  1. I think the lynch v hogan is not really germain to hogans contract situation but is an intersting discussion none the less. For what its worth i think lynch is also an absolute gun. Interestingly though he is 2 and a half years older than hogan and it was only the second half of 2015 that lynch really started to hit his straps. To make a comparison you have to try and imagine where hogan will be in two and a half years. Scary good i reckon. Lynch is incredibly atheltic for such a tall player and the combination of height and athleticism is the ace up his sleeve. But i also disagree with your assement of hogans ground level game. He is amazing on the ground and whilst no slouch lynch pales in comparion in this area. Plus i would contend hogan reads the game better. No doubt though that lynch is a better kick, particularly over distance. All that said both are stars. Johnathon patton and Tom boyd a are much better comparions i reckon given they are both around the same age and both were number 1 draft picks. Few if any would have either ahead of hogan at this stage. However what is pertinent is few would be surprised if both turn out to be guns by their mid twenties - the age most power forwards start to reach their full potential. Imagine hogan at 25 with 3 more full afl seaons and four pre seasons.
  2. It shouldnt but it amazes me rhat anyone, let alone demon fans who watch hogan week in week out could question hogans ability and status as a potential future star of the game. His first two season's he kicks 40 plus goals, top 10 in contested marks, averages not far off 20 possessions a game, reads the game beautifully, has a massive tank that enables him to get up and down the ground and run defenders ragged (yet some still persist in calling him a stay at home old school dinosaur), is brlliant on the ground (are people actually watching?), has great hands, crashes packs, is super competitive and is a pure footballer. And he is only 21! I find it even more amazing that some posters who do not rate hogan as highly as i do also seem to expect that freo or wc will give up mutiple top 5 draft picks or one of their best players, or indeed a combination. I mean we are talking professional recruiting teams that pour thousands of hours into such decisions and have access to all the data they could ever need. You cant have it both ways. If not a gun then we wont do that well in the trade. Or perhaps some posters analysis of footballers ability is better than the pros.
  3. 7 have a live stream of theie chańels but dont stream the afl, i assume due to telstra having the rights to stream to phones and tablets. But i reckon they will stream the vfl.
  4. Again, it appears unlikely he will sign an exstension and we wont trade him this year (not even for a 'super deal' according his management company). So if this is the case i assume you think the fd making a mistake at best, incompetent at worst
  5. What on earth leads you to that conclusion? Given the public comments made by fyfe and lyon - both of whom emphasise his desire for finala success - and the fact he becomes a rfa i would say he is more likely to leave tban stay at the end of 2017.
  6. It is very likely the club will not sign or trade him this year. Im assuming from your many posts on this matter you think this would be a major error by the fd - a professional unit who have barely put a foot wrong and obviously have intimate knowledge of the situation. Well, call me crazy but i think ill back the fd on this
  7. As if he is going to say gee boys im leaning towards leaving
  8. Agree to an extent. However they made a powerful statement. To any other young gun who wants out, to the rest of the team and the other clubs. They di not blink. Easier to do with the truck load of talent they have, but still. Ill bey he regrets hia decision now
  9. Well yes i agree in fact that is my point to an extent. Lots of people make simplistic calls when it comes to things such as trading scearios. My point is that the fd are professionals who are paid to make the best decision for the club. I rate our current fd as the best we have had for 20 years. I very much doubt they will force jessies hand. Assuming i am correct this.means that the fd believes the best thing for the mfc is for them not to force a decision or look to trade him this trade period. That's good enough for me.
  10. So ralph there is every chance the club will not force his hand. You obviously think they should. No offence here but ill back the fd here as to what the best approach is rather than posters on a footy forum.
  11. Ok his Dad's health worsened in February. Shesh By the by seems a bit strange for you to quoting GNF to back up a point you are trying to make given the disdain you have shown him
  12. Because of his Dad's health i would have assumed. If he is really crook now it is very unlikely hit has just come on in the last couple of months, in fact we know that's not the case becasuse we had at least two posters intimate his Dad was unwell early in the season. Its not hard to imagine a scenario where he is loving Melbourne, his Dad is stable and he makes noises about extending his contract. And then unfortunately his dad's health deteriorates and everything changes and he feels he has no choice but to put things on hold. After all he has a contract for 2017. I really don't understand the debate given what we know about his situation. The scenario outlined by GNF and Nasher above is by far the most likely and logical one to play out, particularly given last Friday Goodwin said as much (ie we are in no hurry).
