  1. We are violent agreement about Jones and his value to the club. I think you have missed the point is that are already some here who are downplaying the importance of jones to our club? some questioning his leadership qualities. the dig is at them not a comparison with Frawley . my only caution is I would not be quite as blaise to suggest that he will sign and there is nothing more. I have more confidence than I have ever had of a successful negotiation because we have smart operators at the helm. But we would not want to be acres away from outside offers and what we offer but I don't believe that will be the case. Edit...I will let machsy speak for himself but I am awake and I interpreted his post to be picking holes at posters who are already going into the self defense mode of " he is gone and he ain't that good anyway". maybe the reaction to Frawley is being compared and you can draw the distinctions but the bottom line is that the minute a player refuses to re-sign according to the Demonland timetable he is gone, he is not that good et ctc. Frawley, hogan, watts and some posters have started to diminish jones.
  2. Who even mentioned Frawley ?And won't be going anywhere no matter his contractual status ? Really ? Two contracts ago he was closing to walking out to essendon because we low balled him. the negotiations were prolonged and we forked out more in the end it keep. please don't call me ridiculous and then follow it up with that sort of wisdom.
  3. I can go one better... I got the Ron Barassi returns to the Dees signature collection port 1981.
  4. bowels at the ready and microwave on high....
  5. you are 100% right 50% of the time.
  6. I think a few punters got confused last year in differentiating between "have we improved" and "is the football we are playing good enough". To answer the unnecessary - the improvement was more than obvious but we have a long way to go.
  7. I remember reading an article in Ram or Juke or one of those papers when Blondie first came to Australia, When asked what her favorite things about Australia was she replied " you guys have really good smack here"
  8. I like the timeframe you are putting on the smashing - and I like your commitment that you will even take your grumpiness into the afterlife !!!
  9. This I agree with 100%. The mantra of not gifting games in 2014 was all well and good but the problem is that we didn't have too many players banging the door down at Casey to replace players who were playing just ok in the seniors. We desperately need MFC listed Casey footballers to step up so we can really live the mantra of no gifted games.
  10. Agreed he was poor forward this season but doesn't it follow that if he proved to be the same "liability" back then he would have gone to Casey ?
  11. I think Howe has a lot of improvement in him that either will or won't come to light. But spot on in the difference between he and Terlich. (actually I think Terlich's decision making on when to stay with his man, when to attack the contest solo or peel off is very good - but when he gets the pill in his hands - uggh.)
  12. why ? ( that is a rhetorical why)
  13. Not sure I agree with the logic. B&F's will always favor players that play in all 22 games but you still have to play well enough in any game you play to register a vote. I also don't agree with the distinction you have made between a finals team and us - if you are the 6th best player in your team then you are the 6th best player in the team. The biggest pointer IMO to the coaching panels thinking is their refusal to move Howe forward last year when a few games were in the balance. They threw Dunn forward a few times and Pedersen went back and forward but they stuck with Howe back when I would have pinch hit with in the forward line in the last quarter of a few games. edit - i researched the B&F system and each player gets a score between 1-10 by a panel of 4 so indeed it does favor players who play in the most games - if you average out the scores based on games played the only real difference is Cross would have come 2nd in the voting and Nev Jetta would have shot into 5th place. So Howe would have moved down one place.
  14. succinct and accurate !
  15. Ok... I just snorted coffee out of my nose onto my desk... very funny. I am going to plagiarise this for work - love it !
  16. Because it will seriously do your head in ..... Fickle is now my middle name - I love all the players passionately. One of the players decides he likes another club better..whooshka...I don't love them anymore. It's that easy..
  17. He would be a very silly man not to try and get the very best deal for himself but I won't confuse that with trying to get the very best deal with ANY club. ( well at least for moment)
  18. I am quite excited by Hogan and these reports. I kept thinking about having a monster forward but with his running ability - A monster with Nick Reiwoldt athleticism ? Lordy....
  19. I agree that no one player in our side is irreplaceable but the above ? really ? When our club has been at it's lowest depth Jones has busted a gut week in and week out - I was skeptical about Jones leadership qualities but if you think his on field leadership is average ,well I am just not sure what you expect.
  20. Has anyone here discovered the Caravan Music Club in Oakleigh. What a gem that place is ! I spend half my life there. Went and saw a Jazz night there last Wednesday - Harry Angus ( Cat Empire ) and Darcy McNulty (Clairy Browne and the Bangin Racquettes) plus Loretta Miller on vocals - a great night - they seriously didn't want to stop playing... And now a rant. I quite like Sia - a great voice and a great talent. I respect that she doesn't want to be recognisably famous - she doesn't tour which is ok but then she goes on the Graham Norton Show and sings with her back to the audience. If you don't want to be seen then fine but don't go on a show and disrespect the audience you [censored] jockey.
  21. Why wouldn't it be ? No members, no club.
  22. You know I can't let that go ! You seriously don't understand the whole wanting to play finals and a premiership ? I get that it would be the sweetest feeling reaching the ultimate with teammates you have struggled with for many years. But I would suggest that if you gave a player a clear choice of being a one club player with no premiership or moving clubs to play in with a team with a realistic chance of snaring the big one then it would be a no brainer. Having said, I get rivers leaving. He had 3 seasons or so left staring at the possibility of never playing finals again let alone a premiership. Frawley on the other hand is relatively young and whilst he has gone to a club with definite finals claims and rightful premiership favouritism, he also left at a time where he could see positive improvement at our club and has chosen instant gratification over the choice of working hard to be part of something special.
  23. Irony overload.... Supporters are shortsighted when it comes to losing players they've formed emotional attachments to. And then We've been able to land two highly talented midfielders who both possess more self-drive, motivation and work ethic than Frawley ever displayed. Good thing you haven't let emotion override reasoned thought. Frawley is gone..well and good. We got a high draft pick for him great. Many of the criticisms of him are well founded....but the above ???? Please.....
  24. so then... you are being critical ? (sorry H_H but any statement that begins with "not to be critical" ranks with those other wonderful sentence openers I don't want be to rude, don't take this the wrong way, with all due respect and my favourite, I don't want to sound racist/sexist/creepy/deranged however....)
  25. Thats' because they never went on end of season footy trips
