Moorabin was the only place I saw Robbie Flower pinged for holding the ball , couldn't quite believe my eyes . I ended up putting it down to him being shin deep in mud .

I remember the Melbourne fans being in their element until the game started . Who could forget Batgirl . I remember the Ben Johnson race and a couple of peices of play . Our first goal by Healey late in the 1st and a display of power football by the Dawks that forced the ball from the backline into their forwardline resulting in a goal to Platten . I knew our day was over at that moment . I also remember the relentless cry by a toothless Dawk supporter , " Carn ... the ... Horrible ... HAAAWWWKS ! " , drove me insane he did . I think I've managed to surpress 98% of the actual game .

The Ox's '94 season was spectacular and the Carey comparisons are relevant IMO but after just recently reading his book "All bets are off."I wonder about his committment to the club even if he managed to stay fit . The punt was 1st and the club that payed his wages a distant 2nd .

I never saw Barassi either but was bought up watching Flower who who'd just purr with his awesomness . Who wouldn't want him running through the middle of the ground now like the opening sequence in this clip . As was stated above , was playing the modern game 30 years ago .

The Pies were the hunters this year and no doubt driven for flag success after being around the mark for a few years now . We did see that when they are the hunted as by us in our 2 meetings they are vunerable . Be interesting to see if they can keep the intensity/disipline up with a Premiership medallion safely tucked away in their back pockets. Hawthorn couldn't .

Abit of inside info . Lowe gave Kossie his jumper because the kid idolised him and was struggling mentally at the time due to a persistant back injury that was keeping him from the field while Reiwoldts star was rising rapidly .

Twiggy Dunns mark and goal is remembered , the rest , not so much . Goddards mark was the greatest in a GF IMO though , for timing , height and to put them in front late .

No way , likely to knockout our proper players with his stupidity . Couldn't believe how dumb he was today , then again he was true to form .

That the mindnumbing "Saints footy" is officially dead. Couldn't stand watching the Swans play when they were winning and can't stand watching the Aints play their version under Lyon. He's had 3 chances with their stop start stoppage game and failed each time. I look forward to watching the fast flowing stuff that the game is evolving into.

Big call on Morton being our Goddard . Morton will never have the grunt of Goddard or the Elite kicking skill .

Gotta be the dopiest footballer playing the game . From knocking out Reiwoldt in the Prelim to his late hit causing a head clash with a teammate today .

They may have Wellman but they don't have Frawley , Garland , Rivers or Grimes . Maybe the next backline coach will sort out the kick ins .

I think with Collingwood they don't fart around while the ump is waving the flags . The kicker races to the bag of balls and starts looking for a target as soon as a point is scored . The ball is back in play before the opposition has time to set up zones etc .

If Lenny Hayes missed out on the NSM he woulda been stiff aswell . In and under tough stuff and also really noticable late in the game . Goddards mark puts Leo Barry's to shame , that was a real GF highlight. Huge mark in time on and kicked the goal ... Awesome .

Whats Kirk doing next year ? Might be a handy assistant coach . Could let us in on the secret to keeping the players uninjured for starters .
