  1. We have had plenty of opportunity to have that covered off, but amazingly we still keep being given opportunity after opportunity. There simply are no excuses anymore, either we start taking a couple them, which we should and look at progress, or face and deal with the fact that we have gone no where.
  2. As well as the Dangerfield stunt, these tactics must also have been cleared with the umpires in attendance at training earlier in the week. Sharp practice in the first instance , dangerous in the second . Doesn’t surprise me in the least ,that the umpires weren’t prepared to deal with either with any degree of intelligence or sense and simply get out of the bl..day way. Sad that umpiring probably impacted the result and that the bald headed buffoon umpire, just couldn’t really understand what the game is really about. Whilst I thought the physical side to our game was pretty good , would have loved to have had Viney.
  3. I suppose we have to but shouldn’t have too if you know what I mean. I just keep thinking of Vince Lombardi !
  4. My concern is that we have come out on the wrong side on all of our close ones. Not just on occasion and the pattern is disturbing. The players and coach can talk the talk but sooner or later you must walk the walk.
  5. We just crumbled in the last quarter as we have done previously in the close ones. There simply are no excuses. Such action feeds on itself it seems and when we get in these positions some of our players just struggle with the pressure. Petracca and OMac have now joined the panic club and l haven’t seen Hogan step up once in any of these games either. They were not alone and when the time came for calmness, leadership and observance of appropriate behaviours for these circumstances there was ‘ no appearance your worship’. We rolled and allowed ourselves to fall at the last hurdle. I don’t understand the coaches comments that the players are sick and tired of such losses and don’t buy it. Their fate was in their hands. They just had to do what you have too, to win. They didn’t. Can you imagine the great Hawthorn sides of the past losing from the position we were in? We constantly see a wonderful kid called Oliver along with Tom Mac being the true leaders of the joint trying to show the way. Instead of getting in behind them we panicked or in some cases just didn’t get involved. Ok ,a few more weeks for these blokes. If we don’t make the eight, the supposed hurt over last year will be shown as just croc of rubbish and we may need to cut the cancer out. I hope it’s not the latter but it’s looking like it.
  6. Yep. If we get 14 wins that should see us in, but doing it the hard way. The loss against Collingwood ( and lack of leadership in such a crunch game) together with our efforts in the close ones have made our current position so unecessarily cut throat and perilous. Not much room for error now.
  7. Agree and if you move him on,strategy would be to improve the the list as a result. Not sure how we can do that with our trade picks, nor do I think he would have much trade value. He’s got a few weeks to show something.
  8. Im pretty sure it would ,but not for me although I get where you’re coming from. We just saw Stretch and Frost plays decent games after having to wait along time for their opportunity. We’ve also seen Tyson and Bugg produce for us over time. Proposed action would the heart out of our young group and we owe Carlton zero. Maybe a couple on our list to the Suns might work. They need leadership , experience and direction.
  9. Agree. Was a good win and keeps us in it but also gives the three recent losses perspective in terms of our fate. We won’t be considered to have improved unless we take a couple of decent scalps to make it. So still the question remains are we any good or just flat trackers?
  10. Yep agree Can’t quite grasp it. I mean I worked in finance all my life and can’t ever remember anyone ever leaving $1,300,000 on the table.
  11. So we are led to believe that Cyril is walking away leaving $1,300,000 on the table? Doesn’t make sense.
  12. Wonder if that was what Goodwin may have been alluding too for next week. He hated how the back half operated. Either that or it’s Frost or Keilty. After today doubt if the would roll the dice on Keilty and Pedo did zero when he got a crack. So reckon we might only go with two talls in the forward half Perhaps Frost, Stretch, Vince, Spargo for Petty, Weideman, ANB, Hannan.
  13. Played 4 leadership filled quarters today. Probably our only AA. Looks like a leader to me. Viney does too , sometimes . Not today, although last quarter good. Wanted more earlier and also against Collingwood a couple of weeks back. So two average performances out of three must win games. Mixes it up, can be patchy. Captains need to show up every week. Not sold. Jonesy been a great clubman and still maybe handy , but unless he ( and Viney) somehow haul us into the finals ( which they should if they are to be considered good leaders) do they really deserve it?
  14. Few careers on the line this second half I reckon. Max a one man band.
  15. I didn’t think he was that bad last night. Thought his first game against Geelong indicated he was going to take the season by storm. He was strong, hard at it, good in the air and used it well. If he ever gets what he’s capable of and that it’s expected every week, we and the whole completion could see a top 10 competition player. Regrettably it hasn’t worked out that way so far ,but it’s far from too late. As it stands though he’s flat lined at best, since then and l desperately hope he doesn’t become a wasted talent like many. others. He and Gus seem like good mates that we hoped would take us somewhere. Gus doing well after his difficulties ,Trac just seems to be going through the motions but we all know he’s got the ability. Hope the Footy dept can get to the bottom of this , identify the problem and fix it.
  16. Wonderful player and very nice bloke. Sad news.
  17. Yep panic and bomb when they have to make a decision. Watch Pendlebury , Ablett, Sloan. Plenty of tricks, sidestep, slow it up, go left or right the calmly hit a team mate on the chest and retain possession for the next advance. Clarry’s not to bad, Gus is ok too. The rest are classified as B graders for a reason.
  18. Agree with most of that. Mystery why he doesn’t seem to handle big pressure games. All we want us for him to play his role. Frustrating for us supporters, must be even worse for his team mates.
  19. You forgot ‘small slow and easily knocked aside red.
  20. Think we badly needed that win. Hope I’m proven wrong.
  21. Just threw it out there in my emotional state. At his best he’s great, but here we have a clutch game playing for second spot and he wants to stand in the middle of the MCG and argue with Melksham. ( In fairness I don’t know what Melksham said but you just don’t do that) I believe he had 1 kick to half time or something like that. He didn’t show up when we desperately needed him and it’s not the first time it’s happened. Just pisses me right off. We were playing for decent stakes today. Re Tyson his form in the reserves simply warrants a recall.
  22. For Lynch yes. Not the first time he’s spooked it up. Was standing in the middle of the ground arguing with Melksham. And you [censored] I believe I asked a question.
  23. Very quiet on the train. We were two short with Peterson and Spargo ( kid playing against men. Strange selection in clutch game) Oliver ok. Viney and Jones totally pantsed by DeGoey, Trelor and Sidebottom. When are we going to recruit an outside runner like one of the Collingwood blokes? Our midfield does ok against the bottom 8. Against the top liners - Leadership normally disappears after that. I think they know their limitations. In Tyson, Stretch, Hunt, Garlett, JKH comes into it too, maybe also the ginger nut and one of Keilty or Petty. Jones and Viney cannot be in the centre at the same time awful. Slow, slow, slow. Out Pedo, Harms, Bernie, Spargo, Harmes , Melksham. Hogans attititude and performance???? Do we keep him or do some serious trading for Lynch? Tommy Mac a shining light, Max tried hard Fritch tried.
