I am leading a RAP process for the organisation i work for. Fascinating and powerful process that cannot be undertaken in a tokenistic way and involves a great deal of organisational commitment, both in terms of time and preparedness to be challenged on a range of levels. Reconciliation Australia, who have to approve a RAP is very supportive. A terrific thing for the club to undertake. And necessary. In Feb 2015 i went to the AGM and there was a real oversight in so far as neither Glen Bartlett or Peter Jackson acknowledged the traditional owners of the land or paid respect to elders past and present. In fact no one did. It was disappointing on a number of levels. Firstly it should happen at any formal event such as an AGM (and some would argue at things such as board meetings etc). Secondly as I understand it the land on which the MCG sits has special significance to the Wurundjeri people (tribes of the Kulin nation used the area as a meeting place). Finally – and perhaps of most significance – Flash was given life membership, which, for me at least, really highlighted this oversight. I emailed the club with my concerns and very much to their credit they acknowledged the oversight and since then have the acknowledgement and when appropriate at key events also a formal a welcome to country from an Aboriginal elder. The fact it was not standard practice to acknowledge the traditional owners and pay respects to elders past and present gives a little context i reckon to Liam Jurrah's comment in this article that if the dees had introduced a Reconciliation Action Plan during his time at the club, he believes he would have been better prepared to make the transition from a remote indigenous community.

Love him. He's due a screamer. A player who couls bob up with 3 critical goals in a final. Really tricky match up too.
-
I reckon there is something in this. Everyone was talkung about the doggie's injuries last year but easy to forget by finals time (and helped by the ore finals week off) they had an almost full side, many of whom had time to freshen up, albeit through injury
-
Watts will be tbe key in. Having him out has really demonstrated how critical he is to our side, particularly his composure and delivery of rhe ball indide 50. I also suspect hoges will love having him back, as much for rheir obvious bond as the improved delivery he'll get.

The point of the Op was not that we need tough players that play unsociable football. It was that Jones was unfair on Vince with his comments. But to add some counter balance to the roll call of players who have supposedly won grand finals for their team i'd offer up Steve Johnson who i reckon cost GWS a flag by getting suspended for the sort of boneheaded snipe that Vince has just got done for. On the the toughness front Goody has made it clear his team needs to be uncompromising, physical and attack the ball with ferocity. But play the ball not the man. In essence this is what Jones is reinforcing. And i reckon the dees are not far off what he is demanding.

Who said anything about a crime? Not me. But now that you have mentioned it i say your OP is crime on logic as has been made clear by TPF39's post with its direct quotes of what 'Nat Jones' actually said. And lest there be any confusion, I am calling you out as a troll.

100% agree. And it always makes me suspicious when a poster with hardly any posting history starts a thread that is 'controversial' and solely focused on criticising the club or a player - in this instance our much loved and respected captain. To quote repo man. I call [censored] on that

Sorry, once again my sarcasm filter must be faulty. I can only assume this is a joke post but can't quite see the where it is funny.

A very good comparison. Like jarman he is explosive, super hard to tackle and great vision. Like jarman, and even more so actually, looks to give to teamates and makw assists. But the biggest similarity is like jarman, trac has anirger gear, the x factor and a want to be the man to win the game foe his team. I said in his first year that soon enough people would be saying stringer, the player he wss most often compared to, is the poor man's Petracca. And we are not far away from that.

Dont follow the scores and then watch the replay 'as lice' when you have the opprtunity for 2.5 hours unierrupted viewing. The next best thing to watching it live. Almist exactly the same emotional response. Trick is to avoid the scores. Should be easy os. A few years ago i couldnt watch a game v tigers live on the sat. Couldnt watch the replay until tues morning at 5:30 before work. Complete media blacjout required and if i spoke to any mates tge first thing i said was to not mention tge footy

Boring is a far sigt better than being unable to manage a debate without being dismissive and rude.

