CHANGES: Rd 23 vs Geelong
Watched a replay again yesterday. Reckon Hibberd and Sparrow were both good. Both tough as a goat’s head. Be unlucky to get dropped. IMO

CHANGES: Rd 20 vs Gold Coast

POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs GWS
That’s a horrible stat for us. Beaten at our own game. Analysis required there it would seem

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs Essendon
Good tough win.

TEAMS: Rd 08 vs Sydney
Kind of like selection in a way, although agree Sparrow is the future and stiff. Would have been my preference (Maybe the Wied is stiff too.) But ex Tomlinson, the selection committee had just about the strongest list possible to pick from. How things have changed. We should win this, notwithstanding some good “ins”for the Swans . For my money Harmes and Melksham are very questionable selections and clearly accountable as is the selection committee. Not much room to hide here.

2020 AFL Draft
It’s a raffle. Who knows how they will go. We do seem to have quite a number on the list 180cm or less. Not sure of the balance.

Unpopular Opinions - Melbourne FC Edition
Whoo! How about unbeatable one on one and arguably our best player for the last 50 years along with R.Flower?

Neville Jetta
A complete favourite Uncle of Kozzy, friend of Petracca and Oliver. Hmmmm How is keeping Nev different from keeping Jones? l hope we can satisfy and keep a quality bloke like N.Jetra
-
Isaac Smith
We used to have a desire for slow midgets. It seems our focus nowadays, is to fill up with moderate B grade midfielders, with little upside, on long contracts.

Isaac Smith
Three years is excessive IMO. Probably should be on a year by year arrangement.

Jack Viney on Re-Signing & Geelong Offer
Good stuff. Hope young Ollie and Trac eventually follow suit.

Trade Targets
Yy Ok so we have 5/6 absolute untouchables who have delivered. Happy with that and we should pay them very handsomely. If we don’t others will. If we lose any of them, it doesn’t do much for our brand, our supporters, the playing group and it tears the heart out of the club. This was always what we hoped for wasn’t it , to have a core of 1/2 dozen leaders that at least make us competitive and to be able to build further on that? Ex new recruits ,the rest of our playing group are under the spotlight as they simply haven’t delivered.

Petty, Sparrow & Smith Re-Sign
Good stuff.

Jack Viney Restricted Free Agent
Just a few things. Would you prefer to have Viney playing for you or against you, against say Brayshaw? I’ll be happy to take Jack. Onfield leadership is a number of things including being a General and when the game has to be won, standing up and making an impact. l reckon we have the right people in Max and Jack in leadership roles at the moment. On the basis of this year, other players who display these characteristics are May, Clarry and Trac. There are also others in Lever and Langdon maybe.

Farewell Braydon Preuss
Economics 1a would seem to be the decider of the appropriate price.

Tom McDonald
Who knows how likely? Stuffed if l really know the extent of his injury, or future prospects. We do know he can play when right and he is contracted to us. Plenty to go before him l reckon. Don’t see the need to be hasty on this blokes departure on the back of his overall record. The ducks and drakes of football.

Jack Viney Restricted Free Agent
So we match if none of those are on the table. With that sort of hand, let’s see how serious they are.
-
Tom McDonald
Toms contracted. Let’s work on getting his foot right, or an extraordinary good deal. No one should get Tom cheap IMO.

Trent Rivers Rising Star?
To get the three young kids all playing some exciting footy in their first year, is a big take away from this year.

Serong/Pickett trade
First into the side next week along with AVB (at least gives it his all) . Take your pick who you leave out ex Trac.

James Harmes is being wasted
The form of James like TM, is a mystery and kills us, but so does our inconsistency. Some of our more senior players turn up every third or fourth week. ( Brayshaw, Melksham, Salem). These blokes should be ‘hard as flint’ ,turn up every week, professionals by now, like May is turning out to be.

POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Port Adelaide
Did we have our best team in? IMO May, Lever, Hibberd, Salem, Gawn, Viney, Oliver, Petracca, Langdon all generally good players. Kids Jackson and Pickett exempted as is Bennell at this point. The rest turn up every now and then and include Harmes, Brayshaw, Melksham , Tmcd, Omcd These blokes really should be delivering a lot more, week in, week out ,but don’t.

CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Brisbane
Why can’t you have them both in the 22? Jackson plays as a utility in many ways and also gives Max a chop out.