  13. You cannot be serious? The worst case scenario? That would be him leaving. If he chooses to exercise his right to honour the last year of his contract, as is his right, do you honestly believe the club will trade him this year to enure they get a primo deal? Of course they won't. Because it would be stupid and the current fd is not stupid.
  14. Agree. having not really seen much of him this year i was surprised how effictive he was, particulalry in the first. Great pick up i reckon, particualry given it is essentially a free throw at ths tsumps. Played a lot of junior football so not a footy novice like the import B rookies, comes accross from basketball - and increasingly those skills are highly transferabl - and not only that has been playing in elite basketball systems since late teens so was pretty fit and fully up to speed on the dedication and discilpine required to be a professional athlete.
  15. As deejammin notes they also decided to lie by ommision by not indicating on the pre testing ASADA forms they had injections. I assume these forms are confidential, in so far as the club would not not know what a player puts on their form. So they wouldn't have to stand up to their bosses at all. Just tell the truth. The club would not have known which players did so. I'm actually amazed that the players did not cop more stick for this lie by omission. To me it was the most daming bit evidence against the players (one that wouldn't have come out if they had taken a deal early in the piece - so much for trying to protect their reputation by fighting on). That all players seem not have recorded what drugs they took or the number of injections is way too much of a coincidence not to be aconscious decision to deceive ASADA and suggests the club asked them to carry out this deceit. Surely this should have set off major alarm bells for the players.
  16. The efc players deserved their penalty. One for taking peds. Naive - maybe. But that is neither here nor there. Do the crime and do the time. Take responsibilty. And two by componding that stupid decision by not taking a deal early, pleading guilty and missing only 3 months and perhaps as few as 3 games like the cronulla players. I dont buy them getting any slack for taking the peds based on just doing what they were told by the club. But even if i did they cant blame the club for not taking the deal. They made that stupid decision all by themselves and more fool them if they took advice on that matter from the very people who got them into the mess in the first place. But they have served their penalty and i have no issue with any of them. Looking forward to having the melk run around for us. Its like gaving a brand new recruit.
  17. From the titter account of AFL trade news first (thanks dee-licisous): AFL Trade News First‏@AFLTrade Melbourne and St Kilda are showing interest in Adelaide's Jarryd Lyons. #AFLTrade #MELB #STK #ADEL
  18. No he doesn't. He has a contract for 2017. He has every right to wait as long as he wants to make a decision (well at least until latish next year when his contract expires) - even if that annoys DL posters.
  19. We have had a number of posters on DL confirming his Dad is very sick, Pennant St Dee being one and i've never sen anyone question his credibility (and nor would i). To be frank i'm amazed at the tone of some of the comments surrounding Hogan, particularly those that are clearly skeptical of his motives and those demanding he make a call. For Pete's sake give the kid a break
  20. I reckon players who are moving clubs place likely success at the top of their list what clubs are a destination club. To that end i'd have Dogs in that top group and sainst and Dees in the second.
  21. I don't see how his managers comments change anything. We know his Dad is crook and we know that because of this he is quite understandably thinking he might have to return home to be with his family and provide support. So of course he's gone home and needs to see 'where his head space is at'. I really feel for him. He is a young fella who loves his family but also clearly loves the dees and his team mates and would be busting to be part of what we are building towards. Tonight's effort by the doggies and the obvious bond between those players will further reinforce this desire. If he goes back to WA it will be to freo or perhaps WC. Both clubs have problems i reckon. WC have shown a brittleness in the last two finals series and i don't think have the cattle (or perhaps culture) to win a flag in the next few years and Freo is miles off. And at Freo he would have Ross ' my way or the highway' Lyon as coach - a coach that burns out his players and would hardly be a dream coach for a key forward with is low scoring game plan. And neither club will pay much more than we would. But the pull of family at a difficult time is powerful. I don't envy his choice.
  22. He would fit in well on dl with that approach
