Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 6
Grapeviney replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ha! Actually, he got too close last week while having one of those set shots in the second half and didn't make the distance. The irritating thing - the very, very, very irritating thing - is that you can see it coming a million miles away.. -
On both occasions, he's quoted club officials in his stories, Josh Mahoney on this occasion. Why pretend that he's making it up?

Good to see Byrnes back in - he's our best exponent of the kick into the man on the mark. -
I wouldn't overstate Demonland's importance in all this; you don't need to be Einstein to work out that the rehab hasn't gone as planned. It's been 8 weeks since they said 3-4 weeks and he's no closer to returning to training. Sounds like they're meeting next week to work out Plan B.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 6

The article on the website says "defender Mitch Clark" has been named as an emergency. Ummmm... -
Thanks for the info Bazza, even if it doesn't really change the treatment plan or recovery timetable. Strange how the only bit of verified and meaningful information in the thread slips by unnoticed among four pages of drivel, to which I have contributed. I daresay if you started a new thread with the title: "Hogan - cracked vertebrae" the place would go into meltdown.

I might be wrong here LDC but I thought they disappeared long before that and were revived for 'heritage' round sometime in the mid-1980's.

I've hated novelty jumpers ever since Robbie broke his finger on those bloody lace-up guernseys back in the 80's.

Pretty sure we haven't heard that before.. Source?

Jack Trengove out for year with navicular fracture
Grapeviney replied to Arrow's topic in Melbourne Demons
He's not working for the Washington Post - his job is to provide fluff for the website. -
No visit to Melbourne is complete without a night at the Gat jazza.. it's a 'cultural' thing You really should try to book a room, even if it's just for the hour.

Some interesting detail in there, but the argument is class-riddled nonsense.

Are we really going to let the premier-who-fell-on-his-sword-for-a-$3000-bottle-of-wine story just pass without comment? The haste with which he resigned suggests to me there's more to this story than meets the eye. Otherwise why wouldn't he dig in and ride it out? Pollies have hung on to their jobs for transgressions far worse than this one. I would have thought a simple "i accept I was wrong but still can't recall this particular gift, receive so many every day blah blah" would have been sufficient..

Why are people making out like he's just rediscovered the MFC? Garry's a regular at Melbourne games, unless he's working in the commentary box.

I've set my expectations to WPO - Worst Possible Outcome: Hogan will remain 4-5 until about mid-season, when the club will announce that he won't play at all this year and are now aiming to have him ready for the start of pre-seaosn 2015.

For the first time in a long time, we're starting to control the tempo of the game. Did it virtually all match last week and for the second half today. Still lack the polish, the confidence and some players (injuries and list improvements) to capitalise on it, but it's 150 per cent better than the footy we served up last year.

Howe could do with a lesson or two in the very basics of the game, such as putting your hands up when you're on the mark or in a position to smother. Watched Nick Reiwoldt last night; every time he was on the mark he was jumping up and down and waving his arms around like a madman, something he was no doubt taught in the Under 10's, like everyone else who plays football. I hate seeing players not do the little things.

I'm glad someone else noticed this... I was tearing my hair out @#$$%^&*^%$%#%$##$%@

With apologies to all my Carlton friends

What, that we might lose again? Geez, how about enjoying the win?! -
I was there in the thread when he threw an obvious round-arm strike to the head of an opponent in the days leading up to Round 1. I knew it was only a matter of time before the MRP would review the incident and give him a spell on the sidelines.
