  1. If there was a trade and he was part of it, then he would have to be a very small part of it on what he's done so far.
  2. I trust the recruiting dept to recruit for our position in the cycle. Not sure why we would suddenly consider moving away from recruiting absolute A graders to go with Viney, Petracca, Oliver, Brayshaw? Lever fits the plan, but how would taking packaged up "b & c "graders ( some have been suggested ,are under a cloud injury wise as well.) This doesn't make sense to me. We are not that far away Other clubs aren't normally in the habit of getting rid of good players unless they have to. (Usually out of contract, salary cap pressures ) Reckon / hope Taylor sticks with the script that has seen us move up the ladder last two years. P.S. If Lever is worth two first rounders on an offered salary of $300,000.00 , then Hogan simply must be worth more. than that.
  3. Prefer Paul Wheatley to teach them. Effectively negates the need for inside 50's. He just got BOG for Nth Ringwood winning their 3rd vets grand final in a row for good measure.
  4. Who are we losing on the coaching staff for starters? Who would be other likely replacement candidates? A big 'not sure' in any event. Like we want to get the best players, surely we want the best coaches. What have Carlton and North achieved of late? The way he left us was also a bit awkward wasn't it? Personally, I wouldn't have minded Luke Hodge setting some expectations for our midfield prior to the Collingwood game but of course he was still playing. Isnt now though.
  5. Thanks.? Its that the third glass of red.
  6. Being reported Kelly re signed Lever the target.
  7. Should burn a bit as he has the ability Needs to own a few games.
  8. Think we all feel for Jack. Cruelled by injury, stood tall as aa individual and Melbourne person.
  9. Jesus I'm in a quandary . Normally would agree with the anger and fire but there was only a very questionable s..t free in it. Going soft perhaps but understand Koch's frustration. In the end Port didn't have the best and most committed 22 players. Like us they will have to work out those who didn't die for the cause and [censored] them off. Want to have a bloody good reason for 2nd chances IMO. Past behaviour normally a good indicated of future behaviour.
  10. It's an inexact science with lots of variables. Injuries, umpires decisions etc. He wears his heart on his sleeve like most of us and have been guilty of blowing of steam before engaging brain myself. Did prefer their level of commitment to ours however. That's the bit that bugs me.
  11. Had most of them playing against Collingwood ( ex Viney ) . Our issue isn't depth.
  12. Gaffs 3rd prize in the main trades likely so far .Kelly good but difficult, Lever a very, very acceptable result and imminently achievable. Gaff interesting but unspectacular and as for pick 10 sheesh ! IMO massive overs and would be a disappointing result behind the other two. Would be happy to bid up on Kelly and Lever . If we want to be the best how about we step up to the plate for one the A graders. IMO if they think it's best to trade out a player say Kent and get a second rounder for someone else and offer that up for Gaff that would be good result too.
  13. Or StKilda 7&8, Carlton 3& 10( we get Lever. ) Lions 2 & maybe first rounder for Schache pick, maybe North conjure something( not sure how). Collingwood midfield seems ok. Hawthorn full on midfielders and no 1 pick. Who knows? If true we must be in with a chance.
  14. Yep family very , keen Demons supporters.
  15. Judd like. Worked well for Carlton.
  16. So we either don't get it in our forward 50 often enough or the forward conversion isn't good. Good stuff. Keep drilling.
  17. IMO not gold class and we should never, never ever, recruit a midfielder who isn't gold class ever again if we are truly serious about a flag. Reasonable player with reasonable skills, but slow legs, ( like all our other midfielders) slow decision maker, not ruthless enough, doesn't punish or hurt the opposition much. Trade if there is one suitable, or keep as back up possibly.
  18. Playing group have caused destruction for the future in final round in so many ways. Feel so sorry for those running the club and developing the brand. Next year has just been made so much more difficult. Absolutely no sympathy with the playing group. It was a truly shameful effort from all of them.
  19. Our ruck division contribution has been below average this season. Do we have a plan now that it is to be further weakened by Spencer's likely movement? Casboult might be handy.
  20. The players are professional footballers, they play the game every week. It was just another game. They ought to have known that if the momentum of the game was clearly working against them, something had to happen to address this. Maybe correct ,habitual, instinctive tackling? ( it didn't ) or maybe some simply aren't mentally strong enough or good enough to carry it out. IMO our midfield is no where near elite enough to 'consistently' win. By the way I don't think getting Lever will fix this.
  21. I worry that apart from Viney and Oliver in the middle that we really have people able to develop the habitual/ every week, ruthless habits required. Max had the eye of the tiger last year, but seems to have been thrown by some stupid umpiring. The others are far too gentle. Recruit hard, manage soft.
  22. Absolutely pathetic!!! Not difficult to see why Viney's absence was sorely missed and why he was made co captain. Compare our on ball units approach to this matter against say Sydney. All grisly meatheads who will run straight through you for fun. We are as soft as butter . Total powder puffs. For Christ sake, a finals position was at stake, bloody die for the cause boys. There is no other option. Bruise free was back. As Goodwin says, it's about forming habitual behaviour and this was this the first thing he pounced on in his presser. The planets align.Oliver usually does it, Viney always does it, the rest struggle to do it " habitually"and aren't "gold class". You need a gold class midfield to win flags. Why did the Hawks go after Mitchell and OMeara so hard? Why are Dusty and Kelly so keenly bid? why do the cats want an old Ablett after getting Dangerfield? Good clubs never stop getting these types. Someone writes in here mids, mids and more mids. He's on the money for mine. Our midfield was totally asleep at the wheel today , they weren't on and they weren't professional footballers.
  23. Lost in the first quarter. Finally we conclusively know who can't cut it when it's all on the line. Get rid of them. Analysis made easy for list management staff.
  24. Didn't think it was an odd response exactly. Goody has given Watts plenty of chances to excel already ,without a great response and he's is a bit over it. Pederson has been terrific with fewer chances and now Hogan chimed in . Simply they get the job done. Which of these does he push out? Feel for Jack, but not sure that after 150 games he's totally recognised a few things like - ability alone doesn't cut it, he has to be on for 100 minutes, he needs to bring plenty to the table, he should be delivering 3-4 goals every week, his defensive efforts and tackling are sometimes sloppy.. Footy is about taking your chances. For the moment Pedo has him covered. An 6 goal effort or similar in the seconds might indicate he gets the message.
