Farewell Jesse Hogan
Thatās fair enough, but if we say want to deal ourselves high into this years draft how would we orchestrate that?

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Freo are ādesperateā for a key forward. Posturing for a sweetener. Our blokes wonāt be waiting all day on Freo or Jesse ,as we obviously have business to attend to as well. No panic necessary, Freo understand how the games played. We wont blink first.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Mahoney seemed crystal clear.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Mahoney is usually clear about his position. Havenāt heard him say things he didnāt mean and donāt expect it to be any different should Jesse wish to leave.

Straight swap Hogan for Lynch.

Aaron vandenBerg not going - signs a new deal!!!
Mitchell is pure A grade and Rioli a master. Richmond players fast and with tricks. Other than Garlett, the little blokes on our list ( Viney, Jones, Johnston , JKH Spargo) are not quick. Spargo ok and Viney plays ā well like Viney, but they are not quick. Is Dion Johnston quick? Spargo has leapt him already. Not saying quality smalls arenāt required, just need to have āhurtā abilities. We are full of āvanillaā smalls IMO. You want vanilla , please make it 188 with grunt like AVB. I understand the pull of the family, but I have loved his last 1/2 doz games and so apparently have Sydney. Want a fair return and definitely not another midget like Zac Jones. Where we finished, we need the icing.

Aaron vandenBerg not going - signs a new deal!!!
Took forever to get the midgits who get knocked aside by mobs like Hawthorn, WCE , Sydney off our list, looks like we canāt help ourselves, filling up again. Garlett, ( Gone, but still contracted) Johnston, ( ?) Spargo, Jones ( just about gone) and the young prospect coming. Under 185 you need speed, heaps of tricks and 2 goals min a week IMO Kent and AVB decent losses. At first pass doesnāt look great to me, however weāve seen Taylor magic before.

Sydney are smart and have pounced. AVB is surely going to have to live in a capital city for training and travelling interstate. Lets see what we get before we get too [censored] off I suppose. Should be something decent for this bloke.

Would be a decent loss.Very hard match up. Big, plays tall up forward ,strong, tough, tackles and does all the hard stuff including turning up to a preliminary final. We get left with little kids who canāt stick a tackle and donāt risk their bodies like Hannan, Spargo, JKH. Its interesting to note the improvement in our side later in the year with him in it. Who would you rather have in your side. Sydney arenāt stupid are they?

Rumour File
Donāt need to trade for Gaff, just a shipload of coin.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Yep ,if your going to get into a Judd/Kennedy type trade, make sure you get an absolute Rools Royce not a clapped out old Holden. Can we get into the Lynch game?

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Should be in the drivers seat on this one either way ,shouldnāt we? Hogan has apparently said heās open to the idea āifā a trade can be worked out ( think they may have left out the word āsuitableā). If a suitable deal ( suitable to us) canāt be worked out , thatās fine, Hogan will always be embraced by the supporters if whatās offered isnāt suitable or fair and we just match the offer and move on. If as suggested, Freo really want him, figure out a way for two low draft picks (Not one cent less)and we can all move on. If not, itās no deal and Hoges will still have a great career with us. Isnt this the way this stuff is supposed to work?

Post Match Discussion - Preliminary Final
Massive learning experience for our blokes. You couldnāt compare that to Hawthorn or Geelong games, where quite clearly our boys stood tall. Goodwin was concerned about contested ball and tackles moreso than fumbles. Likely, thatās where we will see ongoing changes made. Its not the first time this year this has happened and when those games are reviewed and a a clearer pattern will emerge. Some of the changes to the playing list may surprise us, who knows, but I have faith Goodwin will find what he wants. Taylor is pretty good at his job.

Post Match Discussion - Preliminary Final
I like that Goodwin wasnāt banging things and throwing water bottles. He was dirty but calm. He got a reality check on the capability of our list under real physical pressure. Good for him to find that out now rather than next year. I doubt if heāll review the younger ones too much ,but some of the experienced campaigners who we expect to show up every week ,have might/should get a tap on the shoulder, if we are to make the next step.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Goodwin says heās happy and required , Gus says heās happy and a Demon, Jessie not saying much, seems all good to me. Lynch might be an adequate replacement if he did want to go, but think we would be losers otherwise.
-
Andrew Gaff
Havenāt given up hope Hunt could fill that role.

Our supporter stereotype
If we rise others must fall. I wouldnāt worry too much about incoming sour grapes from the likes of Cover ( we just dispensed his mob). I felt Clarkson in his aftermatch comments, alluded to the fact that other good teams didnāt make the 8. He also said they had to address their list and do some trading. So could it simply be just that weāve decided to add a new dimension to their lives, with a playing memo that says - ā hang on ,there is a bit of a changing of the guard going on hereā They can say what they like, we do to. Screamed Judas ever time Frawley got the ball Friday night and it felt great.

1964 memories- calling our older supporters
You make a good point . The Demon noise last Friday from our supporters was wonderful music and brought back memories of the 50/60ās. I think itās inportant to understand what has just woken. The coach certainly does and I suspect a few Geelong and Hawthorn people do too now. Congrats to all who went and yelled like crazy. It was powerful. The Frog lived around the corner in Carnegie in 1964. Was a local boy and played juniors at Carnegie before going on to bigger things. Always a good bloke and a great mate of Lenny who was also a handy district cricketer.
