the professionalism of the training that was obviously absent pre Roos. So in training simulations you get the ball and have a maximum of 2 seconds to dispose of it. When your teammate upfield gets the ball you have a split second to decide where to run. In that split second you also have to factor in where your teammate is going to deliver it and where your other teammates are running. So learning the gameplan to me is more about constant repetition until you instinctively take the right option by running to the right places and disposing to the right options. It is so pleasing for me to hear the coaches bailing up ( pardon the pun) the players when they don't take correct options or run to the right places. I absolutely buy that they are "learning" - I read "learning" as drilling in the same ways over and over again. -

whichever way you look it - it's not close to Melbourne ( before the baying for blood starts - tongue is firmly in cheek) -
My info looks wrong on him. Shows you the fickleness of the business.

Ahhh !!! Geez it's like mind reading - was at the South Melbourne Market two weeks and who was busking out the front ?? Ross Hannaford. I did ask about him and apparently he busks because he wants to , not because he needs to. Edit - I obviously didn't ask Ross himself

One of my highlights was seeing the Divinyls at the Palace (next to the Palais). I was mashed up the front watching Chrissie perform - for a youngish boy there was something very naughty, dirty but definitely yummy about her.

I worship the ground Paul Kelly walks on... During one of his intimate gigs he talked about always knowing he could write but didn't like performing live as he always felt way too awkward to perform. He said he then saw the Sports live and from that time on he was fine. He said "if Stephen Cummings had no qualms about how he looked performing live then I shouldn't worry either as I dont look half as awkward !" Footnote - Paul Kelly should video tape himself dancing when he gets a bit excited on stage. I beg to differ that he doesn't look more awkward than Cummings.

Saw Paramore at soundwave - Hayley Williams goes off - she really rocks.
-
And Russell Morris.... I have seen him live many times - at first it was for the nostalgia but of recent - his last two albums - Shark Mouth and Van Diemans land are wonderful - fantastic story telling to music. The last two times i have seen him - wouldn't care if he didn't play any old stuff at all.

Sunnyboys ! What a wonderful feel good story that is. One of the great pub bands. Jeremy Oxley ( the lead singer ) suffered from mental health issues and after great success they dropped out of sight. A very loyal fan kept in contact with him and they actually got together ( and to my understanding are still together). She helped him on his road to recovery to the extent that they played a gig at a DOTG about two years ago. They were great but you could tell that Jeremy was still a bit shaky. I saw them again at the forum last year and the improvement was amazing - he was vibrant and jumping around the stage and the gig was great. I am seeing the again at the Forum in the coming weeks.

To me Garland has more brain fades than Grimes. Grimes turns it over more than Garland. It is just my observation but Garland gets burned more often on the lead more than Grimes
-
fair enough - I think most of us agree it is not talent and drive to succeed that is going to keep him off the park. To me it is purely and simply if he can his body back to 2011 levels. He was more than handy in his second year.
-
I agree you ...(I'll meet you half way - in the past it has been a combination of both - confidence and workrate.) I will add to your above " I won't pull the trigger and kick it to my team mate who is a metre clear in case I fluff the kick". I have seen way too many good leads not honoured. Hawks pull the trigger first time every time.

Being picky ? It is called football. I am backing him to get back to training and playing..but to what standard. From my understanding of this type of injury , the jury is out for me on whether his foot will ever allow him to get to the necessary fitness ( or hold up under game conditions) to play 100 minutes of AFL footy. The picture of his withered calf muscle shows me he will spend the best part of this year getting to any sort of condition to play at Casey ( let alone Melbourne). As I said above - I will back him in to get back to full training and testing himself at Casey. I am uncertain whether he can come back to being an integral member of the team playing good footy week in and week out like he was showing he could in 2011. I love his passion and determination so I am hoping the best for him.