Agree with your comment about the evidence. Which is why i was bemused you rejected my argument about tmac being a forward option before the blues game. As i pointed then and just now the evidence was already there for all to see.
-
A couple of things pd. Firstly, i thought you were pretty dismissive of my argument as to how we could fit lever in and not lose frost. An element of my argument was that tmac was looking more and more a natural forward. You rejected that comment. Ill note it was made before you had your mind changed by his peter hudson performance on the weekend. But lets be honest the signs were there for a while he was a natural forward - unsurprising given he played all his juniour career as one. Even those ding bats darcy and richo pointed how good his leading patterns and forward instincts were way back against the pies - and he did kick 5 against wc. Yet you change your position after last weekends game and have now come to much tbe same conclusion i did prior to the clues game.? Polar opposite views you said. Perhaps it might be better not to be so quick to reject the arguments of orher posters, particularly when you initiate the discussion saying you like dispassionate logical discussions. The second thing is i actually think omac is starting to show sign his kicking could become more of an offensive weapon. There were a couple of excellent bullet passes on tbe weekend from him. One near the end of tbe 1st q that opened up the corridor before lewis turned it over. But yes a work in progress. Agree wirh frost but a real point of difference for frost - and an important part of game plan - is that he is often an offensive threat. He clearly has been instructed to take players on and run hard out of tbe back half. He so often plays on, runs 20 metres and kicks it 50 metres. Yes he can spray it but often he is driving the ball inside our forward line. Huge for us and with hunt they represent a very important part of our strategy. I suspect smith, who i still say may end up as a mid, will play a similar role. I cant see lever playing this style The most simialr player to lever is actually omac. Both are zone defenders whose strength is gettting across to spoil or intetcept mark.

Defenders get it tough. A forward kicks the wiinning goal and is a hero. A defender saves a match losing goal and is doing his job.

I couldnt go unfortunately. Wish i could. I so much prefer watching footy live. I sit at the top od the ponsford where i would have seen what simpson had ahead of him if he won that ball. The tv angle shits me. Just a tight focus, including the replays. Why not at least on the replay show the down the down the ground shot. Ivw heard 3 diff versions of what was ahead of simpson from the media. Can someone who was tell me for certain please?

I do not say this in jest. I wonder if bt has some sort of cognitive issue. He gets so many simple things wrong and often cant recall comments he has made
-
I though the same thing. Then i heard confirmation on the deetales podcast today that apparently Crossy told lewis there was only a minute to go. Very smart play by Lewis. Very dumb by blues not to man up
-
Great presser. He was pretty fired up. If you didn't know the result you'd think we lost the game.

Tom McDonald - are his days as a defender over?
binman replied to Nasher's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just opened this thread. Leaving aside the to and fro he does one thing that is super impressive as a forward. He marks the ball. As a defender he has often matches up on a key forward and like all good defenders in that man on man scenario his instinct is to spoil. Freed of that need to spoil up forward he is formidable in the air. I was super impressed by McGovern for the WC and Casboult for their marking ability - and i have to say Curnow today as well. Tmac is similar in that if he doesn't clunk it it invariably goes to ground. Loved his around the body snap today. Four straight today. Pretty good. I assume you are alluding to Netia as the key defender moving forward? Am i right in thinking Netia was AA at CHB?Tmac has a similar physical presence as Neta. Both big fellas more than prepared to throw their weight around and also both terrific at forward defensive pressure. A great example was the goal TMac set up for ANB. Stayed in the contest. Strong. Then a smart underground handball. Important timing as well. -
I have no idea what you are talking about. Are you Pro Dee?
-
Further to this post, I just watched Goody's presser. He is was pretty unequivocal in his assessment as TMac as a forward and the likelihood of him continuing to play up forward. 5:12 and 6:12 of this video: http://www.afl.com.au/video/2017-07-09/full-postmatch-demons

Fantastic. And so there can be no confusion about what i mean by couching a comment in sarcasm. Pro Dee, I (and another poster, sorry i can't recall who) said we could keep Frost if we got Lever because TMac was a 'natural forward' and could play the swing man role. You argued that this was not the case and categorically said TMac was not 'a natural forward'. Played as a forward all his junior career. Leads to the right places. Beautiful and accurate kick for goal. Great forward pressure. Great mark. Kicks bags of goals. Twice in the last 3 weeks has been the reason we have won. Incredibly hard to match up on. Looks every inch a natural forward. The evidence of the last few weeks suggests this is another assessment you have got wrong.

He would def trade garlett. He has fiem in that regard
