  1. I know aside ... the Melbourne side, and they're getting better each week. God Bless
  2. Doesn't sound like he touched on with his Myki card.. If you or I tried the same you'd be assaulted - and then fined - by the those hired goons posing as ticket inspectors and then quite possibly handed over to the cops.
  3. You're right, but all men, even the old ones, occasionally succumb to their egos, and I haven't written off the possibility that PJ and PR might find the temptation to stay on too hard to resist if we're on the threshold of making history.
  4. Fittingly, there's a red pill and a blue pill..
  5. <insert joke about the players 'buying in'> Awesome job by the FH, every dollar counts.
  6. I reckon people are reading waaaaaayyyy too much into this. My take on it is that here is a young fit guy who has probably trained / worked out every day since he was a kid. Then came the injuries, and then the Black Dog, during which it can be extremely difficult just to get out of bed, let alone get to the gym and maintain your (physical) health. As others have noted, keeping active physically plays an important part in your mental health, and it would seem Mitch is now at that point, recovery-wise, where he feels he can start being active and healthy again. That doesn't mean he's training for football, or that football is even on his mind. He probably just wants to start feeling good again and is now in a position to work towards that. C + B: You knock others for making definitive statements yet you're adamant he's thrown his life away and will regret his decision forever and day. The truth is that unless you know Mitch personally, or have discussed it with him, you're guessing just like the rest of us...
  7. All voters - disengaged or not - listen to their hip pockets, not the commentariat. The average Joe isn't going to agree with Terry McCrann that it's a good budget if he's $700 worse off each year. Interesting that Labor are running TV ads branding Abbott a liar. I'm not sure to what effect - the carbon tax backflip is still pretty fresh and all this talk of broken promises might do nothing more than be a further pox on both their houses. It's far too early to be talking of re-election. Howard and Costello delivered a much harsher first Budget (and second IIRC), and took a GST to the '98 election and won another term. And one-term governments are rare - you really need to screw it up to be booted out after one term.
  8. Guys, what are you arguing for? It's a Dom Tyson thread - there's nothing to do here but laugh and sing and dance and rejoice in the goodness of it all. )
  9. As he gathered the Gawn tap-out and ran toward 50, I was thinking to myself "He can kick this.." It's been a long time since I thought that about a Melbourne mid, guys like Stretch and Dyson who could dob a long one on the run from outside-50.
  10. Todd was named Vice Captain in his second year at the club, after just 13 games, which shows just how highly regarded he was after crossing over from SA. For whatever reason, he was replaced by Danny Hughes in 1989. I was a big fan of Viney Snr but I've seen enough after 20 games to be confident that Jack will be the better player. His disposal is far better than Todd's, who wasn't really a great user of the footy until the twilight of his career.
  11. Especially if he has to then travel from Darwin to Alice Springs, which is where the match is being played
  12. I didn't know you worked at Essendon !
  13. Thanks Demon3 It's also replayed on regular Channel 7 at 11.18pm
  14. How can Salem sub if he's replaced by Kent?
  15. Out: Dawes (susp), Toumpas In: Frawley, Jetta
  16. Same article says that Viv Michie has yet to make his debut and Aidan Riley is going well at the Scorpions.
  17. Brad Green came up with this ripper a few years ago during Women's Round: "I think it's only a matter of time before a woman or someone with a woman's background gets a senior coaching job in the AFL."
  18. Richo: "He kicked it to the one-on-one rather than the fifty-fifty." Now that's playing the percentages..!
  19. We must have been at different games because his intensity and effort was right there from the get-go, and he never took the foot off the pedal after that.
  20. Yes, clunked a couple of good ones early and always looked threatening. A really good first game back.
  21. That's what I've been going with.. I thought we'd settled on that already?
  22. Having been 1.4 early in the 2nd quarter, we then booted 13.3 for the remainder of the game. Good stuff. And how well are we playing 'away' this year! Now just to get some home wins on the board too )
  23. You can run 10 metres, be stripped of the ball without disposing of it properly, and it's called play on, yet find yourself at the bottom of a pack without any chance to get it out and you might be pinged. Absurd. Spot on.
  24. Dawes and Pedersen with 8 tackles apiece, and pretty much every one of them was a bone-cruncher.
