  1. IMO Gutnick bought himself the most publicity the promise of 300 grand could buy. No-one new who the hell he was till he showed up waving $$ on our doorstep , then he was all over the media. Can't remember much positive he did for the club but do remember him being outspoken and having the balls to stick it to the AFL if he thought we were getting a rough deal. Also remember he dobbed us in for the salary cap breaches.
  2. You wouldn't have had to. As Don Scott famously showed . It was a Melbourne jumper with a yellow hawk on the front. Make no mistake , we weren't merging. We were taking over.
  3. Not only do we need wins , we need flags and a few of them. The only way to win over the kids "supporters for the future" is to have sustained success for the better part of a decade. Then you have to wait another 10-15 years till these kids can earn an income and become members themselves.
  4. I often sit at ground level around the goals cause the kids like to be up close but I do enjoy the sence you get of physicality when there. I miss the awareness of the amount of space players have and the structures upfield but hearing the force of hits and the crunch of big bodies around the goal square is awesome at times. As for Grimes head 1st dive for the ball , IMO play like that is more stupid than inspiring. It won't be long before players like Selwood and Grimes who are forever getting stitched up or concussed are seriously hirt because instead of looking after their own heads they expect some opposition player chasing the ball at top pace to look out for it instead. Free kick is a small reward if your off to the hospital in a neck brace.
  5. Driving your knee in to the oppositions ribcage when flying for a mark isn't tough either. Doesn't mean I don't want our players to do it.
  6. As far as I'm concerned , if your forking out extra to sit with Melbourne supporters only. Thats what you should be doing. End of Story .
  7. Love Tappys mongrel streak. Just needs to be a little more subtle thats all.
  8. So what we want beat them on QB. We wanna roll the AFLs arrogant pampered pets any other day they care to mention aswell. They belittle our efforts with the "Their Grand Final" jibes but conveniently forget about that when the filth and scum lift their intensity for the ANZAC games. Only recently Eddie threatened to take our sponsors, take the QB game off us, steal our players and shag our mothers. Sure feeds the "Them against the world" mantra he preaches to the black and white unwashed. Also feeds our desire to roll 'em on QB.
  9. Losing Pia was particularly distressing.
  10. Travis may learn a life lesson here, that his old man isn't as smart as he thinks he is. Might find he has to leave a club he loves because of dads pride. "We want 5 years or nothing." is an aggressive stance.
  11. Malcolm Blight axed at least 4 Crows before he set foot in the place. Wanted them gone before he even got there.
  12. Cloke not worth near the coin being talked . Hope we stay well clear.
  13. There isn't much sweeter than to take down the arrogant Bombers with their "Good ol' boys" coaching panel which now includes the much hyped "Weapon". A great scalp but it's when we take the likes of Hawthorn , Cats or Pies that will be most telling. Bombers have played well this year but have risen quickly as they did early last year and we beat them then also.
  14. When Nico's long bomb went through. Then wigged out when it wasn't allowed.
  15. Yes he did and was promptly sat on his arze.
  16. Wanted the kids to stay up and watch with me , She who must be obeyed overruled me. With the fear of making them watch a last gasp defeat I didn't argue. They'll have to refer the video tape. Go Demons !
  17. Which is just another reason why whenever Demetriou starts carping on about maintaining the integrity of the competition I feel the need to grab him by his straining lapels and delivering a Liverpool kiss.
  18. I , like most have great hopes for Watts but .... When he realises that he the 196cm marking target and not the crumber the better. (WTF is Neeld/Craig/Malthouse telling him?) When he learns that if he doesn't get the ball the 1st time he can actually go in and try again a second. When he looks past leading players 30-40 meters away and has the confidence to have the odd ping from fiddy will be nice. When he realises he's a big unit and unlikely to get killed out there will be great.
  19. The problem is no-one expected the complete turnaround from attacking to defensive football. Most would have expected and appreciated a happy medium. It's all very well for us that are seasoned to whats happening right now to try to remain patient but getting flogged playing uninspiring football every week is making it very hard to keep my kids(the next generation) on the straight and narrow. If this carp isn't sorted soon , they and those like 'em are lost forever.
  20. No, Jamar is having a normal year by his standards. 2010 was a fluke.
  21. Whereas I think we Neeld must utilise what he has right now to the best of their skillset and implement his plan slowly but surely by choosing players in upcoming drafts that better suit what he has in mind. What is happening now is soul destroying.
  22. Bartel when the game needs to be won. Franklin for freakishness.
