Ha! Actually, he got too close last week while having one of those set shots in the second half and didn't make the distance. The irritating thing - the very, very, very irritating thing - is that you can see it coming a million miles away..

On both occasions, he's quoted club officials in his stories, Josh Mahoney on this occasion. Why pretend that he's making it up?

Good to see Byrnes back in - he's our best exponent of the kick into the man on the mark.

I wouldn't overstate Demonland's importance in all this; you don't need to be Einstein to work out that the rehab hasn't gone as planned. It's been 8 weeks since they said 3-4 weeks and he's no closer to returning to training. Sounds like they're meeting next week to work out Plan B.

The article on the website says "defender Mitch Clark" has been named as an emergency. Ummmm...

Thanks for the info Bazza, even if it doesn't really change the treatment plan or recovery timetable. I've set my expectations to WPO - Worst Possible Outcome: Hogan will remain 4-5 until about mid-season, when the club will announce that he won't play at all this year and are now aiming to have him ready for the start of pre-seaosn 2015.

For the first time in a long time, we're starting to control the tempo of the game. Did it virtually all match last week and for the second half today. Still lack the polish, the confidence and some players (injuries and list improvements) to capitalise on it, but it's 150 per cent better than the footy we served up last year.

Howe could do with a lesson or two in the very basics of the game, such as putting your hands up when you're on the mark or in a position to smother. Watched Nick Reiwoldt last night; every time he was on the mark he was jumping up and down and waving his arms around like a madman, something he was no doubt taught in the Under 10's, like everyone else who plays football. I hate seeing players not do the little things.

I was there in the thread when he threw an obvious round-arm strike to the head of an opponent in the days leading up to Round 1. I knew it was only a matter of time before the MRP would review the incident and give him a spell on the sidelines.
