  1. If that's an accurate assessment by bucks I can't imagine roos would be keen
  2. Sounds reasonable enough. I like that it appears a locked in deal. Sends a good message that a player, who despite the predictable spud labels, would have options has chosen the NFC as his club
  3. Bollocks. As if the afl or wada would give such an assurance. The club would have a best guess on outcome most likely and would factor a possible suspension into the equation in a similar way they would a potential injury.
  4. Perhaps some called the club to warn them and the receptionist thought they were saying yada, yada, yada so didn't pass it on to roosy
  5. Great to have you back GNF. Don't let the haters dissuade you from posting trade rumours or personal musings.
  6. Watts was terrific as third man up this season. But of course he's not going to work as a a back up ruckman. One thing that the club will consider, even if many fans don't, is the age profile of the club. If we trade Watts, Jones, Terlich and Howe in addition to the older players we have already axed we will have will have a whole bunch of players 18-22, some 22-24 and SFA 25 and over. That does not work which means that if they trade Watts and Howe it will have to be for a player with a similar age profile not a draft pick. Look at the caning Melksham is getting on here. What mid twenties player that might be swapped for those two is going to have DL jumping up and down for joy?
  7. Kennedy is EXACTLY the sot of player we want. I reckon just about the most underrated player in the AFL and in my view is in the top 3-4 mids in the league. Perhaps lacks a little speed but more than makes up for it with his attack on the ball and ability to rack up huge contested and uncontested numbers. A warrior who perfectly fits the Roos ideal
  8. Are you being deliberately ironic?
  9. Does it matter these days if a player is a free agent or indeed off contract?
  10. To be clear I have zero information. But hers my guess for the big fish. Kennedy from the swans
  11. If he comes to the dees i'll support him. It's how i roll
  12. I know, was just paying along with Webber. He's overrated anyaway
  13. I really only watch demon games these days (with the exception of finals). And when i do i can't distinguish between opposition players and unless they kick a bag or are really cutting us up don't even notice them. So i don't have a clue how good Melksham is. That said i would two things. Goodwin has coached him and so i assume wold have a pretty good idea of his ability. Secondly since Hird went to the club it is safe to assume it has been a nightmare at EFC, certainly since the ASADA thing blew up. Hard to reach your potentail in that environment i suspect. Perhaps he can at the dees and Roos etc think so then that good enough for me
  14. Spot on. Made all the more frustrating by the free man ban got when he dived forward after minimal contact.
  15. That's not true, at least not in the Harvard referencing system. Single quotation marks indicate a quote and double quotation marks are used inside a quote when that quote contains a quote.. and you can quote me. Just sayin...
  16. Agree with almost all of that also fndee. Exciting isn't it. The only point I disagree with is I reckon tmac is every bit as good as neitz and may end up being better. Only 22 and huge upside given his desire to improve. Love that he has continued to attack and if his disposal continues to improve he will be even more damaging
  17. totall agree, especially in regard to Shwarz. I remember watching a game with a young Ox, pre any knee injuries, at Victoria Park. He was simply awesome and a big factor in a famous wins (close to my favourite game i've attended: Schwarz and Jakovich at their best. Fantastic stuff)
  18. 'I'm jealous of Hogan. If i was playing against him i'd king hit him behind play when he wasn't watching. Like that good looking Smith fella. See how pretty he is after a broken nose. I could mark and crumb. Hogan will never reach my level. Did i say i'd king hit him?' At least i think he said that. I could be wrong.
  19. Bob that is so funny you should say that. I was thinking whilst at the game (after his brilliant effort to get around a player on the outer wing - no ground game Leigh, really?) that i can't wait for his 'break out game'. He just looks so rock solid. 3 lazy goals and 20 touches. His break out game will be a monster. By the by i loved after we got a goal in the second (i think Newtons free kick goal) that came after jessie either dropped a Lumumba drilled pass or didn't quite get to it he went to HL and apologized. Also dirty on himself for dropping a couple. Love it.
  20. Hulk Hogan better be careful. He's too old to be playing with such fire

There was also one that quoted Viney as saying the toump was the best trainer and the player he would pick

Indeed. I started posting on DL about the time watts and nick nat were coming into their third year and the call we made a big error taking Watts were much, much louder and more widespread than the debate about Wines and Watts. There was barely anyone who argued we made the right choice. Most posters were incredulous any suggestion could even be made we made the right choice. Nik Nat was AA in his second year was he not and all and sundry pointed out how stupid we were not taking this once in a generation player. Well that noise has died down and there is a chance that in the next 2-3 years the majority view might be we made the right call. Most of the black and white, tunnel view brigade would have said such a possibility two years into their career was impossible - that anyone saying such a thing had to be delusional . Funny then that now people are saying it is impossible to imagine the Toump being a better player than WInes.

There are none so blind as those who will not see

Or perhaps it was the one where the toump gut ran to receive the ball on the wing, ran 20 meters and delivered a beautifully weighted lace out kick to a leading Hogan (who dropped it 5 meters in the clear, something he seems to escaped all criticism for - it would have sealed the game if he marked and kicked truly). Or maybe the previous NAB game where he repeatedly attacked the contest, including one brilliant effort where he went to a 2-1 contest in our forward pocket, won it and set up a goal.
