The problem is I'm not surprised , I've seen all this before . A surprise would be to come out after a long summer and show that we have improved significantly . Other clubs seem to be able to do it , ours finds it impossible . We've been fed a steady dose of snake-oil by Schwab , Connolly , Stynes & media about the accumilated talent on our list. That our facilities are second to none , that soon we'll be a power . We grimly hold onto flashes of competancy (like Watts game last night)that it will all come together in the end . Meanwhile we watch patiently as opposition teams and draftees feats surpass our own .

Watts was average , did a few nice things , nothing exceptional that we shouldn't expect. Didn't F... up , that was good .

If your lucky they may take time out from their privleged lives to put out a tweet .

The posters that defended the lack of intensity during the pre-season . The posters who implored us to relax as the season hadn't started yet . Those that wanted us judged after rd5-6 .

I want Watts to succeed as much as anyone but his last possession before the siren that summed up his carrer so far IMO . Take the ball in the clear , opportunity to run to 50 and have a shot , but bucked up the bounce . Groan . Eye roll . Confidence sapping stuff .

I've been watching us get physically beat up in big games trying to match skill against power all my life . Even meekly allowing Davey to get monstered every week has got to stop .

Games during the season are like boxing matches , finals are brawls , the bigger the final , the more brutal the brawl . The whistle gets put away and the slugfest is on . My fear is we have a team of boxers (like the Bulldogs) , for the ultimate success we need more brawlers .

Yeah , I got howled down by resident know all name dropper e25 and his sycophants for having no idea and wildly speculating .

can't remember whn he last tore up a game ... Drop him .... Zero impact ... Trade him ... Good God , Whenever Melbourne light the fuse and start playing some good footy , have look who's featured in those series of plays . Most of the time Davey has been directly involved somehow , either starting the chain at half back , carving 'em up through the middle or spearing a pass down a forwards throat . Opposition coaches opt to tag him as they know he can be shut down and if he is shut down Melbourne loses much of their drive . Malthouse however does not tag him and that IMO is one of the reasons we gave them so much trouble last year .

Doesn't take a belt in the head too well though . Williams gave him 1 in the chops early during the pre-season game , quietened him suffiantly and Magrath dropped a knee on him soon after kicking his 5th on the weekend . Didn't see much of it after that either . Rest assured if they can't catch him legally , they'll make him pay with cheap shots .

Only a few years ago under daniher we got rolled by bottom side Carlton at the dome while eyeing off a top 4 spot . Our season quickly went downhill from there .
