To me Tyson will prove to bit of a barometer. The day that he is in form but can’t get a game with us will be the day we are a proper side with a proper midfield.

Just quietly I don’t think Jordan Lewis’s game has received the attention it deserves. I haven’t been his biggest fan since he arrived here and thought he hadn’t shown much of those elite kicking skills he was renowned for at the Hawks. Having said that he was bloody good yesterday Disposal efficiency stats don’t show the whole story but 23 possessions at 91% is a true reflection of his day. He was almost flawless with ball in hand. Also that fist from behind that resulted in a goal for us showed his desperation even well into the last quarter when the game was already won. His best game in the red and blue.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 7
FarNorthernD replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is this the first time McCartin and Petracca have played against each other? From the same draft year Lever and OMc should find themselves on Paddy during the match PS. Just found this 2014 HS article saying St Kilda would take Petracca. Thank god they didn’t http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/teams/st-kilda/christian-petracca-set-to-join-st-kilda-with-no1-draft-pick/news-story/c481c0de624fae589da45dc449a9219c -
Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 7

And apparently as well as playing for both clubs twice Carl also Captained both clubs and won each clubs B & F. There actually should be some sort of official recognition for this. That is one hell of a record. -
THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
FarNorthernD replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
Yep it is amazing. Last night on 360 Robbo went through Bombers’ tale of woe he almost implied Bomber had no choice but to end up where he is now. At one stage neither Robbo or Whately said anything at all and I thought they were having an impromptu minutes silence. If the guy is guilty I hope they lock him up. -
Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 7

If anyone is looking for a definition of "a very Melbourne thing to do" I think we have a contender. -
Left behind again - ground upgrades
FarNorthernD replied to Leoncelli_36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Crikeys Jim. The Melbourne Football Club not based at the MCG is not the Melbourne Football Club. Other teams grew from their suburbs or cities, we are born from our ground. Like many here I am the most rusted on of member but I probably wouldn’t support the Club if based elsewhere. I believe the Club would quickly cease to exist. -
Even after just one game it’s not hard picture Charlie Spargo in there with Viney in the future..

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
FarNorthernD replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just watched the replay and saw Spargo having a go at Goddard again in the context of the match. Whatever you think of Goddard he is a 300 gamer, former captain of his club and dual All Australian player. For Spargo, the smallest bloke on the field but, more importantly, a first gamer to push Jones aside so he could get a better purchase on Goddard I found extraordinary. The kid has chutzpah. It made me laugh.. -
I don’t seem to be able to copy it across but in the game day thread Deestroy All said ”If your life depended on Dom Tyson hitting a target how would you kill yourself?" In a sea of silky left footers we traded for the exception to the rule.

Daniher under the Pump; Will Destroy Us
FarNorthernD replied to pewpewpew's topic in Melbourne Demons
Prescient. -
That’s true but then Goodwin has a side with enough talent that 99% of us believed would make finals this year. Neeld had a side of VFL players

Very, very good story. In the heat of the game it is easy to view the person out on the field merely by their missed kicks and spilled marks. It is great to hear about ANB’s work with kids with disabilities and also to learn of his Grandmothers history and her obvious pride in him. The Elvis nickname is a corker too. More articles like these.

By the end of the year we should have a good idea. By memory the two first rounders with swap backs equaled to us paying about a pick 4 to 5 in points assuming we made the bottom of the eight this year. Every ladder spot we finish up above that decreases what we paid for Lever. Conversely a bottom part of the ladder finish increases the ultimate cost......

Stringer really is bit of a Wally isn’t he

Alex Neal-Bullen - AFL top 10 in distance covered in game
FarNorthernD replied to Romey's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was saying to a mate tonight that ANB is an almost player - he almost takes the mark, almost almost handles the ball cleanly and almost nails a pass. And then ANB did the bizarre out on the full in our forward line with the outside of his boot and my mate said that he almost kicked the correct side of the ball. Can’t fault his endeavour but just another player that has gone backwards this year and needs to find form at Casey. -
I’m amazed you’re amazed. It’s been happening since 2006(?)

Richmond VFL v Casey Demons - Round 3
FarNorthernD replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
That stat explains the score line. Our injury list has probably been what a normal AFL club would expect while the Tigers continue to enjoy a blessed run. Think Hardwick may have sold his soul early last season to the injury gods. -
And at some stage during that meeting Oscar’s manager will say "so Lever’s on $800,000”.....
-
If Goodwin had any murmuring doubts about his own coaching ability post the Rnd 23 Collingwood game then they would be positively yelling at him now. Two appalling losses in the past 5 games. Two much talent on this list for him not to make finals
-
Play nice Luci, Collingwood hasn’t made finals in donkeys so Anzac Day is their Grand Final
-
Top of the tall forward tree.

Congrats too him as he plays his 50th on the weekend too. I’m guessing his win/loss ratio (19/30) will considerably improve over the next 50 games and include a number of finals appearances. Happy days to be a young Melbourne footballer..
