2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Dee-licious replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Stingrays are by far the best team this year and not surprising with 8 combine invites. I've been down to Dandy as much as I can this year and Lovett is showing a bit. Started well and got his vic country selection but injuries didn't help. He's been working his way back and trying hard to compete in a very tallented side. When the top end is out (like this weekend) he shone and got plenty of it (20+ I believe). Probably not a bad thing for us he's in such a good side - means we won't pay a top dollar. At the moment seems like an early third round in a weak draft, will fall because of lack of exposure, and probably cost us 4th+5th. Worth a look because he plays hard - doesn't mind the inside work, but is getting a lot of handball recieves link up work. I'd be penciling him in as a dee but don't expect at 2016 debut. -
Demonland Player of the Year - Round 17
Dee-licious replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Grumble, grumble, grumble 6 - Viney - again tagged and beat out Stevens. Just getting the job done. 5 - Gawn - dominated all day. Wish we could capitalise more 4 - N. Jones - wasnt going to give him votes but his 4th quarter effort was huge to try and will us to something 3 - Grimes - Still needs to get back up to speed but he offers so much off half back 2 - Howe - trade value going up, up 1 - Watts - big first half and tried to get involved in the second. Getting better. -
always makes me sad when we are getting beaten and beaten in tackles...

2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Lovett had 5 tackles and 13 touches in TAC last week. Just building and kicking along. 3 marks as well -
Good games from Dawes and Howe. Good work to the boys. I like the idea of seeing Mac forward. Come draft time we might end up with a Key Defender or 2 instead of a key forward and McDonald could go full time forward. I just don't trust his kicking. Also - how good is Taylor! And Aish will look good for the dees next year

DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Round 16
Dee-licious replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6 - Hogan - it's scary to think where we would be without him. 5 - Cross - backline general. Just professional yet again. 4 - Gawn - dominated in the ruck. Need him to kick straight (or bent on the snaps). 3 - Viney - poor rockcliff 2 - vanDenburg - would have we beat St K with him? 1 - Howe - best game for the year. Should get more votes but still hurting for on the first 14 games. -
Positive we are 3 games out of the 8 and playing rubbish football.

Yeah it's like he'll play his designated half, kick 4 goals have 25 touches and be disappointed he didn't have a greater impact.

Haven't had any inside info but with an injury he's done enough for Rookie - 4th round selection. Good height, good pace, tackles well. -
Good to see our injury list down at this time of year. Kent might get in 5-6 afl games and Salem 4-5 towards the end of the year. Would actually like Frost playing for a couple of games in the 2s. Could be good for Casey finals!

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Dee-licious replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think they will again as well. Thinking about our trades under Roos we've had one big trade which was the Tyson deal. The rest have been great, but we've won out (paid unders, got overs) Vince, Harry, Garlett, Cross, Frost (ish), and then Newton, Michie and Riley for next to nothing - not that we have got a lot (yet?) I think we will be looked after because I don't see us landing a big free agent (or one at all). Unless we get an old cat to come to us ala Cross I don't see us yet as a destination for any 2015 free agents. Collingwood would be the place I'd be looking if I was Danger et al. You'd need to offer Patton $1m a year on a Boyd type deal. Make it a 4 year deal - he got through today in the NEAFL and he'll be back and ready to dominate the competition. On the Prestia debate - yep he'd be great but he is not what we need. We have in and under ball winners. We need speed, we need spread, we need some height. I'll be the first to put his number on my back, but Bennell is the type of player we need (not character). Essendon is my other destination of poaching. I'm a big fan of Kavanagh and would love to see him in the red and blue next year. -
Delistings/trades at end of the season

I'd agree with you and make that trade but feel it would cost us our first round and Howe to get Patton. Maybe we pay a club to take Garland at a HUGE price and get a 1st round compo -
We've really played Toump outside this year both at vfl and afl level. Cannot imagine he was under the ruck man to get possies like Michie today. Newton was there - just not much from him today on the stat line.
-
From Casey your options are Jamar, Michie, Grimes and Toumpas. I like the defensive game that Grimes and Toump played. I really want to see Toump back in the side sooner rather than later.

Watching Aish play for Brissy makes me think. He's exactly what we'd be getting in Parish but he has a couple of seasons under his belt. Brissy will need another pick for Dixon - maybe there is something we can work out there with our first rounder. Probably a little high on what I'd want to pay - but depends on what we get back in return. Also Patton came back from injury today. He is contracted but they have a packed forward line over at GWS. Once again, pick 4 + Howe might make them think considering they are going to need a few high picks to pay for Hopper, Kennedy et al. -
From twitter: Michie 31, Riley 26, Gent 25, Jamar 23 Grimes 13 Tackles and Toump 11 tackles
-
Goals: Hunt 2, Papley, Jones, Michie, Riley, Scott, Morris, Gent and ???? Seems like they don't have Casey stats. Have had Port's though
-
And that is the siren. 10.9.69 to 2.8.20
-
Hunt breaks the line and could have gone for goal but lowers the eyes and delivers it to Scott in the goal square. 10.9.69 2.8.20
-
Port kick their 4th behind for the half at the 26 minute mark.
-
Lots of stoppages. Lots of turnovers for both teams. Tynan and Cook getting a bit of it for Port Melbourne today. Port have only kicked 3 points since half time.
-
Grimes kicks a goal - sounds like nothing has happened. The amount of times they have said "players fighting for the careers" and the only one they mention is Grimes is [censored] me.
-
I had him pegged for a rookie demontion, but maybe we will see him play a senior game in Round 23 this year if he keeps his work rate up. He is a tall mid at 187 (taller than Tyson, Petracca) but still light. His speed is missing in the demon side and we will be looking for pace in the draft and trade season so think he might have another year on the list at least. A good comparrison (althuogh he is not as skilled) H. Bennell is 185cm and 74kg and Hunt is 187cm and 76kg and Harley was doing really well at his size.

Thoughts from the commentary team: Casey dominated; able hit the scoreboard; played simple wet weather football; kicking it long and direct; runners at the front of the contest; set up well behind the ball (Terlich); look fitter;
