  1. I don't know how it would work and what quality it would be but you could potentially download the iphone version of the app onto your ipad and that might go (closer) to full screen. But you may also lose quality. That's a disgrace of a deal and they should be upfront about what you'll get, if you were wanting to cancel and get your money back I'd threaten to take it to the ACC because I think it's fair that unless they make it clear in the product you won't able to watch it full screen on the tablet, it would be fair to assume you could.
  2. Last time I checked a tablet isn't a TV, that's complete bulls*** that it won't let you go full size.
  3. It's when you start looking at what other countries with their sport that you realise just how far behind Australia is when it comes to utilising the internet for sport. The prices vs the quality, it makes you wonder why you should even bother.
  4. I think unless Jeffy has an incredibly poor JLT lead up, I'd expect him in the line up to start with. Still it's really good to hear JKH put in a solid pre-season, will be interesting to see where he lines up in JLT.
  5. 40,000 is the first step. We have to get that figure to remain competitive in this area. Give how close we were in 2016 we should get it but our hype needs to translate into wins early. I wonder how much the coaching staff care about the pre-season matches. At the Swans Roosy couldn't have cared less, he seemed to be more into it with us because it gave the players confidence going into the season. Will be interesting to see Goody's approach.

  7. JKH came onto the scene with a bit of a blitz but in some ways I think that counted against him as that became his benchmark. He's had a bit of bad luck with injuries and in particular it's hampered him with getting consistency, but a clear run at it this year and I think he will be in with a real shot of being a regular in the team. Particularly if Garlett continues his disappointing form from the end of last year. He's not hugely quick, but he's slippery. Big year for him either way.
  8. I don't mind our womens team playing a couple of games there, maybe even 50/50, but I think we also need to make sure we maintain the image of the team of Melbourne. It's kinda hard to justify that when the team plays so far from the city. It also makes sense to be able to provide a location that is more accessible to fans. At least one of our womens players comes from well past Geelong, Colac I believe, that is a long drive to the city let alone adding on Casey to that.
  9. I have to admit going into this year I saw Jones as captain, with Jack being VC and I would've been very happy with that. That they're co-captains doesn't really faze me but that Jones was surprised by it doesn't sit particularly well with me. I feel like it should have been a consultation with him in advance to get him thinking about the possibility of it and then they make the decision. He's been such a great servant for us I just feel it was a little disrespectful to him. That said you couldn't pick two guys who are more passionate about the success of the club and I'm sure they will work very well together as co-captains. Jack has already proven himself to be a very important player for us going into the future and I doubt anyone is surprised he will be captaining the club. I see it very much as a succession plan to have Jack as sole captain by about 2019, I only wonder whether it was necessary to actually have him as a co-captain. None the less, congratulations to Jack. I can't wait to see him smash more players into the ground with his tackling.
  10. I would imagine it's a similar capacity as Casey. Maybe less space but better equiped with stands. I have a feeling a Tigers intraclub attracted almost 12,000 a couple of years ago.
  11. We do that, we make finals. I know that seems a pretty outlandish statement but the confidence gain by dispelling the hold they have over us and at Etihad no less it will give us huge momentum for the early rounds which are so important. It would be a bit ironic if we did finally beat them now when we we're actually more on level pegging with them than we have been for a long time. As for any hype around the Saints I would say it would be as justified as any hype around us. Both are very much based in potential, it'll be interesting to see which side takes that potential to the next level (something we have suffered with for a very long time).
  12. So first weekend of AFLW has been a success (obviously aside from us losing) I have to say though I'm not a fan of Casey being our home ground. I get that our ties are strengthening there and I'm not saying we shouldn't play some games there, but given the obvious proximity to the MCG and the ease of getting to the games I think we should lobby to play future home games at Punt Rd Oval. I know it's a tiger heartland, but the pies are being moved to Carltons heartland for some of their games so I think the bigger picture has to be how do we make the games most accessible to fans wanting to support it.
  13. I hear Paul Roos might be taking over the coaching soon. I missed all the game so I'll just say some general things. We got very unlucky with our draft position and I think it's made a big difference, clearly some very good players went low and from then the talent pool thinned quite quickly. This will be a work in progress for some time in a lot of ways so we will need patience (I think we're the kings at that).
