Yeah losing to the Gold Coast was a silly one to lose, still GF or not (likely not), I just want us to come out having been competitive and with no injuries. Trenners will get a run, the others they may be a bit more cautious.

Thanks for the response RudeBoy, will be very happy when he's out on the field doing his thing!

JT, Tappy, and Jordie. Three guys i'm very happy to see getting pre-season game time.

Anyone have any knowlege on what the issues are back home? I certainly hope he doesn't end up following in Aussie's footsteps. Come back revitalised LJ!

I'm just re-watching the game the game now and there were a few things from Watts that I was very pleased with. For one thing he should've had two goal assists with Green and Petterd missing very getable opportunities that were created by clever play from him. Secondly he made an effort to shepard on a number of occasions, and in the mark that Petterd took to kick a goal in the 3rd term Watts made sure to keep Kieth out of the contest to allow Petterds run at it. Now I'm not saying he was hugely influential but there are bits to his game that I'm pleased with that aren't put down in the stats. He has a long way to go, but when (and I have to doubt it will happen) it all comes together we will have one of the most dominant players in the competition,

Happy with the pressure, we should be ahead so that simple fact has me happy as well. Surprised Howe and Bail subbed off but barring injury I reckon it would've been pre-destined. So I don't think it's a tactical move. Kick straight dees!

Agreed, it sounded like he had an excellent intraclub match was hoping to see him rebound from his suspension.

I swear I thought I heard an interview with a local at that ground that said the bombers trained on it earlier this week. Why wouldn't they just stay there and do a training camp or something?

My plans for the night fell through so I've decided to go at the last minute, god I hope I'm not regretting this decision in a couple of hours! I also reckon its BS that we have to pay these prices to go to a glorified practice match, in previous years they've made it cheaper (say $10-15) for adult entrance. If they made it cheaper with a membership it might also increase early resigning. But I guess I'm going so i'm just putting more money in the AFL's coffers.

This is bull! He litterally picked up where he left off in GC, and now this?! Hoping and praying it's nothing serious, we just don't seem to have any luck come our way when we finally get a gun!

http://www.afl.com.au/nabcup/tabid/74/default.aspx I know it's only NAB cup, but you gotta love seeing those two down there!

Interesting, certainly in the past it's always been the positives put in there with practically no negatives except for little bits on form or injury. Don't know if I like it, but I'm not against it.

I 'spose Frawley doesn't know what to say?
Pates replied to stevethemanjordan's topic in Melbourne Demons
He was always behind the 8 ball with Danny Frawley as an uncle for being able to speak intelligently, happy the footy genetics got passed down as well though! -
If you are with Telstra it will be fully unmetered, however if you are with another mob, say vodafone, you must be careful that the amount that you are downloading from the game won't take you over your cap. In this sense while the $50 is pretty good value from telstra, the actual you incur from it may be larger. Personally I am with Telstra, so I reckon I'll definitely be looking into this product.

What a nothing article, well done Herald Sun on once again lowering the standards of journalism.

I have a question about the foxtel mobile iPhone app, will the fox footy channel be available on this application and if so what package will it be under? If not, bugger!

I really hope Moloney, Green, and Davey take this not as a setback but as a new challenge, they might feel they have something to prove and hopefully it'll drive them to perform. Flash was always going to be dropped out of the group, however someone earlier in the thread asked why he was in in the first place, my guess would be that at the time (and I'm sure still currently) he was a real leader to the indigenous players at our club, playing a very similar role to what Wrecker used to do. Unfortunately it didn't translate out onto the field but that doesn't mean he wasn't/isn't a bad mentor to those playes. Beamer I really see as a guy that doesn't need a title to lead, it is still curious as to why he doesn't have the title but don't think it'll change or hurt the way he plays. Green I reckon will be freed up by not having to worry about his actions as captain, his best football is behind him but I reckon he'll be ok. Some of the selections are very interesting, the Clark one is probably the most intriguing. Something that is worth noting is the fact that they have both into the club fresh, so when Neeled was saying that it was a clean slate he meant it, as far as he was concerned Clark was on the exact same footing as say Beamer. It will be a very interesting leadership group to watch this year.

Leadership group announced; Grimes and Trengove co-captains
Pates replied to Striker475's topic in Melbourne Demons
For what reason? I thought Riv was getting back to some of his best form last year, albeit his disposal was average sometimes but other than that I though he took some telling defensive marks. -

Wow! Congrats to both of them, well deserved and I reckon they'll do a great job. Definitely future planning here, the Jack generation is hopefully that's going to get our club back up there, all the best to them. Interesting to see that Beamer didn't even make the group, I have to wonder if provisions were put in place for choosing the leadership group, ie age no older than...... -

I would've thought they'd announce all that in one go rather than stagger it over two pressers. -
Jim Stynes to step down as Melbourne president at tonight's AGM...
Pates replied to stuie's topic in Melbourne Demons
You've done what you can for the club, now it's up to the rest of us. Thank you for everything you have done, take care and enjoy your time with your family. -
What is the ruling on trading picks after activation? If we trade them onto other clubs do they have to be used by those clubs that year? I've said activate both but it might be work holding onto one for trade if they can't be used after this draft after being activated.

I was really shocked when the club gave him a two year deal to tie us to him until the end of 2013, I felt he hadn't earned it and it was a massive leap of faith on our part. I'm hopeful that he can make good on our faith but not overly optomistic, happy to be proved wrong but it really is down to him. No one can ever deny there's talent there, but so too with the other Mortons and they have all fallen on the scrap heap as well. This must be a do or die year, if he doesn't make it then I think we should look for a trade.

Success is definitely where we will need to build our supporter base from, I also agree that Casey will eventually give us additional support but again that will come with success and hopefully the local council and community will pump their affiliation with us when that happens. Unfortunately we're still not cool enough to follow. Btw I'd follow us on twitter, but I don't have an account nor do I want one!
