  1. I thought he was washed up 4 years ago. An old fashioned VFA-type goal square full forward.Strong mark but overweight, couldnt/wouldnt chase and a real Richo-type winger ! A dinosaur.....the epitome of a non contemporary footballer !
  2. Ridiculously short all round. We are a genuine chance to sneak into the 8 but i rate us slightly worse than 50/50....say $2.25. The $1.65 on offer is a joke !
  3. I'm tipping a golf academy may beckon for the lads......strewth i'm no good thing to be ALIVE for the 2029 Draft !
  4. My time travel dream is seeing Michael Long showing concern for the twitching prostrate Snake Man rather than appealing to the umpire to reverse the "too high" decision. To complete the dream, a heartfelt apology a day or two later is offered !
  5. Most importantly, The Russian needs quality assistance so he can pace himself through the year. His career-best scintillating start petered out a bit in the second half of the season. Played "sore" from too-much....too-soon ?
  6. Hutchy's schtick is to be provocative........any suggestion that he is an expert on the actual GAME of football and the prospects of its participant teams is RIDICULOUS ! Chasing and spreading rumour and goss is his go !
  7. Thanks dc, I dont feel so bad now after missing last night's frivolities. I wouldnt have been so crass as to mention the "20111" error but understandable as the date IS 1-1-11 and we have seen plenty of bail-less stumps lately ( III )!
  8. Here's a bit of trivia......whilst confirming in my "COURAGE BOOK OF VFL FINALS" that Norm played in ALL of the three successive premierships '39,'40 41 and that they were ALL played at the MCG ( I knew the ground was commandeered during WW2 for defence purposes ) I was reminded that the 1944 GF was at the Junction Oval and the '42,'43 and '45 at Carlton. This latter ground , Optus (or whatever )within Princes Park is CORRECTLY described as " PRINCES OVAL "!
  9. Unlike the "Bearded Burbler" I have no issue with Warnie getting his MCG statue but what about the shocking anomaly of Norm Smith's omission. Ten flags at the ground...4 as a player....6 as coach, a legend even in his own lifetime. With the now proposed Avenue of Champions there is simply NO EXCUSE !
  10. There's a copy of "ROBBIE" on ebay for $10-
  11. Good viewing area but you may feel a bit lonely. When we play Port or Freo at the Gee you can actually COUNT the patrons there !
  12. I reckon as late as the 1970's " Dorothy Dix " was still answering letters on romantic topics in one of the prominent womens' magazines. The expression " Dorothy Dix-er " was used with scorn during Question Time in parliament when a minister was given a set-up,soft question from his/her own side. Nowdays, this is of course USUAL PRACTICE !
  13. Speaking of deflated cutomers...... in the news this week the revelation of the sus financial practices and dubious benefits of a company fLogging erectile disfunction treatments. Yes, THAT ONE !
  14. As Joe himself could have said : " Roses are reddish.....Violets are bluish......if it wasnt for Christmas.....we could all be Jewish "
  15. My thoughts as well. Got mine today and was expecting our new logo sticker to be at least normal size but it's not much bigger than a postage stamp ! I was even hoping for two..... one for the car and one for the glass panel above my front door !
  16. His name is John Rothfield whose brother Mark is a former committee man . As a very young man in the 1970's, he actually applied to coach the team ! If we are playing a rare Saturday game he always chooses his Demons ahead of his horses !
  17. At the time of his first knee rupture,The Ox was in magical touch....arguably THE in-form player.Only Kouta in the mid nineties was as dominant for a block of games. Was it 10 goals at the SCG ? I seem to remember he wasnt leaping to mark but FLOATING !
  18. We clearly should have won 3 more games........the 2 against the Pies of course and that monday night game against the Dogs when the Big Bad One was hopeless in the drizzle !
  19. We should all keep in mind that with only a couple of fan sites to trawl through, it is safe to assume that our time-rich professional footballers read these comments. Could it even have been a tipping point for one Cam Bruce to go elsewhere for LESS money !
  20. Braddles for me.....a true "Captain Courageous " and in a couple of years the man with the Robbie Flower touch ........Jack Grimes ! Love Aaron of course but can often become distracted by a heavy tag.
  21. Have only recently resumed posting (here) after dropping DEMONOLOGY some 8 years ago. I remember being irritated once too often by snobby, elitist regular posters. BLUEY and TRIDENT come to mind ! Are they still around ? Have they mellowed ?
  22. Fair enough, but you would think anything acrylic whether scarf or beanie should be dirt cheap to the club and the poncho i had in mind was the "bin-liner" $3- variety !
  23. Great stuff ! Is there any significance in no portrayal of a white shorts option with our traditional strip.
  24. I must have 4 or 5 dated scarves gathering dust at home. Is it now time to provide an undated one to the next batch of members and thereafter a single choice between say, a scarf, a beanie or perhaps a light waterproof poncho in club colours.
