  1. My suggestion would be for a division based system, with people submitting scores from last year to be ranked. Also you get 5 leagues so those interested can form a league with the same as last year also to retain the rivalry?
  2. I will be in, will we need to post results or anything, to even up the leagues ect?
  3. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/jcurve-takes-new-turn-for-injured-dees-20120111-1pvf7.html Article on some injuries we have, Like the picture, with Clark pushing Green over to get the ball, like this guy more and more. great fit for the MFC. Also, i dont see i forward line not have Green in it, push Pettered to the bench, rotating in both mid and forward positions imo.
  4. This was the 3rd 3km time trial of the pre season
  5. The game I saw him play live last year, made me feel the complete opposite about the kid, he is only 19, Watts didn't put on the weight till at least 20 really, got big(ger) last year. You're right, i don't think Cook will ever be the hulking FF type, which might be the nail in his coffin. Under Bailey i think we could have had Watts and Cook being both CHF types for some reason, Neeld doesn't strike me to be looking for this. Cook though has all the skills around the arc to damage teams, great hands and skills with his feet, can kick straight too. So we will see. Dont think he lacks talent personally, just may not fit with the plan.
  6. Pretty sure they were happy to take best available, regardless of when Cook will play, our premiership window is not last year this year or poissibly next year, it is after that, in 2 years time Cook could walk right in and make the difference. We picked the U18 CHF. Waiting cost Bailey his job, i think Neeld will be less patient with his troops is the major difference, also Cook not putting alot of pressure on Watts ect atm Lots of teams have 3 genuine talls, (the better teams infact) Collingwood, Geelong, Hawthorn, West Coast to be specific
  7. I dont understand why everyone thinks that Barry would be so upset with Neeld wanting hard players ect As a recruiter Barry's job was to find players the coach and club can use in their game plan, if the plan changes so what? Do we really think Barry wouldnt know about over 100-200 players and their attributes, all with varying styles??? please Barry left to coach else where imo, career change as done by many people every day Also Neeld has said he doesnt know all the players abilities ect yet anyway so how can he judge Barry, around draft time, after being at the club for 2-3 weeks? Seems pretty light on to me
  8. Good thing they will be talking about Millions of dollars not thousands. to me i t is more just disappointment which they provide to punters out there, kids ect Although, the expecting late Feb line isnt filling me with confidence atm, that is about as late as you would want them to be coming....... still faith will be there, no point accepting second best at the MFC anymore no matter where it is.
  9. \ The game has changed, not everyone can "read the play" it is one of the things that sets players apart. Morton reads it and finds space, anyone can be in space, but finding it in the right areas ahead of play is a good thing, and not every player or alot imo can do it very well. I made the point that this isnt ideal in the modern game also, but Morton can build other aspects into his game then he will have quite a few strings, i think he will have got some from Bailey and a whole new set of skills like many others from Neeld and Co. The kicking he showed was quite good, the one i particularly pointed out was to a 1 on 3 and he manged to put it on his team mates [censored], that was a good kick, also early you wanted to disregard his natural advantages such as his height, which is great for him to have. In saying this i dont think he is starting 23 by an stretch round one atm, unless Neeld can teach him something, but he definitely has a place on our list, has alot of natural talent, and potential and has shown a bit in his first few years, Neeld has wiped teh slate clean so hopefully we see alot of players living upto their potential again, Morton, Sylvia, Davey, Green i also dont think he was comprehensively beaten by Goodes, didnt hold him that well, but the guy has won multiple brownlow medals ect, and Morton kicked 2 goals on him and worked hard
  10. Morton should watch him play.....would love him to do all these things at AFL level
  11. Because he was the 4th best player at the time? seriously though he won the Larke Medal for the U18 carnival i believe. And as said in the AFL you dont win games by running 100 meters or even 3000 meters quickly. you run upwards of 15 Kilometers a game if you are good enough. This is what people say when they use the term elite runner and morton he runs all day. Morton finds space and reads the play well, i dont know if this suits him now that presses are all the rage, less space and more accountability required. If you can watch his U18 video, amazing skills looks the goods, one kick is drool worthy tbh here it is just after 25 seconds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jp9k754zabQ edit - i think Morton lost all confidence under Bailey for some reason, i honestly like the kid, his first year and a half were tip top, very mucha pick four, his last 2 or so years have been nowhere near as impressive unfortunately, maybe Neeld can turn him back around?
  12. people should be happy that a few blokes beat Scullys time, upto 5!!!! great times regardless Nicho's and even Mcdonalds are amazing imo
  13. Saints and dogs could struggle big time in the coming years...... they barley had 40 and 35K respectively when playing off in prelims for years and years.....lets see them when they are sitting 15-18, not good times one feels If we can get 40K after what happened last year, then we can legitimately expect 50K imo if we ever go top 2-4 again with this list
  14. I will disagree with a few people, if off the current topic and say that Cale Morton looks * a bit * chunker than last year imo. Just from a few photo's and the christmas video, mainly his face looks fatter in a sence, more like his brothers, who are built more strongly, 21-22 years old and he may just be filling out, one hopes. continue
  15. If you can run one way you can run back. Poor form if you cant, i dont see how running forward tires you anymore than backwards on the field!
  16. Agree with it, but tbh i dont need a new jumper until the NAB... it would be nice earlier but i can wait
  17. 24 hours inside the Melbourne Demons den Huge article, and a great read and insight for all MFC supporters, 1000's of words
  18. Barry's recent comments regarding drafting for Neeld ect would suggets he drafted for Bailey also. Yes thanks Prendergast but he picks players that fits the wants of the coach.
  19. Agree about him being a finisher, but he also delivers the ball so well by foot, and has alot more class than most players bar Trengove in the guts.
  20. Can anyone tell me how much running and the type Sylvia has been doing while outside the main group? Could it be an effort to build his tank, and unleash him onto the midfield? Neeld did great things with Collingwoods midfield and Sylvia has all the talent to be a really great midfieldeer rather than forward flanker type, would really make our midfield look better. thoughts?
  21. Read somewhere that Magner was the highest rated player in the VFL last season (by Champion data - who recorded stats on him and a few other big name players prior to the combine) Saints were rumoured to be seriously keen, he was training with them, all 4 of Couch, Evans, Nicholson and Magner will be fighting hard for a spot or two edit- also we held a spot for a while last year, in case we need someone specific such as a Lawrence to play small forward ect So we may only see one upgrade prior to round 1 or only when any rookie is "ready" to get named,
  22. Couch = Lazyboy
  23. Warming up of people Time trials apparently "Risa wins again" ??? who is this? Guys just generally training, heading says speed and strength work Gym and general footy skills "lots of coaching from the coach!!!" - as quoted " pre-season flyer Riseley and Weekes and Pollard" Daniel Nichols fit and firing, Kyle Mathews up and about Rehab, apparently a small group
