Good get lh. Dunny has always been a favorite of mine but he clearly has been unable to adapt tp the zone defense. That was dead obvious against the saints. Garland also struggles with but unlike dunn is slowly getting it

I agree. A good analogy is pro golfers. The best players hit pressure shots under the gun because of swings that are metronomic. Same goes for nba basketballers. The best shot i have ever seen is curry. His shooting action is pure and the same from wherever he shoots from on the court. The main problem with hogan is that his run up and action is a little different every time

Thanks PD, i value your views particularly on WA related matters (eg on WA players). Given what i have read and heard about Jesse it It doesn't surprise me in the least that a big factor in his decision will family related. However my guess its not about being away from his family (as might have been the case with Jimmy Toumpas) but more about his familial responsibilities. This actually gives me more confidence he will stay as the club has shown a clear commitment to support this responsibility (not just this year but from the get go) and with a four month end of season break and the world being closer than ever thank to technology he can manage those responsibilities sort of stuff (as opposed to say homesickness). But as you say what will be will be.

Welcome back GNF. Not sure why but you seem to really upset some posters. Don't mind them. Haters gonna hate. Just one thing though it's not true that 100% of demonlanders dismissed your Roos prediction. I didn't - so much so i cracked him to be our coach and had a nice collect on it. I think Hogan will re-sign. But just a vibe. Sure the go home factor is big but as i've said before Freo are on the way down and i'm not convined about WC being a real threat for a flag in the next few years. Add the travel and living in a fish bowl to that and WA doesn't look too appealing i would have thought. However what gives me most confidence is Goodwin's comments earlier this year about how brilliant it is is to be involved in a young group all developing together and getting a collective reward, how the clubs focus should be on creating such an environment and that if we do Hogan will likely want to stay (my interpretation of the last bit admittedly). Well i can sense exactly that vibe growing and Hogan will want to be a part of it, And i can imagine so would Prestia.

Fair enough. I would add to my previous comment that in the time i have followed the dees the only player who i have heaped such praise on or made such a big call is Schwarz. No other player has come close, including Neitz who was AA in his second or 3rd year (i was only 6 when Robbie began his career and hence a bit young for such predictions).

None of the players you have listed are always elite under pressure, no player is. For example Salem shanked the ball a number of times under pressure in that Roos game. Watts is the best kick in our team, both under pressure and when shooting for goal. No one else i rather have the ball in at a vital moment in a match. He is technically the best kick and weights the ball to leading players better than anyone in the team and as good as anyone in the league.

I assume you have elite and super elite categories and have Watts as the sole MFC player in the super elite category. So far the best kick in the team its not funny.

For reasons i've outlined before i can't see Hogan wanting to return to WA (mainly related to the burden of travel, but as private fella i can't see him enjoying the fish bowl in a two team provincial town) but for the sake of argument lets say he is considering a move back home. As a competitive beast Hogan, like most players, priority will be playing in and winning finals. If he honors his contrast with the dees then any move would be for the 2018 season. I reckon Freos premiership window will be closed by then and more than likely they will be back in the rebuild phase. I can't see him wanting to be part of a rebuild again, particularity if the club he has been laying at is reaping the reward of its rebuild (on the current trajectory we should be a top 4 side in 2018 - i hope!). WC might still be a realistic chance of a flag then but would need to keep building and not go backwards. They do have Kennedy but of course would take Hogan if available. So i can't see him at Freo, leaving only one WA club for him to do a deal with. But as i say i can't see him returning to WA and we will be in a position to match almost any offer.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
That's something ive really noticed as well. From the games and training reports the vibe seems supper positive and the camaraderie just terrific. Watch Salem's goal. After he kicks it he is all smiles and his teammates swarmed him. Oliver was laughing and you could just see the positivity and connection. Similarly after Bugg's goal his teammates really got around him (was it his first goal for the club?). Great to see and it is what Roos has been working on

ββHe (Roos) was one of my favourite coaches with what he did at Sydney, and I was hoping to be drafted to Melbourne so I could learn from him so itβs all a bit surreal." Two words. Destination club.