  14. Gil essentially said that this would be expected in the early days, and I agree the standard will improve over time but we have to remember how quickly this has formed. I'm also a strong believer that there are too many teams which has diluted the talent pool. I kinda agree, I think it might been a better idea to have this year focused on building the foundation clubs and the skills by conducting academies of sorts. That said they needed to strike while the iron was hot with the popularity gained by the games between us and the dogs. (Not that we were given recognition for it). These first couple of years are going to be bumpy ride. Those who are believers will need to be steadfast in their resolve and support, those on the fence will likely drop off (but hopefully return in the future), and those that we saying stuff like "nobody will care", "it's crap anyway" , and more will likely feel vindicated for a while.
  15. Good luck to all involved in all games, congratulations to everyone on getting us to this point. I must say as I travel into the city on the train I still feel pretty annoyed that it's Carlton and Collingwood cutting the ribbon on the competition. Us and the doggies deserve better, at the very least we should've been playing each other in round one. Still i'm sure the ladies will do us proud. Go Dees!
  16. Brayshaw had a rough year in 2016 but I feel like 2017 will be a massive year for him. He's got a great attitude and with Lewis around to guide him he will take his game back up to the level we know he's capable of and then some. He, Petracca and a couple of other younger players are key to our improvement, while Lewis will provide something immediate we need them to start to shoulder more responsibility and take their games to the next level. Finals is most definitely on the cards, but it's far from a lock. We can't have stupid lapses like we did against Essendon and Carlton, and for that matter those two will be a lot stronger this year. But no doubt in my mind we can do it.
  17. It's over and done with, as long as we never hear from him again I wish him good luck with whatever he does next.
  18. Thanks everyone for the run downs of the evening, it's nice to be entering the AGM with hope and positive feelings. Fantastic that PJ has re-signed for another year, I do wonder if he has some kind of exit strategy in place where when he feels it's appropriate he will look at a replacement or grooming a replacement. For now I'm just really happy he's still with us. The Casey announcement was a surprise but one I've felt needed to happen. Prior to PJ and Roosy it felt like we were only half in it with Casey, like they were almost a burden we needed to put up with. The links have since grown a lot stronger and them being rebranded the Casey Demons will hopefully mean more Dees fans feel a tighter connection to them. I don't feel that getting our own stand alone VFL is necessary to our success so for the near future this is the next best thing. The AGM sounds like it was a positive bookend to an improved year all round.
  19. I'm not a fan of Brayshaw but replacing him with Hutchy is a mistake imo. Too serious and when he gets comical it's embarrassing and forced. At least Brayshaw had a bit of larikan in him, Hutchy's a newsbreaking reporter. Shouldve gone with totally fresh blood, Nathan Brown would've been my call. Its a dying show, Hutchy could bring about them ending or totally reformatting it.
  20. No doubt for me it's a slap in the face to us and the doggies (more so us given how much work we've put into women's football) that it's not Dog v Dees as the ribbon cutting match of the competition. It has again made us take the back seat in this when we deserve to be given more of a commercial preference than anyone else. Also think it's a bad call to make the women's GF inside men's round 1. Missed opportunity as they could've had it on its own as a build up to round one in the previous week. Anyway my rant ends with the fact that I head out of Australia on the 4th so I miss out on seeing a game myself.
  21. Given he was "expected" to return but hasn't I wonder how many of the boys have noticed/care he isn't there.
  22. Hopefully this pre-season will be one he learns from and realises what's required of him as an AFL footballer. As for his punishment, I heard somewhere that he couldn't be suspended due to an AFLPA clause. But I would've liked the club to say he will return through the VFL in round one as a punishment, I'd rate the actions from the club as fairly soft. But im also not in the know so I'll back the club's decision and direction. Onwards and upwards now.
  23. Nah the list is the list, we can't replace him but much like we did with Milkshake we can upgrade a rookie as "retired" essentially works the same way as long term injury list. My thoughts would be Tim Smith as he's body hardened. Regardless of what happens he won't be playing for us again so we'all be upgrading one of our rookies.
  24. Welcome to the MFC Bull, hope to see you don the Red and Blue at some stage in the future.
  25. I would imagine that is what is being discussed, his "retirement" and subsequent parting salary agreement. I have no idea how they work it out as the professional sporting world, as many have pointed out, works a completely different way to the regular world with contract pay outs. Melbourne just needs to work through this in the most professional manner, but at the same time not giving him any more than what they feel he deserves after his frankly unprofessional conduct. That he hasn't even shown up for any pre-season commitments shows he's punched his card, but surely that should be something both club and player work out together.
